Cool Spot Longplay (Mega Drive/Genesis) [50 FPS]

01:35:24
Follow me on Twitter @ https://twitter.com/Al82_Retro Get Great Retro Scene News @ http://www.vintageisthenewold.com Developed and published by Virgin Interactive in 1993 One of the earliest games that I remember to feature corporate sponsorship so openly, Cool Spot takes the spot from the 7up soft drinks logo and turned him into a full-blown game character for this platform collect-em-up. Whether or not in-game advertising raises your hackles, there's no getting away from the fact that Cool Spot was big news at the time of it's released, and, in my opinion, the attention it received was well deserved. Programmed by David Perry, Cool Spot was released on SNES, Mega Drive and both competing 16-bit computers, the Amiga and Atari ST. It was the Amiga version that I owned back in the day. Cool Spot really was something of a poster child for the consoles. Featuring fantastic graphics, animation and some of the smoothest scrolling around, the game made full use of the hardware on offer. The controls are also spot on and I found it significantly easier to control than the Amiga version. Sure, the Amiga version had superior music with digital samples, but the Mega Drive steals the show as far as gameplay and graphics are concerned. Spot is on a mission to rescue his buddies who seem to have got themselves trapped in cages across a number of different levels. The game requires the player to locate a set number of cool tokens in each level before trying to locate the cage. Collecting more than the required quota will grant access to a bonus stage where a continue can be earned. The level themes don't seem to be connected apart from that fact they always centre on the tiny spot navigating his way around every-day objects that are much bigger than he is. While the game is great platformer, some of the levels (notable the toy-themed ones) contain far too many enemies and the novelty of killing them wears thin after a while. I'd originally intended to play the game on the hardest difficulty, but the number of enemies was even more ridiculous and would have made for some very boring viewing, hence why I decided to play it on normal. While not perfect, if you're looking for a slice of retro platforming action then Cool Spot will more than keep you occupied and comes highly recommended.

Amiga 25:11 Description Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cool_Spot Cool Spot is a mascot for 7 Up, introduced in 1987. During this time, the red spot in the 7 Up logo was anthropomorphized: given arms, legs, a mouth, and sunglasses. British video games developer Virgin Interactive's American studio produced a platform game starring the 7 Up Spot, entitled Cool Spot. It was originally developed in 1993 at Virgin Games USA by David Perry for the Mega Drive/Genesis and Super NES and then ported by other teams to Sega Master System, Sega Game Gear, Game Boy, Amiga and DOS in 1994. Gameplay: The title is a single-player platformer in which the player controls Cool Spot, who can jump, and attack by firing soda bubbles, which could be shot in all directions and while jumping. Cool Spot could also cling to and climb various things by jumping up in front of them. In each level the player must rescue other cool spots, who look exactly alike, from cages at the end of that level, which is not necessarily the point at the far right of the level map. In order to do so, the player is required to collect a certain number of "spots" that would change (usually increase) as the game progressed. "Spots" were placed across the level in large quantities, and were the game's substitute for items such as the coins in Super Mario Bros or Sonic the Hedgehog's gold rings (these were often used in this style of game, mostly for points and extra lives). A player's health is monitored by a humorous Cool Spot face that gradually bends forward and will eventually fall from its position as damage occurs. Damage is taken by touching enemies, their projectiles, or certain level obstacles. Each level is played with a time limit. If the clock reached zero, a life would be lost regardless of a player's health. If Spot lost a life and had no more lives left, the game would end, taking the player back to the title screen. The game had no save feature but did use checkpoints in the form of flagpoles. Once walked past, the flag would raise and a trumpet would sound. If a player lost a life after reaching a checkpoint, the player could restart further in the game. If the player successfully collects enough Spots to enter the Bonus Stage after defeating a level, it is possible to collect Continues by grabbing a letter hidden within the stage. Depending on the version of the game, all letters either spell "UNCOLA" (7up's slogan), or "VIRGIN" (the game's developer). If a Continue letter is collected, Spot will be able to restart on the level he was on at the time of losing his last life, although his total points will be reset.

[Sega Genesis] - Spot goes to Hollywood - Post - Nuclear

05:39
Spot Goes to Hollywood is a 2D isometric platformer developed by Eurocom and published by Virgin for the Sega Genesis in November 1995. The sequel to Cool Spot and the third game to feature Spot, the anthropomorphic red dot and then-mascot of the 7 Up brand of soft drinks. In similar vein to Sonic 3D Blast, Spot Goes to Hollywood takes the sidescrolling action of its predecessor and translate that to a sprite-based platformer in an isometric viewpoint. As one of the many Spots, players must run around various stages based on film genres, such as a pirate ship (pirate adventure genre), a haunted mansion (horror genre), an ancient ruins (adventure genre), and a space station (science-fiction genre). The game was later ported to the PlayStation and Sega Saturn by Burst, both released on November 30, 1996. Along with new graphics, new sounds, and new levels (based on the levels in the original version), the port features cutscenes that further develop the story (showing Spot being trapped inside a movie projector). Sega 32X and SNES versions were also in development but got canceled before release.

Cool Spot (SNES) Longplay [104]

01:51:20
One of the few decent marketing themed games for the SNES. A decent platformer with some nice graphics. Gets repetitive fast though. I don't know why the ending said I didn't get all requirements for the best ending since I did get all bonus level letters and the game was beaten on hard mode. This longplay was done completely blind.

The Temple - Spot Goes to Hollywood

01:46
The music that plays on the first level of the 3rd world which is based off of (what I think) is supposed to be Indiana Jones -esque movies. This level is a temple. With monkeys. Lots of monkeys. And scorpions... The baboons can shoot what I suppose are actually spells from their staffs, but who's to say they aren't farts? The other monkeys remind me of the characters from The Jungle Book, and they throw fruit at you which is more of a pain than it sounds. The scorpions react a lot like the spiders from the Haunted Mansion. I could go on and on about what's in this level if I wanted to. Tommy Tallarico composed the music for this oft overlooked gem of a game. I do not own this music, 7-Up, Sprite, or Spot. I am uploading this music in a fan-based manner and do not mean to infringe any copyrights.

10 Famous Funny Commercials

11:36
I put together ten of the most funny commercials that made me laugh and that are also famous, that have written history so to say. You find the description below. I hope you enjoy them as I did. Tell me in the comments which one is your #1 - or at least your #1.5 - I will include your vote in the ranking at the end of this text to see which commercial people like the most. These ads are included: 1. Cinesite Studios, “Beans”, also called “Not for Austronauts” or the "Astronaut Ad" from 2013, a mock ad – the non-existent Haynes Baked Beans only resemble Heinz – for the famous visual effects and feature animation studio known for movies like Harry Potter, Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: Civil War, and others whose logo appears at the end. This hillarious commercial is often shown but not always understood. 2. Doritos, "Ultrasound"/“Birth” from the 2016 Super Bowl was a highly controversial, yet extremely funny commercial that still has its fans and opponents 3. Kia niro, “Hero” with Melissa McCarthy from the 2017 Super Bowl, also refered to as “I love Whales!” that got a lot of press and features Bonnie Tyler's “Holding up for a hero” 4. Kia, “The Truth” with Laurence Fishburne as Morpheus from The Matrix, singing Nessun dorma for the Super Bowl 2014 5. It won the Cannes Grand Prix and the Grand Clio awards, and was parodied in Scary Movie in 2000, years later also by Annoying Orange and others. 11.5 Anheuser-Busch Budweiser beer / “Wassup Wasabi or just "Wasabi", the lesser known yet extremely funny follow-up to the Whassup commercial with Dookie and his wife ----------------------------------------------------------- The votes are in and the current winner is: Bud “Whassup” – true, true … Results in detail, status September 14, 2018 (votes and positive mentions counted) 1. The Space Station - Spot Goes to Hollywood

03:53
The music that plays during the 3rd level of the 4th world which is based offof futuristic movies. This is a very interesting and fun level, although tough. There's a lot of little robot enemies that move fast but on a set path. They remind me of mice. Spot is tripping over one in the picture for this level. There's also bigger androids that are round and are a spitting image of the black androids on Hoth in the Star Wars movies. If that wasn't enough there's mutant spiders and these humanoid androids.... These I am pretty sure are an upgrade of the skeletal enemies from the 2nd world... In fact they're too much of an upgrade. These bastards are out to get you and they will home-in on you, and they're fast, too, and take a lot of hits to kill, usually. The level itself is white with checkerboard panel flooring with green ooze here and there. There's a lot of Super Shoe power ups in this level along with elevators that take you up to the next parts of the level. Tommy Tallarico composed the music for this oft overlooked gem of a game. I do not own this music, 7-Up, Sprite, or Spot. I am uploading this music in a fan-based manner and do not mean to infringe any copyrights.

[Sega Genesis] - Spot goes to Hollywood - Haunted House Cellar

07:22

Hollywood Hot Spots w/ Crystal Fambrini

I appeared on San Diego CW with a "Hollwood Hot Spots" segment highlighting some great places to explore in Los Angeles featuring the best in hair, nightlife and food. First, let's talk about Hollywood hair. Ever wonder how your favorite actress has such amazing hair? Well, chances are it is extensions that's making their hair look so amazing. Before good hair extensions would a ton of money, into the thousands, but Just Extensions is the first only extensions salon in Los Angeles and they will work with your budget to get you star quality hair for much less. $100 will give you a partial row of real hair which will add volume to your tame. To learn more, schedule an appointment, visit justextensionshair.com Riveria 31 at the Sofitel Hotel often holds red carpet events, a definite hot spot. Riveria 31 is a French themed restaurant with A-list level food. The vibe is classic Hollywood with daily live entertainment in the evening that includes a pianist, jazz singers, and even burlesque. The entertainment is free and open to the public. They have a fantastic happy hour as well, for menu information, entertainment schedule, and happy hours details check out the official web site Rivier31.com Tapenade is a California Mediterranean influenced restaurant based in West Los Angeles by the well respected Chef Ressul, whose background includes working at the world famous L'Orangerie sous and Lodge at Pebble Beach. Chef Ressul created his now signature salt and pepper for each table that adds that special touch to each dish. For full menu, please visit tapenade.la LA Magazine calls my next pick "the best patio in Los Angeles." Aventine Hollywood is a definite Hollywood Hotspot, located in the middle of the action on N. Cahuenga Blvd., and welcomes a lot of celebrity diners. Everyone raves about Aventine's authentic Italian cuisine, aventinehollywood.com Lastly, I highlighted BeautyCon 2013 -- which happened the weekend of August 27th -- it's an annual event so if you are into beauty and fashion, and curious about breaking into the online beauty world, you definitely need to put this event in your schedule! - See more at: http://www.styleseendaily.com/2013/08/hollywood-hot-spots/#sthash.Sf5kht6l.dpuf

25 Famous Movie Scene Locations In Real Life Christopher Moloney, a Canadian photographer and film buff, has created a playful photo series called “FILMography” that pair scenes from famous movies with their real-life modern locations. Moloney travels to cities like New York, Rome and Ho Chi Minh to find the locations where these famous scenes were filmed. Photos like these can be pretty simple, but they require a good eye and a careful hand so that you could get the perspective just right. His photos are on display in galleries around the world, and his collection also goes on display at various film festivals like Cannes and Ischia. Unappreciated Game Music: "House Cellar" by Tommy Tallarico (Spot Goes to Hollywood)

06:02
I decided to start a new series of videos: Unappreciated Game Music. I'll be posting music most people don't seem to care about, from games most people don't seem to be aware of. Here's Tommy Tallarico's amazing and unappreciated music for the relatively unknown game "Spot Goes to Hollywood," often overlooked in favor to the first game involving the 7-UP mascot, "Cool Spot." This is great shame, as Spot Goes to Hollywood is a much more polished game, with very high production values in all aspects. Truly a forgotten gem of the Sega Genesis. While the music from this game has been uploaded to YouTube at least a couple of times already, the users who did so failed to play it at the proper speed of 50 Hz, so all the music is way too fast. That just makes me cringe. So here's the music how it was MEANT to be played and heard, at 50 Hz, and in high quality via the VGM rips I created for Project2612. This is one of my favorite video game scores of all time. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. (Note: I am aware of all the unnecessary loops, but I don't care. This music deserves at least a couple of listenings.)
