Deep Sea Creatures [National Geographic Documentary 2017 HD]

53:56
Deep Sea Creatures [National Geographic Documentary 2017 HD] The Deep sea creature refers to organisms that live below the photic zone of the ocean. These creatures must survive in extremely harsh conditions, such as hundreds of bars of pressure, small amounts of oxygen, very little food, no sunlight, and constant, extreme cold. Most creatures have to depend on food floating down from above. These creatures live in very demanding environments, such as the abyssal or hadal zones, which, being thousands of meters below the surface, are almost completely devoid of light. The water is between 3 and 10 degrees Celsius and has low oxygen levels. Due to the depth, the pressure is between 20 and 1,000 bars. Creatures that live hundreds or even thousands of meters deep in the ocean have adapted to the high pressure, lack of light, and other factors. The depths of the ocean are festooned with the most nightmarish creatures imaginable. You might think you’re safe, because these critters live thousands of feet down in a cold dark abyss, but the vampire squid, which looks like a nightmare umbrella, and the frilled shark—a literal living fossil—will live on in the recesses of your mind long after you’ve clicked away. Enjoy these deep sea horrors and try to have a relaxing day afterward. ► NOTE : I'm a big fan of National Geographic and I just collect the best parts of National Geographic. I do not make money from National Geographic's Video. Thanks You very much

9 Creepiest Ocean Discoveries

10:27
The creepiest ocean discoveries. These maritime finds are unique & most of these discoveries were made on beaches. Scientists & researchers are still trying to find out about where they came from. Support our Patreon today: https://www.patreon.com/theywillkillyou Subscribe for new videos: http://goo.gl/SaufF4 Follow us on Instagram: @theywillkillyou Voiceover by Carl Mason: [email protected] Number 9 Octopus Nursery Since octopi are known as solitary creatures, researchers were rather stunned when they found about a hundred of them nesting together near Costa Rica. However, another discovery would soon eclipse that one. In 2018, marine biologists deployed a remotely operated vehicle with the goal of studying an underwater volcano called the Davidson Seamount. As they were steering the vehicle at a depth of around 10,000 ft off the coast of California, it stumbled upon a creepy a sight. Between the volcano’s cracks there were numerous female octopi huddled together guarding their eggs. About a thousand Muusoctopus robustus were found in what is believed to be the world’s largest deep sea octopus garden. For those who find a mass of thousands of tentacles moving at the same time creepy, this is definitely a nightmare come true. Number 8 Hole in the Earth On the ocean floor, after tectonic plates separate, a void is left behind. The mantle underneath the plates then rises up and melts to fill that void. However, there’s a gap in the Earth that hasn’t repaired itself and scientists aren’t sure how it happened. The hole is located between Cape Verde islands and the Caribbean, about 3 miles below the surface. It’s an area where the sea floor is normally about 4.5 miles thick, but, upon examining the site, researchers found there was a lot of missing crust. In fact, an area of several thousand miles didn’t exhibit the typical signs of the plate repairing itself. Number 7 Ancoracysta twista Found on the surface of a tropical brain coral in 2017, this microorganism is largely still a mystery. There is some indication that Ancoracysta twista might belong to an early lineage of eukaryotic organisms. These are organisms with genetic material packed in a membrane-bound nucleus. However, so far, it seems this predatory microorganism isn’t closely related to anything in the animal kingdom. Ancoracysta twista is considered to be a protist, meaning that it isn’t plant, fungus or animal and doesn’t belong to any clade. Protists are often grouped with eukaryotes for convenience. Number 6 Disappearance of the Atlantic Ocean Even though there’s no cause for concern in the near future, researchers have recently discovered that one day the Atlantic Ocean might disappear entirely. This is due to a subduction zone 120 miles off the coast of Portugal. Subduction zones happen as a result of plates constantly pushing against each other, which usually results in lighter plates melting back into the mantle. Number 5 Zones Zones are exactly as terrifying as they sound. Nitrogen and phosphorus are among the most common nutrients and their presence can create algal blooms, which are an increase in density of certain types of algae. The oxygen-deprived habitat can have as little as only two oxygen particles for every one million particles. Number 4 Sea Sponge Chondrocladia lyra, also known as the harp sponge, was discovered in 2012, off the Coast of California at a depth of around 10,000 feet. The interesting thing about this sea sponge is the way it obtains its nutrients. Number 3 Creepy Glass Garden While a submersible was investigating the Marian Trough, in 2015, it discovered what so far is the deepest volcano on Earth. At 14,700 feet below the surface, they found a sight unlike they expected. Intertwined blackened lava tendrils had formed something that scientists described as a ‘garden of glass straight out of a nightmare’. The twist and turns covered a trench that was about 4.5 miles long. Number 2 White Shark Café Those who were terrified by the movie ‘Jaws’, might want to steer clear of this area. There’s a place in the Pacific Ocean, at the midpoint between Hawaii and the coast of California, known as the ‘White Shark Café’. Number 1 Giant Eyeball The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Committee had to deal with a mysterious find in October, 2012. Local man, Gino Covacci, found a giant eyeball that washed up on Pompano Beach. Covacci decided to take it home where he put it in the freezer. Afterwards, Covacci notified the local police, who referred it to the appropriate authorities. A little larger than a softball, the eyeball looked like it belonged to a massive marine creature.

There have only been two manned descents to the very bottom nearly 7 miles deep of pure darkness. Not only is it a fascinating place and wonder of the planet, but it's also shrouded in mystery. Since so few have been down there, and only a hand full of cameras have recorded the bottom, what creatures live at the bottom is one of life's mysterious. 10 Animals That Were Recently Discovered

12:03
► Subscribe: https://goo.gl/vHN6qB For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] The animal kingdom is diverse and fascinating, and there are many different versions of the same species all over the planet. In some areas, such as the deepest reaches of the Amazon Rainforest, we know very little about all the creatures that exist there. And while us humans tend to think of ourselves as the masters of our world, it cannot be denied that there are many weird and wonderful things on Planet Earth of which we are simply unaware. That’s why everyone becomes so excited when we discover a new plant or animal species. Recently scientists have discovered new species of wasp, shark, ape, and even new animals descended from Dinosaurs! With that in mind, here are 10 amazing animals that have only been discovered in recent years. Squalus Clarkae Also known as the “Genie’s Dogfish,” this tiny member of the shark family, specifically the dogfish shark, grows just 20 to 28 inches long. Found in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, this dainty predator has huge, anime-like eyes which are perfect for seeing in the deep, dark waters. Calistoga Crassicaudata Despite being just 9.8 millimeters long, this species of parasitic wasp is native to the Amazon, and is one of the most nightmarish creatures on this list. Its stinger is about half the length of its tiny body and is also an “ovipositor.” This means that that stinger also deposits eggs, along with a paralytic toxin into the wound it creates. Caelestiventus Hanseni This entry has been, thankfully, discovered post extinction. If you think we’re cruel for saying this, just wait until you hear about C.Hanseni! C. Hanseni was, in fact, a breed of Giant Pterosaur which sported no less than 110 teeth and 4 seriously wicked fangs. The scientists responsible for discovering it estimate that it may have had a wingspan of around 4.9 feet and fangs 2.5 centimeters in length. Mansourasaurus shahinae The second ancient discovery on our list is less carnivorous, but no less terrifying for its vegetarian nature. The Mansourasaurus was found in Egypt by archeologists in late 2017. This sauropod was long-necked, long-tailed, and the size of a modern-day bus! What makes this discovery so exciting? Dendrocerus Scutellaris Another member of the wasp family which has been discovered in recent years, D.Scutellaris is also a parasitic wasp that seems to have cut its way straight from a scary movie. Like it’s cousin C.Crassicaudata, this wasp lays eggs inside of a host. The larvae then hatch and, well you get the rest. Despite this, D.Scutellaris lacks the strong, pointy jaws that most endoparasitoid wasps use to chew their way free. Tardigrades Lovers of weird and wonderful animals will already know about the famously sturdy Tardigrade or as its sometimes called “water bear”. This tiny microscopic creature can survive in extreme cold down to negative -328 degrees Fahrenheit and extreme heat up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. In fact, they can even survive in the intense radiation and crushing vacuum of space! Talk about a super-creature, right? Shastasaurid The creatures of the world’s oceans remain more mysterious than even the surface of the moon; deep dwelling animals are still being discovered, today, and so it is little surprise that we are still becoming aware of now extinct species. Junzi Imperialis The burials of ancient Chinese royals were very often flamboyant and outlandish affairs which displayed the wealth and importance of the person through the goods they were buried with. Even still, archaeologists were surprised to find the remains of an extinct and ancient member of the Gibbon family within the burial menagerie of the grandmother of China’s first Emperor. The Bryant Shark Thanks to recent movies and media, the public is more aware of ancient sea life than ever before. Jurassic World, and The Meg have brought huge, sea-dwelling dinos into the public eye. But while we know about the infamous Megalodon, the largest shark to ever exist, few are aware of the ongoing search for one of its ancestors Orthrozanclus Elongata With an armored back and spikes lining its sides, this 515-million-year-old critter would probably give most people a nasty scare if they were to see it in person. The cocktail-stick-like spikes on its back were longer than the creature was wide and extended like sunbursts. Discoverer Dr. Martin Smith remarks that this would have made them look rather like a cuddly cactus. We hope you enjoyed this video! Let us know which one of these animals was your favorite. And if you liked the video, like, share, subscribe and turn on notifications so you will be the first to know when we release a new video. Thank you for watching!

12 Sea Creatures You Never Knew Existed

Sea creatures you never knew existed. These animals lived in the deepest parts of the ocean & you should be glad that these fish are extinct. Support our Patreon today: https://www.patreon.com/theywillkillyou Subscribe for new videos: http://goo.gl/SaufF4 Follow us on Instagram: @theywillkillyou Voiceover by Carl Mason: [email protected] 12 The Dumbo octopus The Dumbo octopus is a species of octopi that resembles the title character of the Disney film. It has prominent ear-like fins making it look like a baby elephant’s head. The Dumbo octopus lives at depths of over 13,000 feet below sea level. They grow to almost 6ft in length and weigh up to 13 pounds. 11 Ocean Sunfish The ocean sunfish is the heaviest bony fish in the world, weighing between 545 and 2,205 pounds. Living on a diet of sea jellies and small fish, which it has to consume in very large quantities because of their poor nutritional value. 10 Humpback Anglerfish The humpback anglerfish, also known as the humpback black devil, lives at depths ranging from 800 to 13,000 feet below the ocean’s surface. They have black soft bodies and large heads, widened mouths and long pointed teeth. Females are capable of eating prey even larger than themselves. 9 Amphipoda Amphipoda is an order of crustaceans that range in size from 0.03 inches to 13.4 inches. Their bodies are laterally compressed and have no carapace. The most interesting thing about amphipods is their feeding behavior. There are more than 9.900 species, and some are flesh-eating scavengers. Amphipods have two front pairs of legs with large claws. 8 Sarcastic Fringehead The sarcastic fringehead is a small fish with a large Predator-like mouth and aggressive territorial behavior. It can only grow up to 12 inches long and lives in the Pacific, off the coast of North America, from San Francisco, California to central Baja California. 7 Pelican eel The Pelican eel, also known as the gulper eel, has a very large mouth which it can open wide enough to swallow bigger fish. Gulper eels live at extreme depths from 1,600 to almost 10,000 ft. 6 Pacific Viperfish The Pacific viperfish lives in the abyssal depths of the deep sea and is easily recognized by its large open mouth. It’s a predatory fish that can reach lengths of 1 foot and it has an iridescent dark silver body. Pacific viperfish cannot close their mouths due to their very large fang-like teeth which they use to trap their prey with. They also have a light or gone located at the end of their dorsal fin rays. 5 Abyssal ghostsharks Pointy-nosed blue chimaeras or more commonly known as abyssal ghostsharks are sea creatures that live in temperate ocean floors down to 6,500 feet deep. They are believed to be some of the oldest fish in existence, as they branched off from sharks nearly 400 million years ago. 4 Stargazer Fish Stargazers are a family of fish that camouflage themselves in the sand on the ocean floor and attack when a fish swims by. Their eyes are mounted on the top of their heads and they have upward facing mouths. Stargazers have two large venomous spines located above their pectoral fins and some species can also cause electric shock. Their way of attacking other fish combined with their ability to cause electric shock and the fact that they also have venomous spines, have caused some to refer to stargazers as “the meanest things in creation”. 3 Immortal Jellyfish The immortal jellyfish is a species of biologically undying jellyfish. It’s found in the Mediterranean Sea and the waters of Japan and has no maximum lifespan. It begins life as a larva and settles down to the sea floor, where it gives rise to a colony of polyps. Each polyp and jellyfish arising from a single larva is a genetically identical clone. The polyps morph into an extensively branched form. Jellyfish then bud off the polyps and continue their life in a free-swimming form. 2 Water Bears Water bears are micro-animals that resemble bears and are believed to be the toughest and most resilient animals on the planet. They can survive incredibly harsh conditions such as exposure to extreme temperatures or pressures, radiation, air deprivation, dehydration and even starvation. They can go without food or water for more than 30 years. Their barrel-shaped bodies usually only grow up to 0.02 inches long and have four pairs of legs, each with four to eight claws. 1 Sea Spiders The sea spider is not really an arachnid, but a marine arthropod. It got the name from its eerie resemblance to a spider. It has eight long legs and a small body. Most species of sea spiders are so small that each of their muscles consists of only one cell. They’re most common in shallow waters where they’re usually found walking along the bottom.

Most SPOOKY Sea Creatures In The World!

Northern Stargazer Astroscopus guttatus is a strange-looking fish that’s known more commonly as the Northern Stargazer. In paradoxical contrast to its romantic-sounding name, the Northern Stargazer is, for lack of a better term, unattractive, if not downright homely. It dwells at the bottom of the Chesapeake Bay and along the eastern seaboard of the United States, from North Carolina to New York, in waters up to 120 feet deep. So if you live around here, keep an eye out! 6. Giant Squid Until 2006, the existence of the giant squid was considered to be barely more realistic than that of the Yeti, the Loch Ness Monster, Sasquatch, and dozens of other creatures that were rumored to exist, but remained largely relegated to mythological status. The only thing that placed the giant squid a notch or two above the rest of those creatures were the scars left on whales and the discovery of their carcasses by fishermen after having floated to the water’s surface. 5. Black Dragonfish The black dragonfish is a deep-sea dweller that resides about 2,000 meters below the ocean’s surface. The amazing thing about this guy is that is represents one of the most extreme cases of sexual dimorphism, which refers to a distinct difference between the sexes in size or appearance that exceeds the fundamental difference between sexual organs. 4. Deep Sea Anglerfish Like the black dragonfish, male deep sea anglerfish are smaller than females. In this case, some male species of anglerfish are parasitic, and subsist by attaching themselves to the body of a female. While they may not have a gut, they do have teeth! 3. Goblin Shark The goblin shark is a rare species of deep-sea shark. It’s the only surviving relative of a 125-million-year-old lineage known as the family Mitsukurinidae. Because of this, the goblin shark has earned the nickname “living fossil.” The goblin shark’s distinctive appearance is creepy to begin with: it’s pink-skinned with an elongated, flattened snout that resembles a sword blade. 2. Blobfish Our next spooky sea creature is, quite possibly, the world’s ugliest animal. I don’t know, between this and the deep sea angler fish, which one do you think?? Let me know in the comments below!! It goes through life doing exactly what you’d probably expect a blob to do - not much. In the deep waters off the coasts of Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand that it calls home, the blobfish survives essentially by drifting around on the ocean floor at great depths and eating whatever appears in front of it, namely deepwater crustaceans. 1. Frilled Shark At first glance, the frilled shark looks like something you might see in a science fiction movie - perhaps, for example, an unlikely hybrid between an eel and a shark. The frilled shark however, is real. Like the goblin shark, it’s often referred to as a “living fossil,” a nickname that alludes to the minimal change the species has undergone since prehistoric times. 10 Biggest Sea Creatures Ever Caught

You won't believe that fishermen actually caught these gigantic sea monsters! Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg SyFy recently aired the third film in their so-bad-its-good “Sharknado” series, prompting some to wonder if airborne, tornado-based sharks could actually be real. Okay, so no one is really wondering that. Still, though, the ocean continues to represent a great unknown to us, providing home to countless species, many of which remain a mystery to humanity. The more we learn about what lurks deep below the surface, the more we realize still remains uncovered. With two-thirds of the Earth’s surface covered in water, it stands to reason that a great deal of that space remains unexplored. Of course, just because humankind hasn’t covered every iota of ground along the ocean floor, it doesn’t mean that those areas are uninhabited. All we know for sure is that the truly deepest depths of the world’s oceans continue to offer surprises, even as scientific technology becomes increasingly advanced. New species unlike any others known before are routinely discovered, with entirely new and alien biomes in extreme environments that no life had even been thought possible have challenged our very notions of what life is and how it has evolved. Amidst the cold darkness of a low-lying ocean area with depths that no sunlight can penetrate lies an alien world of incredibly rare and mysterious species. While many are simple, harmless omnivores, they share the ocean floor with some pretty unsettling forces. These ocean-based creatures – those that we know about, anyway – change everything we think we know about fish. Each one has at least one predominant feature that stands out as being unlike anything seen before. Think you know sharks? Well, how about one with a saw-like nose or a frilly, eel-like body. Think you’ve seen some big fish? How about a 17-metre long swimmer or a 900-pound squid or even a 5,000-pound behemoth sunfish? Lurking within the ocean are a number of deadly, threatening, vicious creatures that are naturally designed and programmed to hunt and stalk their prey. Thankfully, most of these monsters live at pressures that humans could never survive at – not that they would survive long down there, anyway. In recent years, Hollywood has sparked a fascination with zombies, aliens and other forces that exist beyond the realms of our planet and that are not steeped in reality. Despite that, some of the strangest and most terrifying creatures in the universe lie beneath the surface of bodies of water with which we are, at least partially, familiar. As we sit on a beach staring out at the natural beauty of the Pacific Ocean, we remain blissfully oblivious to all that lurks within. This list seeks to open the door to an entire world of deep sea activity, featuring a cast of creepy and spooky characters that few even know exist. These 10 fish, some of whom may seem to be borne out of your darkest nightmares, are all very real and may give you second thoughts the next time you foray into the ocean. And these are just the ones we know about… Check out these other awesome videos! 10 Shockingly Large Creatures That Actually Exist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9odlL5Ti3dc 10 Things That Will Happen When Humans Go Extinct https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ml_awEqbEE Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheRichest.org Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheRichest_Com Instagram: http://instagram.com/therichest For more videos and articles visit: http://www.therichest.com/

10 MOST DANGEROUS OCEAN CREATURES IN THE WORLD

10 Most Dangerous Water Animals In The World ► Subscribe: https://goo.gl/vHN6qB For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] There are many different types of creatures that live in streams, lakes, seas and oceans. And while many of these creatures are harmless, there are many that are incredibly dangerous if you happen to have an encounter with them. These dangerous animals lurk beneath the surface of the water in a world vastly different than ours, and must be deadly to survive. Join us as we take a look at 10 of the most dangerous water creatures. 10. Australian Box Jellyfish – This creature is not one to be messed around with if you happen to swim into a swarm of them. And while they may seem harmless, the Australian box jellyfish is considered to be the most venomous marine animal in the world. They have tentacles that are covered with tiny darts called nematocysts, and they are loaded with poison. 9. Flower Urchin – Beautiful but deadly, these sea urchins are extremely venomous. They look like a bouquet of small flowers; to which they get their name from. They feed on invertebrates, sponges, and dead fish, and have well developed jaws for grinding up their prey. 8. The Saltwater Crocodile – Evolving around 200 million years in the Mesozoic epoch, crocodiles have far outlived the dinosaurs. The Salt water crocodile is the world’s largest reptile, and they have been known to grow up to 27 feet long and weigh 2,465 lbs. 7. Textile Cone Snail – Mother nature teaches us that anything in nature that is beautiful, is most likely deadly, and a warning to predators and humans to not touch or disturb them. This holds true for the Textile Cone Snail. 6. The Sea Snake – These highly venomous marine snakes are closely related and belong to the same family as the cobra. There are two independently evolved groups: the true sea snakes which are related to Australian terrestrial elapids, and the sea kraits which are related to Asian cobras. 5. The Lionfish – Lionfish are skilled hunters, using specialized bilateral swim bladder muscles to provide exquisite control of location in the water column, allowing the fish to alter its center of gravity to better attack prey. The lionfish then spreads its large pectoral fins and swallows its prey in a single motion. 4. The Stingray – Stingrays are a group of rays, which are cartilaginous fish related to sharks, and are one of the oceans deadliest creatures. Most stingrays have one or more barbed stingers on their tails, which are used exclusively for self-defense. 3. Blue-Ringed Octopus – This octopus has some of the most striking colors of any ocean creature. They get their name from the brightly blue colored rings on its body. 2. Needlefish – These strange looking creatures are very slender, and have a single dorsal fin, placed far back on the body. Needlefish are capable of making short jumps out of the water at up to 37 mph. Since Needlefish swim near the surface, they often leap over the decks of shallow boats rather than going around. 1. The Moray Eel - Most attacks stem from disruption of a moray's burrow to which they react strongly, but an increasing number of accidents also occur during hand feeding of morays by divers, an activity often used by dive companies to attract tourists.

Mariana Trench Creatures That Are Scarier Than Megalodon

11:21
What’s scarier than the prehistoric Megalodon that used to live in the Mariana Trench? The sharp-toothed, creepy-looking creatures that currently live there! While much of the Mariana Trench hasn’t been explored yet, what scientists have found so far is absolutely terrifying. Have you ever heard about the Zombie Worm or the Goblin Shark? Do you know that there is an octopus that swallows his prey whole? Or maybe you know anything about a fish with a transparent head? Watch to learn more about the creepy creatures that lie in the world’s deepest waters. But be warned: You may never want to swim in the ocean again. Other videos you might like: What If Megalodon Sharks Didn't Go Extinct? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xh6pVbaEJTw& Why No Aquarium In the World Has a Great White Shark? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4lOjZvtVO8& 4 Tips on How to Stay Safe at Sea https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvfkv_7v99k& TIMESTAMPS: The Fangtooth 0:45 The Dumbo Octopus 2:15 The Barreleye Fish 3:06 The Seadevil Anglerfish 3:58 The Goblin Shark 4:52 The Deep-Sea Hatchetfish 5:48 The Zombie Worm 6:32 The Deep-Sea Dragonfish 7:13 The Frilled Shark 8:08 Liopleurodon 9:07 Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - The Fangtooth is carnivorous and feeds on just about anything it can find that gets caught in its sharp-toothed mouth. These fish rely on their “contact chemoreception” to find prey. - The Dumbo Octopus is the deepest living octopus scientists know of, according to oceana.org. They are known as “umbrella octopuses” since their arms are connected by webbed skin. When they spread them apart, they look like an umbrella…a slimy, hungry, deep-sea umbrella. - You can see through the Barreleye Fish’s head! Some scientists believe that this transparent head lets the fish collect a bit more light in the dark depths of the sea, which gives them an advantage over other fish that hunt blindly. - The Seadevil Anglerfish has a fishing-rod type appendage on its forehead that has a glowing light attached to the end to attract animals. Once these animals come close enough to the light — BAM! They’re captured by the Seadevil’s massive jaws. - The Goblin Shark looks like a cross between a shark and a creature from your worst nightmare. These sharks boast a protruding sword-like snout with a jaw that juts out to match. Unlike other sharks that have more of a gray hue, this creepy thing looks not-so-pretty in pink. - There are over 40 species of hatchetfish that sport thin bodies covered in shiny scales. That’s why they often look metallic. These fish only grow to be around 6”, but they’re able to handle the pressure of the deep sea, living 5,000 ft below the surface! - Not quite. The Zombie Worm isn’t an undead creature of the deep sea; it is very much alive. It’s also known as the Bone Worm, and it can swallow bones of massive mammals like whales. - Along with some other creatures on this list, the Deep-Sea Dragonfish relies on its bioluminescent body parts to catch prey. It also uses its hanging appendage, which boasts a little red light on the end, coming out from its lower jaw. - Studying the Frilled Shark is like looking through a portal back to prehistoric times. That’s because scientists think that these eel-like sharks haven’t changed much since their oldest ancestors roamed the deep-sea waters, so they’re sometimes referred to as “living fossils.” - Scientists believe Liopleurodon thrived in this deep-sea trench because of its ability to swim long distances and its 4 paddle-like limbs. While they probably weren’t able to propel themselves toward prey like other animals of the area, they did manage to accelerate and attack very ruthlessly and efficiently. Who Lives In the Deepest Place On Earth?

09:57
Who lives at the bottom of the Mariana trench? Scientists have finally revealed the Mariana Trench mystery. Take a look at the deepest creature ever caught there! The curiosity of human nature makes people look for secrets and mysteries far away from home, like in outer space or on other planets. Scientists have mapped only 5 percent of our planet’s seafloor. And if you’ve ever considered the ocean plain and boring, the video you’re about to watch will blow your mind. TIMESTAMPS The Mariana Trench is the deepest area 0:45 The deepest-living fish in the world 2:40 “Ethereal snailfish” 3:12 A mysterious metallic sound 3:38 Deep sea cucumber 5:50 The deep sea anglerfish 6:20 The barreleye fish 7:13 The Champagne Vent 8:05 The 4-inch amoeba 8:35 SUMMARY The Mariana Trench is the deepest area you can find on Earth. Although almost everybody has heard the name, we have shockingly little data about this dark underwater place in the western Pacific Ocean. It’s a monumental task mapping the seafloor and taking pictures when the water pressure at the bottom is more than 1,000 times greater than that at the surface! Deep Sea Starfish There are more than 2,000 known species of sea star, ranging from those that you find in rock pools to those that you’d see on a coral reef- but amongst the most bizarre ones that have been found are those that live deep below the waves. 9. Glass Finger This strange species of sea sponge that lives in deep waters are called Glass Fingers. Apart from looking like glass, their name actually comes from the way that their skeletons are formed. 8. Deep Sea Spider If you’re not too fond of spiders around your home, then these next creatures will show you how lucky you are to live on land! Spiders of epic proportions do live among us and grow to huge sizes of the coast of Antarctica. 7. Acorn Worm Acorn worms can live anywhere from the shoreline to over 3000 meters (10,000 ft) deep. They are very unusual creatures. There are actually only less than 100 known species of Acorn worm, and most varieties grow up to 1.5 feet long. 6. Barreleye Fish If you didn’t know any better, you might think this fish was some kind of aquatic robot used to spy on submarines during the cold war! The Pacific barreleye fish is an extraordinary creature that lives deep in the ocean’s waters. 5. Giant Isopod The Giant Isopod is another creepy creature that lives at the bottom of the sea. Related to pillbugs, it’s not actually a bug. It’s a carnivorous crustacean that crawls around the deep sea floor looking for food- from the remains of creatures that have fallen to the depths, or slow moving, living creatures like sea cucumbers and sponges, that it’s able to catch up to. 4. Dragon Fish The deep sea dragonfish, also called the Barbeled Dragonfish, is a family of fish that are found in the deepest parts of the ocean around the world. In all, there are nearly 300 different known species, each of which have their own unique characteristics. 3. Mariana Snailfish The ability for scientists to explore the deepest parts of the ocean has improved significantly in recent decades, which has led to a number of unmanned research missions to the deepest known place on Earth! 2. Sleeper Sharks Sleeper sharks are very rarely seen by ocean researchers. They are known to live in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and grow to up to 23 feet (7 meters) long and weigh up to 1,958 pounds (888 kg). A discovery in 2016 completely changed the way these creatures are understood. 1. Devil Worm All of the other animals on this list live in the ocean, since they provide much more habitable environments than are available underground, and far more research has been done in the water because it’s easier to access. This final one, though is the exception. AMAZING Recently Discovered Species

09:20
You’d think by now we’ve done a pretty good job at cataloguing all of the species in the world, but we’re far from done! Scientists believe there are around 8.7 million species in the world, with between 1 and 2 million of those being animals. And it’s thought the vast majority have not even been documented yet. 2017 saw a number of fascinating new discoveries, and we’ll touch on some of them today. Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 10 - Not for human consumption… Don’t let the name Churro mislead you, there is nothing tasty about this new marine worm that was discovered in the Gulf of California in 2017. They’ve called it Churro because of the striking resemblance to a Churro, the delicious fried-dough pastry dessert that is dipped into sweet sauces. This worm is between 4 and 10 inches and feeds off molluscs like clams. 9 - Feeling Blue... I would be too if faced with this bright blue tarantula that was discovered in Guyana. It doesn’t even have a name yet, that’s how new it is! It was spotted by Andrew Snyder, who says his flashlight bounced off something very blue, which he thought was just a reflection. When he went closer, he was really surprised to see the bright blue legs of the spider. Firstly, this is the first blue tarantula found in South America, as they’re usually found in Southeast Asia, and secondly, this one was living in a colony, which is very unusual for spiders. 8 - 5 a day… If you’re brave, you can add this bizarre fruit to yours! It’s the obscure relative of the tomato, and it was discovered in Australia. This fruit has been known to botanists for 50 years already, but it was only described officially in 2017. 7th graders helped name this weird fruit the deathly fruit, and when cut open, the flesh of the fruit changes from whitish green to blood red and then matures into a dry, white bony state. The fruit looks very unappetising, and I doubt it’s going to be flying off the shelves anytime soon! 7 - Blooming marvellous… A new species of orchid was found last year, called the devil orchid aka Telipogon diabolicus. This orchid is a fusion of male and female flower parts and as you can see, looks a lot like the head of the devil! This plant is only found in a certain area of Columbia, which is currently threatened by reconstruction. 6 - Now you see me… Now you don’t! You’re aware of how lizards drop their tails in order to escape a predator, but this newly discovered gecko takes things a little further. This creature is covered with overlapping scales, and when it’s in trouble, has the ability to shed those scales and make a quick, naked getaway. Within a few weeks, those scales have grown back and the gecko is ready for action once again. 5 - Down Under… We head down 13,000 feet below the surface of the Pacific Ocean to meet a new species of sponge that was confirmed in 2017. Plenaster craigi have been found in 2013 and 2015, and it was just last year that it was confirmed as an official new species. It was discovered in the Clarion-Clipperton Zone, and live on metal-rich nodules that are common in that area. 4 - Look familiar? Pictured here is the Arcella gandalfi, and if you’ve watched Lord of the Rings, you’ll know why it got that name. These freshwater amoebas were rumoured to exist in Brazil, but they’ve only recently been discovered and confirmed to be real. Considering they’re a single cell organism, these amoeba’s are quite big, measuring 81 micrometers in diameter and 71 micrometers in height. 3 - Pretty in Pink… This is the Pink Floyd pistol shrimp, a new species of snapping shrimp found in the waters off the Pacific coast of Panama. Pink Floyd happened to be one of the favourite bands of the scientists who discovered it. As if the neon pink claw wasn’t strange enough, this crazy shrimp can kill its prey with noise! The snap of that giant claw is loud and powerful that it creates cavitation bubbles, which then burst into the prey, either stunning them or killing them. The sound reaches levels of 210 decibels, which is louder than a gunshot! 2 - No lazing around… An ancient giant sloth fossil was also found in 2017, hidden in an underwater cave in the jungle of the Yucatán in Mexico. This area is not known for many fossil finds, because the humid environment tends to destroy any traces of bones. Vicente Fito went diving in a limestone cave in 2009 where he made this remarkable discovery. He gave the bones to the National Institute of Anthropology and History in Mexico, where they’ve spent all this time piecing everything together. This new species of sloth is thought to weigh around 500-pounds! Apparently the oldest sloth fossil ever found is roughly 9 million years old, and was found in Argentina. 1...

What Lives At The BOTTOM Of The Mariana Trench?

11:15
Do you ever wonder what lives at the bottom of the mariana trench? This top 10 list of creepy deep sea monsters has some giant and bizarre creatures that are scary and mysterious! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "MYSTERIOUS Creatures Living At The BOTTOM Of The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/Efhjc-Gu508 Watch our "SECRETS Casinos DON'T Want You To Find Out!" video here: https://youtu.be/hAoABuvzOZM Watch our "RAREST And Most EXPENSIVE Cars In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/MtCnWSqqilg 10. Frilled Shark The frilled shark has been around a long, LONG time. They’re ‘living fossils’, thought to have been swimming around for anywhere between 95 and 300 million years! Also while they were first discovered in approx 1880 they weren’t actually described until 2004 (the same ROV mission as the barreleye fish). This is one predator that really knows how to keep its head down. It lives at a depth of over 5,000 ft (1524 m). 9. Hatchet Fish Okay so if you came face to face with this dude you’d get one hell of a shock right? Meet the deep sea hatchet fish, so called because of its metallic, hatchet-shaped appearance. It can be found 5,000 ft (1,524 m) down. The metal like quality comes from its scales which is just as well because if it weren’t so shiny you’d have trouble seeing it! 8. Seadevil Anglerfish You’ve probably seen this one in the movies. A seadevil anglerfish appeared in Finding Nemo and the image has been used in some high profile shows like The Simpsons. They were first described in 1864 and can live at a depth of over 6,000 feet (1900 m). Like many deep sea species its movements are mysterious to experts and the only one filmed alive was in 2014. 7. Telescope Octopus Some deep sea animals like to take it easy, I mean there’s a lot of pressure down there!! Maybe none more so than the telescope octopus. Living anywhere from 500 - 6,500 ft (150 - 2000 m) below the surface it’s really laid back. In fact that’s literally what it does… lie back and use its eyes to look up for any food swimming by. 6. Benthocodon Usually when you think of a jellyfish you think of a transparent wobbly thing that stings your foot. Well not this one. The benthocodon isn’t transparent. It has a round, red top which is 2 - 3 cm in diameter and it won’t sting you unless you run into it 2,500 ft (762 m) below the surface. You’d have to be pretty crazy to be at that depth and even crazier without any flippers! 5. Barreleye Fish This fish with a transparent head shocked viewers when it appeared on Blue Planet! Also known as a “spookfish” it has a jelly-like forehead that allows it to look up through its skull, giving it greater visibility! Pretty freaky huh? It is a very efficient hunter that can live at a depth of at least 2,600 feet (800 m) and can be anywhere from 15 to 40 cm long. 4. Goblin Shark This shark is one ugly shark, hence why we call it the goblin shark! Of course I wouldn’t say that to its face poor thing! But its sword-like snout and prehistoric appearance makes it truly unique. 3. Zombie Worm Zombie worms, also known as bone-eating worms, were discovered by accident in 2002 when they appeared to be drilling into the skeletons of dead animals like whales and fish. This confused experts because they looked too squishy to be able to drill like that, but that is how they got their name. The answer came later on in 2012. 2. Foraminifera Foraminifera or ‘fora’ are tiny organisms from the ‘protist’ family. They vary between 100 micrometers and around 20 cm. Because many of them are so small and I’m guessing chewy, they are a prime source of food in the Mariana Trench. That’s a shame because there’s a lot more to these little things than meets the eye. 1. Ping Pong Tree Sponge The strangest name on our list is also the nastiest! Sure, Ping Pong Tree Sponge sounds like something out of Spongebob Squarepants and it’s one beautiful-looking life form. But despite this charming exterior this isn’t a thing to be messed with! It lives nearly 9000 ft (2743 m) underwater and if you’re a small creature it spells bad news. Deepest Part of The Oceans - Full Documentary HD

Measuring the Greatest Ocean Depth The Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench is the deepest known point in Earth's oceans. In 2010 the United States Center for Coastal & Ocean Mapping measured the depth of the Challenger Deep at 10,994 meters (36,070 feet) below sea level with an estimated vertical accuracy of ± 40 meters. If Mount Everest, the highest mountain on Earth, were placed at this location it would be covered by over one mile of water. The first depth measurements in the Mariana Trench were made by the British survey ship HMS Challenger, which was used by the Royal Navy in 1875 to conduct research in the trench. The greatest depth that they recorded at that time was 8,184 meters (26,850 feet). In 1951, another Royal Navy vessel, also named the "HMS Challenger," returned to the area for additional measurements. They discovered an even deeper location with a depth of 10,900 meters (35,760 feet) determined by echo sounding. The Challenger Deep was named after the Royal Navy vessel that made these measurements. In 2009, sonar mapping done by researchers aboard the RV Kilo Moana, operated by the University of Hawaii, determined the depth to be 10,971 meters (35,994 feet) with a potential error of ± 22 meters. The most recent measurement, done in 2010, is the 10,994 meter ( ± 40 meter accuracy) depth reported at the top of this article, measured by the United States Center for Coastal & Ocean Mapping.

5 Unexplained & Mysterious Deep Sea Creatures Caught On Camera 2016 Transcript: There is no doubt our oceans contain many mysteries and creatures that go beyond our imagination. Really. Just imagine how many deep sea creatures we havent found that would simply blow our mind if we ever caught them on camera... But today you are lucky because here are 5 Unexplained & Mysterious Deep Sea Creatures Caught On Camera! Prepare because here.... we begin... 1. The Corfu Island Creature A Scottish tourist named Harvey Robertson had the shock of his life as he found the image of a mysterious creature in his vacation’s pictures. Harvey was on a cruise with his family in Corfu when he took a series of photographs from the inside of a cave. But what he didnt notice was the monster he captured in a cave around the island of Corfu that has a snout and unusual eyes with very uncommon characteristics. Up to this day, biologists are still examining this mysterious sea creature but havent found one clue to what it can be. Although people are starting to think that this could be an animal from the Greek mythology. Interesting..... 2. Giant Pyrosome Divers in Australia have captured rare images of the Pyrostremma , or pyrosome sea creature off the coast of Tasmania. It is so rare that it has been dubbed as the 'Unicorn of the Sea' and can grow up to 30 metres long - the equivalent of two double-decker buses laid end-to-end. Its hollow, translucent, cylindrical body is made up of thousands of tiny clones called zooids that pull water through its tubes and feed on plankton before pushing the filtered water back out. (Say this while video is also playing) 3. The Flying Spaghetti Monster This unusual marine animal you are about to see was recently caught on camera near the coast of Angola.A team from BP was carrying out routine operations near an oil well, using a remotely operated underwater vehicle at a depth of 1325 metres, when they spotted the creature, which they nicknamed the flying spaghetti monster. Intrigued, they sent footage of it to Daniel Jones from the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, UK. Here is the footage of the mysterious deep sea creature. 4. The Mysterious Jellyfish The video you are about to see shows a very strange deep sea creature that was unexpectedly floating into view on an oil ridge camera. The mysterious sea creature was spotted 5 thousand feet deep in the gulf of New Mexico 2 years ago but was just identified by a marine biologist. After so much research, The biologist then found out that this strange creature you are about to see is actually a giant deep sea jellyfish.Take a look at the footage... 5. The Mysterious Giant Squid Squids are not known to spend time at the surface and usually live deep underwater which are most commonly being discovered when they die and wash up on the beaches. In the video you are about to see, a the massive squid comes close to the submerged camera as a crowd of spectators marvel in complete awe. Could the legendary Giant squid squid actually exist? Who knows, but here is the footage. BG Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b73t9SLss8k VIDEO LINKS: 1. The Corfu Island Creature 2. Giant Pyrosome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EQGA_4BZ5s 3. In this video, we will explore the top 10 mythical sea creatures. Number 10. Cthulhu. Cthulhu is an undersea monster and has been described as a mix between a giant octopus, a man and a dragon... It is hundreds of meters tall, with human-looking arms and legs and a pair of wings on its back. Cthulhu's head looks like an octopus, with tentacles surrounding its supposed mouth... H. P. Lovecraft's story, "The Call of Cthulhu", established the character as a malevolent entity hibernating within an underwater city in the South Pacific called R'lyeh... Games company TSR included an entire chapter on the Cthulhu mythos in Deities & Demigods (1980)… Number 9. Leviathan. The Leviathan of the Middle Ages was used as an image of Satan, attempting to eat God’s creatures... Leviathan became associated with, and may originally have referred to, the visual motif of the Hellmouth, a monstrous animal into whose mouth the damned disappear at the Last Judgement... Young Earth Creationists argue that both the Leviathan and the Behemoth in the Bible could only have been dinosaurs that they claim still existed when the Book of Job was written... In the study of demonology, the Leviathan is one of the seven princes of Hell and its gatekeeper.

From the 9-ft spider crab to the 60-ft prehistoric Megalodon, these sea dwellers come in all shapes and sizes! Have you ever heard about lion’s mane jellyfish? This invertebrate can grow up to 120 ft long! And it boasts a whopping 8 sets of 70 to 150 tentacles! Oh, boy! An average adult whale shark can grow as long as a school bus! - Megalodon roamed the ocean a long time ago — oh, about 15.9 to 2.6 million years back between the early Miocene and late Pliocene eras. It could reach anywhere between 45 ft to 60 ft in length with jaws more than 6 ft wide! - Shonisaurus lived on Earth during the late Triassic Period, about 215 million years ago. These prehistoric reptiles grew to be about 50 ft long and weighed about 60,000 lb! - Ophthalmosaurus thrived during the late Jurassic period and lived in oceans all over the world. It weighed somewhere around 6,000 lb and grew to approximately 16 ft long. - Another marine reptile that lived during the Jurassic Period was known as Liopleurodon. A more aggressive marine reptile, these carnivorous sea beasts weighed about 5,000 lb and grew to around 30 ft long. - Ichthyosaurus only grew to about 6 ft, which would put them at the same height as a guy who was slightly taller than average today. - The orca, also known as the killer whale, is a toothed whale and can grow to anywhere from 23 ft to 32 ft, which is slightly smaller than a school bus. - The largest whale that still exists today is the blue whale. If you were to put a blue whale next to a school bus, it would look like it could swallow it. - The Portuguese man o’ war, tentacles and all, can reach a length of 165 ft long. While this thing may look a lot like a jellyfish, it’s actually known as a siphonophore, and there are hundreds and sometimes thousands of them that are genetically identical. Living on the Ocean Floor - footage recorded by Vincent Zintzen, Te Papa Fish Team, Natural Environment. Film recorded using a baited Lander in various locations and depths around NZ. The video unit lights up the dark world of the deep sea. Food is scarce so the animals that live in the depths are attracted to the bait. The camera reveals the interesting behaviour of these creatures as they strive to survive in their extreme environment The footage of the seal shark attacking the hagfish, and getting a mouthful of slime for his troubles, is a good example of the knowledge gained through this difficult and exacting research.
