We can also say that SQL tables are kind of data structure which are used by database for efficient storage of data. To create a table in our database we use SQL CREATE TABLE command. SQL CREATE TABLE is a type of DATA DEFINITION LANGUAGE also known as DDL. To Create a table in your schema you will require CREATE TABLE system privilege. In our future videos we will see what are system and object privileges and how to grant them to a user. Today for this video we will be using Sample schema HR which already has all the necessary privileges. Ohk Let's see the syntax. CREATE TABLE table name ( column name1 Data-Type(size), column name2 Data-Type(size), ..... ); CREATE TABLE is an oracle reserved word or say an Oracle key word whereas There are 3 different ways of creating a table in Oracle database. Creating a table using Command Line Interface (CLI) in Oracle database For demonstrating how to create table in oracle database using CLI, I'll be using Command prompt. Thats how we create table using command prompt. you can check your table structure by DESCRIBE command for that just write DESC and your table name. Like this Another way of creating a table is by using Graphic user interface (GUI) in Oracle database To demonstrate how to create table using GUI we will use SQL developer. Lets open our SQL developer I am connected to HR schema if you do not know how to create a connection to database using SQL developer please watch my oracle database tutorial 4 that explains database connectivity using SQL developer and command prompt. Link for this video is in the description below. So lets create a table. Creating a table using SQL developer is very easy we do not have to fire any query here. Let's start First of all right click on your connection in which you want to create a table and choose schema browser. This will open a separate schema browser pane or you can expend your connection by clicking this + sign and then right click on table and choose New Table. However I prefer working with schema browser so let's skip to schema browser pane here from the first drop-down list you can choose connection name and in the second drop down list you can choose what database objects you want to work with we want to create a table thus I'll choose table and then click this arrow here and choose option for new table Ok we have created a table wizard first of all give a unique name to your table and add some column as well. For this, click the green plus button. Now we already have a column so give it some name. Also choose a datatype from the list and specify any size you can check this not null column if in case you want to make this a mandatory column you can also specify default value and constraint If you want to make this column a primary key you can click here In my future video i'll show you what are these constraints and different ways of applying them on a column in a table. for this video we will concentrate on create table only so when you are done with all your columns click ok Thats your table You can double click on your table here and can see its structure. Thats it

Oracle SQL Tutorial 11 - CREATE TABLE

05:04
The way you create a table is to use the CREATE TABLE command. CREATE TABLE users() So in this situation, the name comes right after the TABLE keyword. The next thing we do is put all of the columns on a line that we want to put in our table. CREATE TABLE users( user_id, username, first_name, last_name ) Notice the naming conventions here. For this series we are going to make columns with what is known as snake casing. This is where each individual word is separated by an underscore. if you have more than one column, all of them have to have commas except the last one. The comma is a way to say that another column is coming, so you don't need to do it on the last one. Now you would think we were done, but we also have to say what data type each column is. Later we will extensively discuss data types so we can focus on them exclusively. For now, here are the data types we are going to use: CREATE TABLE users( user_id NUMBER, username VARCHAR2(50), first_name VARCHAR2(50), last_name VARCHAR2(50) ) Now, inside of the parenthesis for varchar2, we pass in a number... This is the max length of the string. But the question is, what is it measured in? The default is actually in bytes, not characters. For example if we have the string hello, it is 5 characters, but it might take up a total of 10 bytes of storage. So I would recommend adding the keyword char right after the number so it defaults to 50 characters, not bytes. CREATE TABLE users( user_id NUMBER, username VARCHAR(50 CHAR), first_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR), last_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) ) This will work to create a table, but it's really missing a lot of information… which column is the primary key? Are we adding any indexes? Is there any thing else we need to say about these columns? So as you can tell, we are making progress, but there is still so much to learn. The biggest gotcha to remember from this video is that the data type VARCHAR ends in a 2, stupid, right? who would end the name of something with a 2? Oracle Database 11g: Export schema objects

04:14
Export schema objects: The Export and Import utilities provide a simple way for you to transfer data objects between Oracle databases, even if they reside on platforms with different hardware and software configurations. When you run Export against an Oracle database, objects (such as tables) are extracted, followed by their related objects (such as indexes, comments, and grants), if any. The extracted data is written to an export dump file. The Import utility reads the object definitions and table data from the dump file. An export file is an Oracle binary-format dump file that is typically located on disk or tape. The dump files can be transferred using FTP or physically transported (in the case of tape) to a different site. The files can then be used with the Import utility to transfer data between databases that are on systems not connected through a network. The files can also be used as backups in addition to normal backup procedures. Export dump files can only be read by the Oracle Import utility. The version of the Import utility cannot be earlier than the version of the Export utility used to create the dump file. Creating a database, table, and inserting - SQLite3 with Python 3 part 1

10:59
Welcome to an SQLite mini-series! SQLite, as the name suggests, is a lite version of an SQL database. SQLite3 comes as a part of the Python 3 standard library. Databases offer, typically, a superior method of high-volume data input and output over a typical file such as a text file. SQLite is a "light" version that works based on SQL syntax. SQL is a programming language in itself, but is a very popular database language. Many websites use MySQL, for example. SQLite truly shines because it is extremely lightweight. Setting up an SQLite database is nearly instant, there is no server to set up, no users to define, and no permissions to concern yourself with. For this reason, it is often used as a developmental and protyping database, but it can and is used in production. The main issue with SQLite is that it winds up being much like any other flat-file, so high volume input/output, especially with simultaneous queries, can be problematic and slow. You may then ask, what really is the difference between a typical file and sqlite. First, SQLite will let you structure your data as a database, which can easily be queried, so you get that functionality both with adding new content and calling upon it later. Each table would likely need its own file if you were doing plain files, and SQLite is all in one. SQLite is also going to be buffering your data. A flat file will require a full load before you can start querying the full dataset, SQLite files don't work that way. Finally, edits do not require the entire file to be re-saved, it's just that part of the file. This improves performance significantly. Alright great, let's dive into some SQLite. https://pythonprogramming.net/sql-database-python-part-1-inserting-database/ Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQVvvaa0QuDezJh0sC5CqXLKZTSKU1YNo https://pythonprogramming.net https://twitter.com/sentdex https://www.facebook.com/pythonprogramming.net/ https://plus.google.com/+sentdex

Storage Optimization - Reducing the Cost of your Oracle Database Estate (Recorded Webcast Event)

46:56
Information is key to the success of most organisations today and as such the more information you have about your customers the better business decisions you can make. T his means that databases (which hold the information) continue to grow in size and additional storage needs to be purchased on a regular basis to meet this growth. In this webcast we'll look at how Storage Optimization techniques can be used to reduce the Oracle database footprint and avoid the cost of new storage and/or reclaim some of that storage for use by other systems. We'll also take a look at some of the tools available to help you understand the likely benefit you will see from this reduced footprint and how we can work with you to look at the cost justification. A table space is a storage structure, it contains tables, indexes, large objects, and long data. It can be used to organize data in a database into logical storage group which is related with where data stored on a system. This tablespaces are stored in database partition groups. Types of Tablespace: 1.SYSTEM 2.SYSAUX 3.TEMP 4.UNDOTBS1 5.USERS 6.EXAMPLE (optional) Location of Data file: app\Administrator\oradata\orcl Create Tablespace: Command: 1.connect sysdba1.sql- create tablespace test1 datafile ‘E:\app\Administrator\oradata\orcl\dfile1.dbf'size 200m; 2.sql-create tablespace test2 datafile ‘E:\app\Administrator\oradata\orcl\dfile1.dbf‘ size 200m AUTOEXTEND ON ONLINE EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL UNIFORM SIZE 2M; Drop Tablespace: SQL- drop tablespace test1 including contents and datafiles; To Get more Tutorial Subscribe The Channel click here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQ3ea4zVCfnKBx1_7h8raGQ?sub_confirmation=1 To Get All Post Like The Facebook Page Click here https://www.facebook.com/oracledbsolutions Follow us: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/oracledbsolutions Youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQ3ea4zVCfnKBx1_7h8raGQ?view_as=subscriber Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/465557066961548 Contact us: email: [email protected] Skype: oracle26solutions Mob: 01734557080, 01627422780

What is Oracle Exadata Smart Scan (Demonstration)

03:47
How does Oracle Exadata Smart Scan work? What is Smart Scan. How to insure Oracle is offloading work to the Storage Tier? Learn this and more in this demonstration by OC Master John Watson of SkillBuilders. See all 11 lessons in this tutorial at http://skillbuilders.com/exadata-tutorials. John Watson: I want to show you very briefly how offload Smart Scan or flow processing can actually function. I'm working here just in the little demonstration Scott schema. I'll enable auto tracing so that we can see the effect on execution plans, which will also show me whether offload processing is indeed possible. So it's a simple query. I'll use a function here to check that to get offloaded as well as the column selection and the row selection and column projection. We'll have a predicate. Right. So there is the statement. It returned these three scalar values, as you would expect. How was this actually executed? There was a select statement, then it was executed, table access full. That's the only way to run that statement given the index on that table because in the middle of this, we see the key word, "storage." That key word tells me that this statement could indeed be offloaded to the storage tier. Furthermore, we see down here in the predicate information, "storage." That key word again tells me that the row filtering could have been done by the storage tier. So what happened is that the storage tier did not return every block of the empty* table to the database buffer cache, where my session would then have had to extract these values. All it returned to the instance was these three scalar values directly into the PGA of my server process. Now, there's also the initcap function there. Was that offloadable or not? There is a view "Read our SQL fm letter data," and that will tell us for each function whether or not it can be offloaded. So, just select its name, whether it's offloadable. Declare offloadable as yes and put in a sort order as well, and we see that in the current release, there are 393 functions that can be offloaded. Which ones? All the typecasting functions, truncations, trims. These are functions that get executed millions of times an hour in many, many environments. Note here two particularly important ones, balloon filters. The offload capability for balloon filters allows us to offload joins or facts to dimension tables. Those two in star schemas can be offloaded. The function I used was, in fact, initcap. Just for completeness, we'll scroll through all of these and we'll see that initcap itself is an offloadable function, and there it is along with many others. There are two classes of function that cannot be offloaded, and those are the aggregation functions and the analytic functions. I mention them just for completeness. There's an architectural issue there because aggregations and analytics potentially require access to all rows in the table. The row might be distributed across a cell. So it's a technical issue why they can't be offloaded, but virtually, all other functions can be offloaded with terrific drops in CPU usage, and combining that with the reduction of data traffic into the instances will give us vast performance improvements.
