20 WORST PRODUCT NAMES OF ALL TIME

02:21
We've all had ideas that sounded great at the time, only to have a "what the hell was I thinking?" moment somewhere down the line. Usually, these types of things involve deep-fried bacon-wrapped bacon, or a novel new use for the claw end of a hammer—and as such they only end up with either some mild embarrassment or a short trip to urgent care. That is, of course, unless the idea is hatched by a manufacturer of consumer products. In these circumstances it can result in tons of misspent advertising cash, warehouses full of unsold product, and people making fun of you on the Internet until the end of time. Here is a list of some of the all time worst names ever given to a product for you amusement. Getting consumers to pluck a product off the shelf is a tough task on its own. Convincing them to take a chance on a product with a name that makes them recoil in horror is an exercise in masochism. Companies are obsessed with "trial" -- the moment in which a consumer is so swayed by marketing, packaging or product claims that they drop their guard and try something new. It's the reason Costco (COST) is littered with sampling stations, 7-Eleven is rife with colorful point-of-sale displays and Netflix (NFLX) offers the first month for free. The meaning behind IKEA product names

02:08
IKEA has a very specific system in place for naming its products. For example, rugs are named after towns in Denmark or Sweden, while bed and bath accessories are named after flowers and plants. Following is a transcript of the video. The Swedish company has more than 12,000 products. Each product has a unique name that may seem odd at first, but there's actually a consistent system in place. The naming system came from IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad. Kamprad had dyslexia, a learning disorder that can make it difficult to read. He had trouble remembering item codes, so he simplified it. So, how does the IKEA naming system work? Products are named after a specific Swedish word chosen based on the type of product. For instance, outdoor furniture is named after Scandinavian islands. Äpplarö is named after this island in Stockholm Rugs are named after towns in Denmark or Sweden. The Kattrup rug is named after this small Denmark town Bed and bath accessories are named after flowers and plants. Ullvide? It's the Swedish word for the plant Salix Lanata aka Woolly Willow, Beds are named after areas in Norway, like Hemnes. Shelves are named after occupations or boys' names, while fabrics and curtains are female names. So, while it may look strange at first glance to the Swedish, these product names are pretty familiar. -------------------------------------------------- Follow BI Video on Twitter: http://bit.ly/1oS68Zs Follow BI on Facebook: http://bit.ly/1W9Lk0n Read more: http://www.businessinsider.com/ -------------------------------------------------- Business Insider is the fastest growing business news site in the US. 16 FAMOUS LOGOS WITH A HIDDEN MEANING (That We Never Even Noticed)

06:33
How to design a successful logo? How to build a famous brand for your business? Some of the most well-known logos in the world were purposefully designed to indicate something much more than simple beauty. In fact, it seems that in some cases, every line, curve, and color has meaning behind it. Adidas, Apple, BMW, Coca-Cola, Toyota… We see these famous brands everywhere but never consider what their logos exactly mean. Curious to know the secret? Watch the 16 famous logos with a hidden meaning you've never noticed. #logomeaning #logosecret # Hyundai 0:33 The letter ’Н’ symbolizes two people – a client and a representative of the company – shaking hands. Adidas 0:52 The current logo is three stripes at an angle which together form a triangle. This symbolizes a mountain, which in turn represents the challenges that all sportsmen have to overcome day after day. Apple 1:21 Rob Janoff, the designer who came up with the world-famous Apple company logo, explained his idea in one of his interviews. He bought a bag of apples, placed them in a bowl, and spent time drawing them for a week, trying to break the image down into something simple. Vaio 1:58 The first two letters of the Vaio logo symbolize an analogue wave. The last two are similar to the numbers 1 and 0 — that is, symbols of a digital signal. Amazon 2:14 The orange arrow is similar to a smile because the company wants its customers to be satisfied. The arrow is also stretched between the letters ’A’ and ’Z’, in a hint that the company sells absolutely every product you can imagine. Baskin Robbins 2:40 The pink-colored parts of the "BR" section make up the number 31, which is how many ice cream flavors Baskin Robbins used to famously sell. Toyota 2:56 The logo represents a stylized image of a needle eye with a thread passing through it. This is a hint at the company’s past – they used to produce weaving machines. Continental 3:28 Continental, a famous car tire producer, has a logo in which the first two letters depict a car wheel. Formula 1 3:41 If you look carefully at the white space between the letter ’F’ and the red stripes, you can see the number 1. Pinterest 3:59 On Pinterest, people collect images they like from across the Internet and ’pin’ them to their online boards. That’s why the image of a pin is hidden in the letter P. Beats 4:17 Beats, an audio equipment producer based in the USA, uses a logo in which the letter ’B’ looks like headphones on a person’s head. Toblerone 4:32 The famous chocolate company based in Bern, Switzerland, has a silhouette of a bear in its logo. That's because Bern is sometimes called a city of bears. BMW 4:55 The logo is simply a part of the Bavarian flag, the area of Germany where the company originated. LG 5:18 The logo is a stylized image of a person’s face. According to the company, this represents its aspiration to have human relations with their customers. Evernote 5:34 The corner of the elephant’s ear is folded over in a similar way how people fold the corner of a page to make notes. Coca-Cola 5:57 In the space between the letters ’O’ and ’L’, you can see the Danish flag. It’s purely a coincidence. Nevertheless, Coca-Cola has used this as part of its marketing campaigns in the Scandinavian country. If you’ve enjoyed this video, hit that thumbs up button! Weird & Funny Food Product Names - Just for Fun

Here are some funny and rude food names! Sometimes advertisers just get it wrong. A mix of funny, rude, and crazy food names from around the world. Unbelievably Weird & Funny Food Product Names - As part of the HOW TO COOK GREAT NETWORK - http://www.howtocookgreatfood.com Also take a look at our channel for other great cooking genres. And look at the websites for in detail recipes, gallery and cooking tips. http://www.howtocookgreatethiopian.com http://www.howtocookgreatjamaican.com http://www.howtocookgreatcurry.com http://www.howtocookgreatfilipino.com https://plus.google.com/+howtocookgreat/posts Curry /ˈkʌri/, plural curries, is the generic English term primarily employed in Western culture to denote a wide variety of dishes whose origins are Southern and Southeastern Asian cuisines, as well as New World cuisines influenced by them such as Trinidadian, Mauritian or Fijian. Their common feature is the incorporation of complex combinations of spices and/or herbs, usually including fresh or dried hot chillies. In original traditional cuisines, the precise selection of spices for each dish is a matter of national or regional cultural tradition, religious practice, and, to some extent, family preference. Such dishes are called by specific names that refer to their ingredients, spicing, and cooking methods. http://www.howtocookgreatcurry.comTraditionally, spices are used both whole and ground; cooked or raw; and they may be added at different times during the cooking process to produce different results. Curry powder, prepared mixture of spices, is largely a Western notion, dating to the 18th century. Such mixtures are commonly thought to have first been prepared by Indian merchants for sale to members of the British Colonial government and army returning to Britain. Dishes called "curry" may containhttp://www.howtocookgreatcurry.com meat, poultry, fish, or shellfish, either alone or in combination with vegetables. They may instead be entirely vegetarian, especially among those for whom there are religious proscriptions against eating meat or seafood.Curries may be either "wet" or "dry." Wet curries contain significant amounts of sauce or gravy based on yoghurt, coconut milk, legume purée (dal), or stock. Dry curries are cooked with very little liquid which is allowed to evaporate, leaving the other ingredients coated with the spice mixture. The main spices found in most South Asian curry powders are turmeric, coriander, and cumin; a wide range of additional spices may be included depending on the geographic region and the foods being included (white/red meat, fish, lentils, rice and vegetables). Curry was adopted and anglicised from the Tamil word kari (கறி) meaning 'sauce', which is usually understood to mean vegetables and/or meat cooked with spices with or without a gravy. According to this theory, http://www.howtocookgreatcurry.com

The beauty industry is constantly looking to catch our attention. And good marketing will zero in on words and images that will grab that attention. Types of Brand Names

03:08
Philips Aquatouch: http://amzn.to/2zPvIpG Samsung Galaxy: http://amzn.to/2CcWxtY POND's: http://amzn.to/2Cfe04M In the perspective of entrepreneurs, in how many ways can the brand name be considered? Depending on the varieties of products offered by the business, entrepreneurs follow different policies in arriving at a brand name. The names chosen should be able to grab attention from the public. For this reason the entrepreneur should be chose their brand strategy very carefully as this summarizes the purpose and goal of the organization. Usually from the perspective of entrepreneurs the brand names can be considered in the following ways. - Individual brand name: Each product in the portfolio is given a different brand name. - Family brand name: A range of products in the portfolio are offered with the same name. The name used can be either the entrepreneur’s name or the business name. This type of branding is also referred to as umbrella branding. Ponds offering its various products under one umbrella name refers to this type of strategy. - Corporate names: In this type of branding the company’s name or logo along with some brand names of individual products. For instance Philips company offers its one of shavers are Philips aquatouch, and Samsung offering its phones as Samsung Galaxy - Alpha-numeric names: The alpha-numeric names are used to highlight the physical characteristics of a product. This strategy ensures that each product will have its own unique identity. For instance Philips aquatouch AT620/14 and Philips Aquatouch AT890/16 are distinguished by the alphanumerics AT620/14 and AT890/16. 15 Worst Product Names Ever

15 Worst Product Names in the World . Thanks for Watching. Please Subscribe, Like, Share and Comment. Royalty Free Music by http://audiomicro.com/royalty-free-music We can only imagine the time and money that goes into creating a successful product line and, more important, its catchy name. There are many items that succeed in doing both, but some, not so much. Top 10. SamOscarz21. Top 10s, Most Expensive, 2013 Marketers do a great job of convincing us to buy stuff (often stuff we don't need) -- but through the annals of history they have occasionally gotten things wrong. This is a list of the ten most unfortunately named products. Are these the worst-named products ever made? Product Name Fails are something all marketing campaigns want to avoid, when marketing a product, deciding on the right product name is crucial for selling. In today's collection we'll be going through the Biggest Product Name Fails! When you go out looking for Products, the product names below will turn you off buying them. With Funny Product Names like Crunky Ball Nude, Pet Sweat and Homo Soap, you'll never look at the products the same way! What were they thinking? From candy to shoes to toys, these names will make you cringe.

10 “Generic” Product Names You Didn’t Realize Were TRADEMARKS

19:42
Check out our New Biography Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/biographics A trademark usually presents itself in the form of a name, a logo, a design, or a phrase, with the purpose of distinguishing one manufacturer’s products from another. Sometimes, however, when business is really good for a particular brand, or it has a head start over the competition, then that particular brand might just become a proprietary eponym, or generic trademark. This means that if a product develops a substantial market share over the other manufacturers, or it becomes well ingrained into the public consciousness, then its brand could replace the name for the entire industry. →Subscribe for new videos every day! https://www.youtube.com/user/toptenznet?sub_confirmation=1 Help us translate our videos: https://www.youtube.com/timedtext_cs_queue?msg=10&tab=0 - Learn more why you might want to help: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6052538 Find more lists at: http://www.toptenz.net Entertaining and educational top 10 lists from TopTenzNet! Translating Names of Ikea Products from Swedish to English - Back To School Edition

08:46
We'd love if you sign up for our weekly friend letter. http://eepurl.com/cDziIf As college freshmen are getting situated in their dorms, the chances are good that back to school preparations will feature at least one trip to Ikea. I know ours did. And since Ikea's arrival to the US years ago, we have returned time and time again to affordably and consciously decorate our homes. Nowadays, one of our silliest past times is to go into an IKEA store and have Lisa translate the names of products from Swedish into English. It's so funny because the names almost never make sense to the product. On top of that, it seems like Ikea creates the most difficult words to pronounce, making it a great place for a Swedish speaker to people watch and listen to unassuming Americans try to phonetically pronounce Swedish words. We often burst out laughing in the middle of the store as because it's so funny. So for this month's Swedish/American video, we wanted to duplicate that. Lauren has gone through Ikea's website and picked out items from the Back to School Recommendations for Lisa to translate on the fly.
