USMC BOOT CAMP Adding 4th Phase
The Marine Corps has reorganized a portion of the current 13-week recruit training to afford drill instructors additional time to mentor and lead new Marines. US Special Forces in Guyana, South America
3/12/2012 Members of the Guyana Defense Force and Special Operations Command South work together during Exercise Fused Response 2012. Fused Response is an annual SOUTHCOM-sponsored multi-lateral exercise involving a combined contingent of U.S. and partner-nation forces. About 300 U.S. military personnel will join approximately 200 Guyanese troops will train in Guyana at the invitation of the Guyanese government. U.S. Special Operations Command South served as the lead agency for the U.S. Southern Command during the duration of the exercise. 3/9/2012 Afghan National Army soldiers with 2nd Kandak, 1st Brigade, 215th Corps, perform medical procedures under the guidance of U.S. Navy Corpsmen with the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment Battalion Aid Station during the final evaluation of an eight-week medic course here, March 9-10. Among the variety of medic courses conducted in Helmand province in the past, this course led by corpsmen with American Battalion was the first for ANA soldiers in Garmsir district. The curriculum for the course was designed to be "hands-on" in response to low literacy and proficiency rates among ANA medics.

Submarine Life Support Research Facility  *(ACRU) Advanced Carbon Dioxide Removal Unit
Philadelphia – This is an overview of Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division’s (NSWCPD) Advanced Carbon Dioxide Removal Unit (ACRU) program at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia. Legacy CO2 removal equipment on submarines is costly to maintain and utilizes a hazardous liquid. The new ACRU uses 21st Century nanomaterials to replace the hazardous material and is capable of a 40% higher CO2 removal rate in the same footprint. This is one of a multi-part series highlighting the technical capabilities of NSWCPD.

(www.arlingtoncemetery.mil) A Full Honor Funeral was performed for U.S Army Sgt 1st Class Mihail Golin on January 22, 2018 Sgt. 1st Class Mihail Golin, an 18B Special Forces Weapons Sergeant assigned to 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), died Jan. 1, 2018, as a result of wounds he sustained while engaged in combat operations in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. Golin was born in Riga, Latvia, Aug. 20, 1983. He moved to the United States in October 2004 and enlisted in the U.S. Army from Fort Lee, New Jersey, Jan. 5, 2005. After completing basic training and advanced individual training, Golin was assigned as an 11B Infantryman with the 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne) at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. Following his assignment in Alaska, Golin volunteered for Special Forces training and graduated from the Army's Special Forces Qualification Course in November 2014. He was then assigned to 10th SFG (A) as a Special Forces Weapons Sergeant. Golin deployed to Afghanistan in September 2017 with the 2nd Battalion, 10th SFG (A) in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel. Prior to this deployment, Golin deployed three times. He deployed once to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from September 2006 to November 2007, and twice to Afghanistan from February 2009 to February 2010 and from December 2011 to October 2012, both in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Golin's awards include the Purple Heart Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, four Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Valorous Unit Award with two oak leaf clusters, two Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbons, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Special Forces Tab, Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, and the Parachutist Badge. -De Oppresso Liber-
