BIGGEST Prehistoric Sea Reptiles That EVER Lived!
Check out the BIGGEST Prehistoric Sea Reptiles That EVER Lived! From the largest extinct sea monsters to some of the biggest prehistoric ocean animals, this top 10 list of prehistoric ocean creatures will amaze you! Ophthalmosaurus (16 feet) Ophthalmosauruses lived during the late Jurassic era about 165 to 150 million years ago and were present in oceans worldwide. Its name, which means ‘eye lizard' comes from the fact that it had very large eyes, which were up to 9 inches in diameter (22.8 cm)! They looked particularly big compared to the size of the rest of its body! 9. Platypterygius (23 feet) Some of you helped me out the other day when I asked for advice with the pronunciation so thank you! I'm finally going for it!! The Platypterygius was a dolphin-like Ichthyosaur that was around during the early Cretaceous period, about 100 million years ago. Growing up to 23 feet, they would have been the dominant predators of the Eromanga sea in inland Australia where they lived. 8. Thalattoarchon (28 feet) The Thalattoarchon was one of the first Ichthyosaurs and lived around 245 million years ago. Unlike others, their teeth were unusual. Rather than the conical shape, they were about 4 inches tall and blade-like with two cutting surfaces. Armed with such deadly weaponry, the Thalattoarchon is seen as the original oceanic macropredator- one that targets animals of a similar size to itself, as well as those that are smaller. 7. Plotosaurus (30 feet) The Plotosaurus, whose name literally means ‘swimmer lizard', lived around 70 million years ago in what is now California. They typically grew to around 30 feet long and were similar to other mosasaurs in that they had large powerful tails for propulsion, and narrow flippers, but were more streamlined than other species. Plotosaurus is thought to have been particularly fast, and also had much larger eyes than others, which would have given them a huge advantage in spotting prey, and predators. 6. Temnodontosaurus (39 feet) The Temnodontosaurus was a species of ichthyosaur that lived during the early Jurassic, between about 200 and 175 million years ago. They hunted for food in the deeper parts of the ocean, and remains have been found across Europe. Their name means ‘cutting tooth lizard', and it's clear to see why. 5. Tylosaurus (45 feet) The 45-foot long Tylosaurus proriger swam the planet's oceans around 85 million years ago during the Cretaceous… while T-Rex's walked the land. It was a species of mosasaur and is believed to have been one of the deadliest oceanic hunters of the time- feeding on fish, birds, sharks, and other aquatic reptiles. 4. Prognathodon (46 feet) Prognathodons were huge mosasaurs that could grow to up to 46 feet in length. They lived around 80 million years ago, and specimens have been found around the world, particularly in Europe and North America. Unlike other similar species, Prognathodon had a different way of hunting, adapted better for preying on tough shelled animals like shellfish, ammonites, and turtles. 3. Shonisaurus (49 feet) The Shonisaurus lived towards the end of the Triassic period, around 215 million years ago, and evidence has been found of them swimming in oceans around the world. Fun fact: 37 fossil specimens alone have been found in the Luning Formation of Nevada and is the official fossil of the state. 2. Mosasaurus (56 feet) The Mosasaurus is probably the most famous of the Mosasaurs…. If you think the name sounds familiar, it’s the one that was kept in the lake in the Jurassic World movie. They were one of the last, and one of the largest species of Mosasaurs, and lived between 70 and 66 million years ago. Remains have been found in Europe and North America, but it’s thought that they were present the whole world over. 1. Shastasaurus (60 feet) The Shastasaurus was an Ichthyosaur that lived in the Pacific Ocean during the Late Triassic period, around 215 million years ago, and was the largest marine reptile to have ever existed. They grew to around 60 feet long and weighed around 75 tons, which is a comparable size to a sperm whale, and almost the same weight as a blue whale. 10 Most Dangerous Water Animals In The World ► Subscribe: https://goo.gl/vHN6qB For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] There are many different types of creatures that live in streams, lakes, seas and oceans. And while many of these creatures are harmless, there are many that are incredibly dangerous if you happen to have an encounter with them. These dangerous animals lurk beneath the surface of the water in a world vastly different than ours, and must be deadly to survive. Join us as we take a look at 10 of the most dangerous water creatures. 10. Australian Box Jellyfish – This creature is not one to be messed around with if you happen to swim into a swarm of them. And while they may seem harmless, the Australian box jellyfish is considered to be the most venomous marine animal in the world. They have tentacles that are covered with tiny darts called nematocysts, and they are loaded with poison. 9. Flower Urchin – Beautiful but deadly, these sea urchins are extremely venomous. They look like a bouquet of small flowers; to which they get their name from. They feed on invertebrates, sponges, and dead fish, and have well developed jaws for grinding up their prey. 8. The Saltwater Crocodile – Evolving around 200 million years in the Mesozoic epoch, crocodiles have far outlived the dinosaurs. The Salt water crocodile is the world’s largest reptile, and they have been known to grow up to 27 feet long and weigh 2,465 lbs. 7. Textile Cone Snail – Mother nature teaches us that anything in nature that is beautiful, is most likely deadly, and a warning to predators and humans to not touch or disturb them. This holds true for the Textile Cone Snail. 6. The Sea Snake – These highly venomous marine snakes are closely related and belong to the same family as the cobra. There are two independently evolved groups: the true sea snakes which are related to Australian terrestrial elapids, and the sea kraits which are related to Asian cobras. 5. The Lionfish – Lionfish are skilled hunters, using specialized bilateral swim bladder muscles to provide exquisite control of location in the water column, allowing the fish to alter its center of gravity to better attack prey. The lionfish then spreads its large pectoral fins and swallows its prey in a single motion. 4. The Stingray – Stingrays are a group of rays, which are cartilaginous fish related to sharks, and are one of the oceans deadliest creatures. Most stingrays have one or more barbed stingers on their tails, which are used exclusively for self-defense. 3. Blue-Ringed Octopus – This octopus has some of the most striking colors of any ocean creature. They get their name from the brightly blue colored rings on its body. 2. Needlefish – These strange looking creatures are very slender, and have a single dorsal fin, placed far back on the body. Needlefish are capable of making short jumps out of the water at up to 37 mph. Since Needlefish swim near the surface, they often leap over the decks of shallow boats rather than going around. 1. The Moray Eel - Most attacks stem from disruption of a moray's burrow to which they react strongly, but an increasing number of accidents also occur during hand feeding of morays by divers, an activity often used by dive companies to attract tourists.

Northern Stargazer Astroscopus guttatus is a strange-looking fish that’s known more commonly as the Northern Stargazer. In paradoxical contrast to its romantic-sounding name, the Northern Stargazer is, for lack of a better term, unattractive, if not downright homely. It dwells at the bottom of the Chesapeake Bay and along the eastern seaboard of the United States, from North Carolina to New York, in waters up to 120 feet deep. So if you live around here, keep an eye out! 6. Giant Squid Until 2006, the existence of the giant squid was considered to be barely more realistic than that of the Yeti, the Loch Ness Monster, Sasquatch, and dozens of other creatures that were rumored to exist, but remained largely relegated to mythological status. The only thing that placed the giant squid a notch or two above the rest of those creatures were the scars left on whales and the discovery of their carcasses by fishermen after having floated to the water’s surface. 5. Black Dragonfish The black dragonfish is a deep-sea dweller that resides about 2,000 meters below the ocean’s surface. The amazing thing about this guy is that is represents one of the most extreme cases of sexual dimorphism, which refers to a distinct difference between the sexes in size or appearance that exceeds the fundamental difference between sexual organs. 4. Deep Sea Anglerfish Like the black dragonfish, male deep sea anglerfish are smaller than females. In this case, some male species of anglerfish are parasitic, and subsist by attaching themselves to the body of a female. While they may not have a gut, they do have teeth! 3. Goblin Shark The goblin shark is a rare species of deep-sea shark. It’s the only surviving relative of a 125-million-year-old lineage known as the family Mitsukurinidae. Because of this, the goblin shark has earned the nickname “living fossil.” The goblin shark’s distinctive appearance is creepy to begin with: it’s pink-skinned with an elongated, flattened snout that resembles a sword blade. 2. Blobfish Our next spooky sea creature is, quite possibly, the world’s ugliest animal. I don’t know, between this and the deep sea angler fish, which one do you think?? Let me know in the comments below!! It goes through life doing exactly what you’d probably expect a blob to do - not much. In the deep waters off the coasts of Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand that it calls home, the blobfish survives essentially by drifting around on the ocean floor at great depths and eating whatever appears in front of it, namely deepwater crustaceans. 1. Frilled Shark At first glance, the frilled shark looks like something you might see in a science fiction movie - perhaps, for example, an unlikely hybrid between an eel and a shark. The frilled shark however, is real. Like the goblin shark, it’s often referred to as a “living fossil,” a nickname that alludes to the minimal change the species has undergone since prehistoric times. FRIENDLIEST Sea Creatures Around The World!

Sea Lions Sea Lions have long been associated with friendly interactions with humans, so much so that they form a large part of Peruvian culture- having been worshipped by the people there and depicted in numerous artworks. They are highly intelligent animals, which means they can learn tricks to entertain crowds, and are quite curious so they will often swim up alongside humans and play with them in the water. They are also used by the US military to assist SCUBA diving teams look for underwater mines and, in some instances, detain divers who have accessed restricted areas until authorities can arrive. Sea lions and dolphins are used as combat marine units and sea lions especially, have excellent eyesight. Sea lions are hardy, smart, and trainable and they have the added advantage that they are amphibious and can easily hand things to their handlers. This all makes Sea Lions sound like gentle creatures, but it’s important to know that sea lions have another side to them. If they aren’t treated well or respectfully, they can become quite aggressive. This can also happen with male Sea Lions because they are very territorial during mating season. If it looks like you’re bothering one then stay away but, if not, they are one of the friendliest sea creatures you’ll ever meet. 9. Beluga Whale Beluga Whales are native to the Arctic and sub-arctic, and are uniquely adapted to the cold waters. They are white in color, don’t have a dorsal fin, and have an enlarged head, which contains an organ called a melon that is used for echolocation. Beluga’s were actually the first type of whale to be kept in captivity, with the first being shown at Barnum’s museum in New York in 1861. To this day they are still the most commonly seen animal in marine parks across North America, Europe and Asia- mainly because they are much smaller than other species of whale and easier to contain. They are also a hit with visitors because of their unusual colour and wide range of facial expressions. They are really curious about the people who visit them, and often perform in shows with trainers who they develop deep bonds with. Since 1992 it has been forbidden to capture Belugas in Canada because of concerns for the population numbers in the wild, so now most of them come from Russia. They are so popular that each one can cost as much as 100,000 dollars. Whale watching tours are a great way to see them in their natural habitat, but it’s important for the boat not to get too close to them because of the way it can interrupt their daily activities. Quite often they enjoy interacting with the boats so much that they get distracted from things like feeding, social interaction with their own species, and breeding. They get so caught up in the moment, they forget what they’re supposed to be doing!! 8. Whale Shark You might not think a shark with a five-foot-wide mouth and more than 3,000 teeth would be the friendliest of creatures, but whale sharks are the most gentle of all shark species. They pose no threat to humans at all, and are usually pretty welcoming to those who want to swim alongside them. Despite their huge mouth, their throats are only the width of a US quarter, and they only eat tiny micro-organisms. Their average speed through the water is about 3 miles per hour, so they are easy to keep up with, and in a lot of tourist areas they are used to the presence of humans in the water, and don’t really seem to be bothered. Cancun is one of the best places to swim with these giants of the ocean, where you’ll really feel small next to a 65-foot-long and 12 ton fish. There really is nothing quite like being surrounded by a few of them, and the experience draws tourists from all over the world. If you visit “Las Afueras” you’ll even have a chance to be amongst a feeding frenzy of hundreds of them, which is a spectacular feat of nature. 7. Manatees Manatees, or sea cows, are also known as gentle giants, and it’s clear to see why. They are fully aquatic and feed mainly on plant life that they sift from the water. They can grow to up to 13-feet-long, weigh about 1,300 pounds, and push their way through the water with their paddle like limbs. 14 Endangered Sea Creatures
From the beautiful borneo shark, to the rarest irrawaddy dolphins, these are 14 ENDANGERED Sea Creatures ! Green Sea Turtles -- There’s a global trade in sea turtle meat and turtle products, and that serves to endanger these creatures. Some of these animals are caught and killed at young ages, then dried and varnished to be sold as curio items. The animals are also poached for their shells, which can fetch steep prices. The reason that Green Sea Turtles are named as such is because they eat only green seagrass and seaweeds. They also have a layer of green-colored fats under their shells. Borneo Shark -- Sharks are mercilessly hunted for their meat and for their fins, which is considered a delicacy. Borneo Sharks have been listed as endangered by the International Union of Conservation of Nature (IUCN). These are often considered the rarest of all sharks and only inhabit misty rivers. The small creatures measure around 26 inches long, and the only confirmed specimens were found in 1937 and 2004! Fin Whale -- This is the second largest animal after the blue whale, and is found from polar to tropical waters. As with other large whales, this animal was hunted heavily throughout the 20th century, and is considered an endangered species. Even though the International Whaling Commission issued a moratorium on the commercial hunting of this whale, Japan and Iceland have resumed hunting. Global estimates for the population range from under 100,000 to around 119,000. Asian stocks of the Fin Whale are considered critically endangered. Hawksbill Sea Turtle -- While it resembles other marine turtles, the animal is clearly distinguished by its curved, sharp beak and serrated appearance of its shell margins. They spend more time in tropical coral reefs and shallow lagoons in addition to living in the open ocean. They’ve been eaten as delicacies in China since the fifth century BC and their shells are used for decorative purposes … it is the basis of the material, tortoiseshell. The turtle’s critically endangered status is due to loss of habitat because of pollution and coastal development, among other factors. Whale Shark -- Discovered in 1828 off the South African coast, it’s considered to be the biggest fish species in the world … reaching a confirmed length of 41.5 feet and weighing 47,000 pounds. It’s found in tropical waters, and is considered endangered due to the impact of fisheries, vessels strikes and bycatch losses. And because the animals can live to around 70, their late maturation means it takes more time to repopulate their losses. Currently, there is no agreed-upon estimate of the global whale shark population. Irrawaddy (ee-ra-wah-dee) Dolphins --These creatures are related to the Orca, or Killer Whales … and is similar in appearance to the Beluga. It’s found near sea coasts and in rivers in areas of the Bay of Bengal and Southeast Asia. They’re considered more susceptible to human conflict that dolphins that live farther in the open ocean. Noise pollution from high-speed vessels is considered a threat to these animals, because it makes them dive for extended periods of time. But accidental capture and drowning in gillnets present a greater risk for the animals. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) lists five out seven subpopulations as critically endangered, due primarily to the risk of drowning in fishing nets. Axolotl --- It’s also known as a Mexican Walking Fish. Despite that name, it’s actually an amphibian, and they are used extensively in scientific research due to their ability to regenerate their limbs. The creature is native only to lakes of central Mexico and is listed as a critically endangered species in the wild, with a population that’s decreasing. Water pollution from the urbanization of Mexico City is cited as a major threat to the Axolotl. Likewise the introduction of non-native fish such as Asian carp, which prey on the amphibians. As of 2010, axolotls in the wild were considered near extinct. Vaquita Porpoises -- This rare species of small porpoise is native to the northern region of the Gulf of California … and is considered to be the world’s most endangered cetacean. While they’ve never been hunted directly, a major reason for their decline is the use of illegal gillnets … that’s a type of netting that catches fish by the gills and prevents their escape. The Vaquita aren’t always the target for gillnets, but become ensnared all the same. In 2014 the estimated number of individuals was less than 100 … by 2016 that number was down to 60. Unless greater conservation efforts are undertaken, it’s speculated that this species could become extinct within 5 years time. CUTEST And TINIEST Sea Creatures!
Check out the Most CUTE And TINY Sea Creatures! This top 10 list of smallest dea sea animals has some of the tiniest and cutest creatures you've ever seen! Baby Starfish Check out this little dude. Or dudette. It gets a little complicated because starfish can have both male and female anatomy all at once. That’s gonna make for a complicated discussion with the parents later in life. When he or she is bigger they’ll look a bit different, but for now let’s enjoy the sight of a squishy-looking baby starfish! 9. Baby Green Sea Urchin Sea urchins are among the most mysterious creatures of the sea. And they are prickly!! But just like any other creature they can be so cute when they’re young! An important thing you should know is that the urchin goes through an extraordinary transformation process that wouldn’t look out of place on a show like Star Trek. 8. Glaucus Atlanticus This creature looks just like a pokemon, doesn’t it?? Like a Pokemon, it’s sweet but can be dangerous. Another name for this fascinating critter, known as Glaucus Atlanticus is ‘blue dragon’, and dragons aren’t known for being friendly. But in this cute little tiny size, who can resist? Because they are so pretty! They are also known as blue angels and sea swallows. Full grown the can be up to 3 centimeters long. 7. Baby Octopus Nothing will make your day more than the sight of a baby octopus! So heartwarming! Which is interesting really because an octopus is born with three hearts! Plus it’s a baby octopus and practically any baby sea creature is bound to be cute. I just don’t have enough time in this video!! 6. Sea Bunny This is another case of something that looks downright adorable but is in fact deceptively badass. Still extremely cute though, right? Meet the Sea Bunny Slug which looks just like some kind of sweet and tiny, furry creature. Native to the Indo-Pacific Ocean, it’s a slug whose less adorable name is Jorunna parva. 5. Baby Frogfish The frogfish has a reputation as a famous undersea imitator. It has excellent camouflage and can blend in with its surroundings and fool both predators and prey. When it’s a baby however, it does a pretty good impression of something that’s super cute. Look at the little fella. Awww! 4. Little Nudibranch Well look who it is… a baby nudibranch. Hey there we were just talking about you! Seems to be a lot of little slugs in the ocean! Not that we’re complaining when you look this adorable. The name comes from ‘Nudibranchia’ meaning ‘naked gills’ which is kind of odd as their gills are feathery. 3. Baby Ghost Crab Of all the entries on this list, this one definitely has the most unappealing name. Ghost Crab sounds kind of spooky!! It has another name which is the “Mole Crab” which doesn’t exactly sell it to us. But what’s in a name! This little guy is considered by some to be very tiny and cute! 2. Baby Seahorse Baby seahorses are arguably the cutest thing you’ll find in the ocean. Want to know something that’ll make them seem even cuter? They’re the product of love, not just procreation. Well, we like to think of it that way! The male and the female stay together for life, and perform a kind of dance as part of a ritual each morning. How romantic! 1. Baby Sea Turtle Sea turtles are loved by just about everyone, but baby sea turtles? They give baby seahorses a run for their money!! The female sea turtles will make the tiresome journey to get to the sandy beach, dig a hole and lay up to 100 eggs. The sea turtles will then hatch and make a mad dash for the water, trying to avoid all kinds of predators from birds to foxes, to racoons, to the ghost crab. What Lives At The BOTTOM Of The Mariana Trench?

Frilled Shark The frilled shark has been around a long, LONG time. They’re ‘living fossils’, thought to have been swimming around for anywhere between 95 and 300 million years! Also while they were first discovered in approx 1880 they weren’t actually described until 2004 (the same ROV mission as the barreleye fish). This is one predator that really knows how to keep its head down. It lives at a depth of over 5,000 ft (1524 m). 9. Hatchet Fish Okay so if you came face to face with this dude you’d get one hell of a shock right? Meet the deep sea hatchet fish, so called because of its metallic, hatchet-shaped appearance. It can be found 5,000 ft (1,524 m) down. The metal like quality comes from its scales which is just as well because if it weren’t so shiny you’d have trouble seeing it! 8. Seadevil Anglerfish You’ve probably seen this one in the movies. A seadevil anglerfish appeared in Finding Nemo and the image has been used in some high profile shows like The Simpsons. They were first described in 1864 and can live at a depth of over 6,000 feet (1900 m). Like many deep sea species its movements are mysterious to experts and the only one filmed alive was in 2014. 7. Telescope Octopus Some deep sea animals like to take it easy, I mean there’s a lot of pressure down there!! Maybe none more so than the telescope octopus. Living anywhere from 500 - 6,500 ft (150 - 2000 m) below the surface it’s really laid back. In fact that’s literally what it does… lie back and use its eyes to look up for any food swimming by. 6. Benthocodon Usually when you think of a jellyfish you think of a transparent wobbly thing that stings your foot. Well not this one. The benthocodon isn’t transparent. It has a round, red top which is 2 - 3 cm in diameter and it won’t sting you unless you run into it 2,500 ft (762 m) below the surface. You’d have to be pretty crazy to be at that depth and even crazier without any flippers! 5. Barreleye Fish This fish with a transparent head shocked viewers when it appeared on Blue Planet! Also known as a “spookfish” it has a jelly-like forehead that allows it to look up through its skull, giving it greater visibility! Pretty freaky huh? It is a very efficient hunter that can live at a depth of at least 2,600 feet (800 m) and can be anywhere from 15 to 40 cm long. 4. Goblin Shark This shark is one ugly shark, hence why we call it the goblin shark! Of course I wouldn’t say that to its face poor thing! But its sword-like snout and prehistoric appearance makes it truly unique. 3. Zombie Worm Zombie worms, also known as bone-eating worms, were discovered by accident in 2002 when they appeared to be drilling into the skeletons of dead animals like whales and fish. This confused experts because they looked too squishy to be able to drill like that, but that is how they got their name. The answer came later on in 2012. 2. Foraminifera Foraminifera or ‘fora’ are tiny organisms from the ‘protist’ family. They vary between 100 micrometers and around 20 cm. Because many of them are so small and I’m guessing chewy, they are a prime source of food in the Mariana Trench. That’s a shame because there’s a lot more to these little things than meets the eye. 1. Ping Pong Tree Sponge The strangest name on our list is also the nastiest! Sure, Ping Pong Tree Sponge sounds like something out of Spongebob Squarepants and it’s one beautiful-looking life form. But despite this charming exterior this isn’t a thing to be messed with! It lives nearly 9000 ft (2743 m) underwater and if you’re a small creature it spells bad news. Most BIZARRE Sea Creature Behavior!
Check out the most bizarre sea creature behaviour! This top 10 list of weird and strange deep sea animals have some odd behavior you'll be surprised to hear! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "STRANGEST Artifacts Ever Discovered!" video here: https://youtu.be/gG0XGt3jFZA Watch our "SECRETS Casinos DON'T Want You To Find Out!" video here: https://youtu.be/hAoABuvzOZM Watch our "RAREST And Most EXPENSIVE Cars In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/MtCnWSqqilg 11. Be The Leaf So, when you're in the waters of the oceans or seas below, you know that to survive, you have to adapt to what's around you. Whether that be through knowing what predators are a threat to you, or knowing your surroundings, it's better to be prepared than eaten. However, the Orbicular Batfish takes it to a whole other level. 10. No Head On its Shoulders Sometimes a behavior doesn't mean a personality trait, it can simply mean that there's something about the creature that just makes it weird. It can’t help it! A great example of this is the Ghoulfish. 9. The More To Smell You With There are cases when an adaptation or skill is useful beyond the ways that people perceive them. Animals surprise humans all the time with what they can do with what they have. But, in certain cases, it's just flat out strange what's going on. Like what? Well, how about how Bony Fish actually have more than one set of nostrils?? 8. This Is My Spot One of the coolest things to see on certain nature documentaries about the ocean are the bizarre movements of octopuses and other sea creatures. From schools of fish moving around to sharks launching themselves out of the water to catch food, it’s highly entertaining. 7. See Me Now? Light is meant to be everywhere, even in the darkest of places. And many creatures under the water use light to move around, or to lure in creatures for them to eat. However, there are cases where using light actually seems like a detriment for creatures instead of a helping asset. 6. Will You Stand? When you think about fish, what are the characteristics you think of? Do you picture it swimming around? With its fins, its gills? And at any moment have you ever wondered, "Man, wouldn't it be cool if a fish could stand?" No, you don't, do you. But, that's exactly what the Tripod Fish does!! It uses extensions on its fins to actually stand underwater. 5. Water Assassins While this list is about odd behavior, some of these ones are just plain scary in how "natural" this behavior is for them. For example the Archerfish. A fish that truly earned its name for the scariest (and admittedly coolest) of reasons. 4. A Whale Of A Congregation Animals are unique in many ways, and just like humans, they can either be very social, or very solitary. It just depends on the species and their natural instincts. So, when a solitary creature suddenly starts popping up with dozens upon dozens of its friends, people take notice. And that's exactly what's been going on with the Humpback Whale. 3. Flip Or Fly All animals need to eat, right? And creatures have come up with some unique ways to get their food! From Manta Rays to Eagle Rays, these majestic creatures have all been seen leaping out of the water like crazy!! Scientists were very intrigued when they started studying their eating habits. 2. Inside Out Squids are some of the most amazing, terrifying, and unique creatures in the waters. You've already met the Googly-Eyed Squid, but now, here’s a squid that can do some extremely odd things. 1. Puke Attack So how would you defend yourself against an enemy? Would you use your fists, your feet, a weapon? Or, maybe you'll try and use their own strength against them? All’s fair when you’re threatened but it’s not so easy when you’re in the deep sea!!! BIGGEST Sea Creatures Around The World!
Check out the biggest sea creatures around the world! This top 10 list of largest ocean animals on earth features some crazy monsters lurking in the deep sea! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "Most TERRIFYING Sea Monsters Ever!" video here: https://youtu.be/B9aPB6KB504 Watch our "CREEPY Fish From The Deep Sea!" video here: https://youtu.be/IjbRmTvO1_g Watch our "Most MYSTERIOUS Ocean Facts!" video here: https://youtu.be/BzrlpgRVPQg 10.) Fin Whale The fin whale is the second largest creature on Earth after the blue whale. It has been severely affected by commercial whaling and now it is rare to see one. If you have seen one, consider yourself lucky! They can grow as long as 89 feet (27 m) in length and can weigh between 40 to 80 tons! The maximum ever recorded weighed in at 114 tons!! They can live to be over 100 years old if left alone. The fin whale’s body is built for speed and it can even go faster than the fastest ocean steamship. It’s capable of speeds of up to 37 km/h but can go short bursts of even 47 km/h, earning it the nickname “greyhound of the sea”. Fin Whales have a very unique coloring with the right underside of their jaw, right lip, and the right side of their baleen being a yellowish-white, while the left-side is gray, making them look asymmetrical. Fun fact, fin whales and blue whales make the lowest frequency sounds of any animals. When they were first recorded by submarines, scientists thought they were tectonic plates grinding. Kind of makes you wonder about what is causing other mysterious ocean sounds! 9.) Portuguese Man of War While this is often considered a jellyfish, the Portuguese man-of-war is actually not an “it” but a “they”! It is made up of a colony of organisms called polyps that work together known as a siphonophore. While the tentacles can extend 165 feet (50 m), the average is about 30 feet (9 m) long. Still nothing to scoff at!! Also known as “the floating terror”, their body is between 5 inches to a foot wide (13 cm- 130 cm). They are usually found in groups of about a thousand or more, and have no independent means of movement. They either drift on the currents or catch the wind, so even though you should be super careful of jellyfish, they aren’t ever out to get you on purpose! The tentacles on a man-of-war are extremely venomous and very painful if you get stung but they are rarely deadly. The venom is typically used to paralyze their prey, such as small fish and other smaller creatures. Also keep in mind that a man-of-war does not need to be alive in order to give off a powerful sting, even if it has washed up on shore and looks dead, it can still sting you! The Portuguese man-of-war floats around the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the Indian and Pacific. So keep an eye out if you are swimming around these areas! 8.) Giant Clam The giant clam is the largest living bivalve mollusk on earth. (Bivalve mollusks include clams, oysters, and mussels). Native to the warm waters of Australia's Great Barrier Reef, giant clams are capable of growing an average of 4 feet (1 m) in length and weighing close to 500 pounds (250 kg)! However, some species of clams have been known to grow as long as 6 feet. The large majority of a giant clam’s mass is in its shell, with the soft parts accounting for only approximately 10% of the weight. Giant clams are now endangered because they apparently are also quite delicious and have been hunted for centuries for its healthy protein. The giant clam has one chance to find its perfect home because once it chooses its spot, it stays there for the rest of its life. They can live up to 100 years or more, as long as they are in the wild. Most of the giant clams you see today have been raised in captivity and are really popular in large aquariums. Giant clams achieve their enormous proportions by consuming the sugars and proteins produced by the billions of algae that live in their tissues. This symbiotic relationship protects the algae and they are responsible for the unique coloration. No two giant clams are alike! 7.) Great White Shark According to National Geographic, great white sharks are the largest predatory fish in the world. They grow to an average of 15 feet (4.6 m) in length. However, there have been some who have grown to 20 feet (6 m) in length! In fact, the largest Great White Shark ever recorded in the wild was estimated to be 26 feet long, which is more than half the length of a basketball court. Combine this with a bunch of teeth, and this is why people get so scared. They are known to weigh up to 5,000 pounds (2268 kg). The heaviest Great White Shark ever recorded in the wild was estimated to weigh in at a whopping 7,328 pounds. . Leafy Seadragon Another creature from ocean that is sure to make waves when you realize it's real, is the Leafy Seadragon. A perfect name for it! When you look at it, it looks like a simple piece of seaweed, yet, it's actually alive. The creature was found off the coast of Australia, and is proof that the ocean still holds many secrets. 13. Angora Rabbits What is there to say? This is a rabbit that has so much fur, you honestly can't tell that it's a rabbit. I bet you were expecting something much different when I mentioned "rabbit" in the title, huh? 12. Pangolin There are a lot of weird creatures out in the world, and some of them look like fusions between other animals. One example of this is the Pangolin, a mammal known to roam the lands of Asia and Africa. It's also one of the most trafficked mammals in the world. 11. Komondor Take a look at this breed of dog. Do you think that this breed was made to look like this? You’d think someone spent hours and hours creating dreadlocks in this dogs fur, but nope! This it the Komondor, and that's exactly how it looks without anyone touching it. 10. Axolotl From the weird to the creepy, I present to you the Axolotl. Yes, it really does look like that in real life, that's why it's on this list. 9. Glass Frogs It's incredible the evolutions and adaptations that animals will go through during their lifecycles on this planet. However, you have to question some of them. While the armor of the Pangolin is understandable, this creature’s evolution is a little mysterious. Here we have a frog...that's see-through. 8. The Dumbo Octopus The name isn't referring to these Octopuses being stupid, far from it. They're called this because they have fins near the top of their heads that resemble flappy ears. Just like Dumbo the elephant from the Disney movie. 7. Saiga Antelope From the depths of the ocean to the vastness of Asia, three countries are home to a very curious breed of antelope. It's called the Saiga Antelope, and it’s a pretty strange creature. 6. Pacu Fish Piranha are one of the most dangerous fish in the world, and have sometimes even been considered some of the most dangerous animals in the world. But their cousins, for lack of a better term, are definitely one of the strangest animals in the world. They're called the Pacu fish, and they'll give you nightmares for different reasons. 5. The Mary River Turtle This one not only looks strange, it acts strange. This is the Mary River Turtle. It can be found in Queensland, Australia, and yes, it has green, spiky hair. Why does it have green hair? No idea, but you have to admit it looks kinda cool, right?? 4. Gharial Let's talk now about one of the strangest and rarest animals in the world, from a family that you wouldn't expect to see on this list...a crocodile. Specifically the Gharial. 3. The Sun Bear Another type of animal you might not have expected to see on this list is a bear. Yet, there is one bear that most definitely qualifies, the Sun Bear. 2. Sphynx Cat I hate to break it to you but Sphynx cats didn’t originally come from Egypt. These cats are born hairless due to a genetic mutation and started getting bred on purpose in the 1970’s. 1. Platypus Ah, the Platypus, or as some call it "nature's reject". Why? Because this animal literally looks like it was sewn together by a mad scientist. Or as one cartoon depicted, God running out of ideas and just throwing something together. In my opinion, it's extremely cute! 10 Sea Monsters ATTACKING A Boat!
Check out these 10 sea monsters attacking a boat! This top 10 list of ocean creatures like whales and great white sharks attacking a ship shows some bizarre stories caught on camera! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "MYSTERIOUS Creatures Living At The BOTTOM Of The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/Efhjc-Gu508 Watch our "SECRETS Casinos DON'T Want You To Find Out!" video here: https://youtu.be/hAoABuvzOZM Watch our "RAREST And Most EXPENSIVE Cars In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/MtCnWSqqilg 10. Great White Shark If you’ve been on a boat out on the ocean, a Jaws attack has probably crossed your mind. Even if it’s just barely!! Then of course you rationalize that the chances of that happening are practically 0. Practically. That’s what Terry Selwood, a 73-year-old Australian fisherman learned in 2017, when a great white shark leapt out of the water, into his boat!! 9. An Eagle Ray Rays seem like beautiful, serene creatures - but they can be extremely dangerous, even if you’re on the relative safety of a large tourist boat. In 2011, Jenny Hausch had rented a 26-foot catamaran for her family to take a trip in Florida. Sounds really nice right? 8. Swordfish In 2017, Alan Pope, a British tourist, was on a boat trip getting ready to go snorkeling in Indonesia when everything went horribly wrong. Without any warning, a swordfish jumped out of the water and into the boat, and impaled his neck with its bill. The end snapped off, and left six inches of the sword still jabbed inside his neck, just millimeters from instantly killing him. 7. Sperm Whales The Gulf of Alaska is a prime fishing location, especially for those trying to catch black cod. In these waters, though, there is a much larger creature that also likes eating the fish- sperm whales. They are the ocean’s largest toothed predators, and while they are quite capable of catching food for themselves, they much prefer taking the easy route. 6. Giant Squid Mostly creatures of legend, giant squids are mentioned in many old mariners tales of dangers at sea. But they are rarely seen, let alone involved in attacking boats. So when a team of French sailors came face to face with one in 2003, they almost didn’t believe it!! 5. Bull Shark You might think that a great white shark would be the most problematic shark species to boats, but there’s another type that can be more aggressive, and more likely to risk an encounter. 4. Jellyfish Sometimes it’s the smallest things that can have the biggest effect, something that became ever so apparent in 2017 when Chinese scientists were investigating why their aircraft carriers were experiencing difficulties. They found that large swarms of Jellyfish were getting caught up in the propulsion systems! This would stop the ships dead in their tracks, or cause the engines to overheat and cause extreme damage. 3. Mako Shark This next story took place just last year, 2017 in Long Island, New York. A fishing charter boat was taking guests to the location where they find the widest variety of fish, when suddenly a Mako shark jumped onto the side of the boat. Unfortunately for the fish, it managed to get itself stuck in the handrail of the boat and, despite thrashing about, it couldn’t free itself. 2. Black Marlin Game fishing is a popular pastime for many enthusiasts, but when you’re chasing after some of the largest and most powerful marine creatures on earth, you have to be ready for the unpredictable. Again last year, things went very wrong indeed for a fishing boat off the coast of Panama. They had caught a black marlin, a species that can weight up to 1500 pounds and reach speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. 1. Killer Whale If you’ve ever watched a nature documentary that’s featured Killer Whales, you’ll be all too familiar how organised and clever they can be. Pods work together to catch prey, and even tilt ice flows to trap seals. When they turn these skills towards human activity, the results can be frightening. Description: Ok guys and girls, welcome back to The Supreme – your number 1 stop for tops lists anywhere on YouTube! I’m your host Matty Willz, and today we’ll be talking about – what I’m sure you could guess from today’s title – some of the biggest, nastiest and meanest sea creatures found anywhere across the world – with today’s title – This is the BIGGEST Sea Creature You Will Ever See! Want to become part of the Supreme Team? Make sure to subscribe down below with notifications ON so you don’t miss anything we post each day! Let’s get rollin! 10 Giant Pacific Octopus Alrighty folks up first on today’s list is something that looks a bit more like a monster, than an animal – and it’s a creature that no only is massively huge, but also a master of camouflage as well, which we’ll cover in just a bit. But the Giant Pacific Octopus, which can be found – well, you guessed it – in the Pacific waters stretching from Korea and Japan, all the way to North Alaska and even parts of Southern California. This gigantic sea dwelling animal can reach up to about 30 feet in length, which is pretty insane considering a deep-sea diver would probably only be about 6 feet tall. For it’s size, they prefer more shallow, coastal waters – usually only diving down to depths of around 300 feet. What most people don’t know is that these animals are carnivores, and in the wild will usually only live to about 5 years old – but there have been cases to see them live much longer than that. So, what do you think? 9 Portuguese Man o’ War Alright in the interest of keeping things moving right along – let’s go ahead and do just that. Now this next clip features an animal that – to be 100 percent honest with you – I’ve never heard of before – HOWEVER – I would DEFINITELY like to submit the name of this animal into consideration for the best animal names on earth! As this guy is called The Portuguese Man o’ War! The portu-what? Yeah, the Portuguese Man o’ War. Now, at first glance it’s sort of even difficult to estimate what kind of animal this even is. I mean, it looks like a jellyfish or a squid or – well heck, it even kind of looks like an alien. And that’s for good reason, because according to science this isn’t even really one animal – it’s actually a quote ‘collection of organs to move together to act as one’. Wait, what? How is that even possible? Well this colony of individuals are called zooids, and they are all responsible for an independent task that forms the entire animal’s behavior. Still confused? Well, yeah, so am I. 8 The Ocean Sunfish Alright let’s keep things moving right along, up next we have another creature that before today I had never heard of! Which, isn’t too surprising. But check this out! This is the ocean sunfish. One quick fun fact about this huge, ugly – again, no offense – fish, is that if you look closely you’ll notice that it doesn’t have a tail, which is obviously unique for underwater creatures. So for all intents and purposes, this fish is pretty much just a big ol’head. A head that can grow up to about 10 feet long! It feasts all day on small jellyfish, other fish, and even squids - and because this fish is so big and rigid, as you could probably imagine is that the ocean sunfish really doesn’t have that many natural predators – even though sharcs, orca, and even larger sea lions will attack this oddly shaped sea animal. A couple quick fun facts about this ocean sunfish before we move on. For one, it’s the largest quote ‘boney’ fish found anywhere on the planet! Also, the biggest one ever weighed came in at 2.7 tons. 7 Giant Squid We promise to bring you the biggest, nastiest and flat out meanest animals in the oceans, and that’s exactly what we’re gonna do! OK let’s move on to the next clip. Google Earth actually captured a mysterious image of an animal just beneath the water. Experts are claiming that this is a giant squid that measures – get this –from 60 to 80 feet in length. 60 to 80 feet! Now in comparison, the largest squid ever caught and documented was almost 43 feet, so there is a bit of a difference there. But, what do you think? Is this indeed the infamous giant squid? Can you imagine swimming in the ocean, minding your own business, and coming across something alive that’s that large! Sheesh. I gotta say, it isn’t anything I’d be looking forward to. 6 Mysterious Sea Animal 5 ?? 4 ?? 3 ?? 2 ?? 1 ?? Most MYSTERIOUS Sea Monster Carcasses Ever Found!
Check out the most mysterious sea monsters carcasses ever found! From unidentified sea creatures to bizarre ocean animals washed ashore, this top 10 list is shrouded in mystery! Russian Specimen In 2015, the world was once again amazed as a mysterious creature washed up on a Russian beach. A giant sea creature with a bird-like "beak" and fur on its tail sparked controversy in hours! Russian social media went crazy! It was said to be similar to a dolphin but was twice the size of your average human. On top of that, it had fur. Pretty strange since sea creatures are not commonly seen with fur!! Some claim it resembles a Ganges River dolphin, which are normally found in the freshwater regions of India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. These dolphins have a small hump instead of a dorsal fin, a brown coloring and the tendency to swim on their sides. But, there is one fact that these theorists are ignoring. Ganges dolphins do not have fur! Oh yeah! Plus, they are much smaller than this mysterious Russian creature. Because of this, these individuals counter back with their suggestion that the creature was simply a washed up llama or other mammal. They say perhaps the beak was actually a snout and the body composition was previously mistaken for a sea creature. To this day, no one knows for sure what it is, and chances are…it’s probably too late now! 8. New Zealand Beast New Zealand hasn’t had just one case of a sea monster carcass shrouded in mystery. Back in 2013, a mysterious thing washed ashore causing insane speculation across the country. The Daily Mail reports that “A YouTube video filmed by Elizabeth Ann on Pukehina Beach shows the half-buried head of a carcass with jagged teeth and gaping jaws”. Only its head and what looks like flippers are visible above the sand. This beast could have been up to 30 feet long!! A marine biologist suggested it was a whale. Other theories ranged from a seal to a crocodile to a dinosaur!! Yes, people say it is some ancient creature that no longer exists! What that creature really was has yet to be determined. 7. Bermuda Blob There is no doubt that Bermuda is full of mysteries. One of these is the appearance of not one…but two mysterious blobs that appeared nearly ten years apart. The Bermuda Blob is the name given to two globsters, or unidentified sea creature carcasses, that washed ashore on Bermuda in 1988 and 1997. The first Bermuda Blob was found by Teddy Tucker, a fisherman and treasure hunter, in Mangrove Bay in May 1988. The man said the blob was about "2½ to 3 feet thick . . . very white and fibrous . . . with five 'arms or legs,' rather like a disfigured star." To further prove its existence, samples of the specimen were gathered and analyzed in 1995. It is believed that these specimens were from a poikilothermic sea creature, either a large teleost or an elasmobranch. Yeah, that really clears it up doesn’t it?? This just means it was a large bony fish, shark or ray. Another suggested that the remains belonged to a whale. The same thing happened in 1997 but it wasn’t analyzed until 2004. Evidence from this sample suggested a whale again. But of course, nothing was ever proven, and science itself leaves this case open, as another one of the ocean’s greatest mysteries. 6. Muriwai Monster Some other very strange things have been popping up on New Zealand beaches after the earthquakes in 2016. The large weird-looking object that looked like it was covered in dreadlocks washed up on Muriwai beach in Auckland. Melissa Doubleday discovered it and thought it was a beached whale. She posted pictures to facebook to get some ideas and people suggested everything from a sea monster with dreadlocks to an alien pod time capsule! The real answer is probably way more boring than this. New Zealand Marine Sciences Society believes it is a piece of driftwood covered in gooseneck barnacles. Gooseneck barnacles are crustaceans that attach themselves to driftwood or rocks, but this is a rather extreme case, wouldn’t you say? They normally use biochemical cement and a peduncle to glue themselves onto objects underwater. They then ride water currents to wave their appendages in order to filter out food particles. Fun fact: Gooseneck barnacles are said to be a delicacy in Spain and Portugal. Now, does this amazing creature really look like a thousand appetizers? Or does it look more like a Rastafarian sea monster? That’s what I thought!
