This is a complete road trip compilation from Santa Monica, California to New York City over eight different days from June-September, 2017 - all recorded in time-lapse at 4fps (nearly 100,000 frames total). Of the 3,253 miles (5,235 kilometers) driven, about 3 miles of this drive is missing, mostly in Colorado near Poncha Springs. Nearly all of this drive was done in daytime, but there is about 10 minutes of this video done in darkness in Arizona (about 1:00:00 to 1:10:00). The weather was good for the most part, except from Pennsylvania all the way to the Bronx, before clearing up in Manhattan. This trip also includes driving through the solar eclipse of August 21 in Nebraska (at about 3:30:00), as well as driving over the old Tappan Zee Bridge in upstate NY, which permanently closed a month later with the opening of the new Mario M Cuomo Bridge adjacent to it. The states passed through are California (0:00:35-0:40:54) Arizona (0:40:54-1:40:26) New Mexico (1:40:26-1:41:09) Colorado (1:41:09-3:07:17) Nebraska (3:07:17-3:51:05) Iowa (3:51:05-4:24:17) Illinois (4:24:17-4:50:42) Indiana (4:50:42-5:10:51) Ohio (5:10:51-5:39:13) West Virginia (5:39:13-5:40:48 & 5:47:09-5:51:52) Pennsylvania (5:40:48-5:47:09 & 6:04:43-6:32:49) Maryland (5:51:52-6:04:43) New York (6:32:49-6:50:03) The highest elevation of the drive was 11,539 ft (3,517 m) at 2:28:10. The highest elevation anywhere on the U.S. interstate system is 11,158 ft (3,401 m) at 2:33:41. Both of these elevations are two of the three continental divide crossings; the other, at 2:04:38 (10,856 ft / 3,309 m), is the first. The hottest temperature of this trip was 110 F (43 C) in Needles, California (about 0:40:16), and the coldest temperature of this trip was 53 F (11 C) in Tusayan, Arizona (about 1:10:04) - only about 230 miles (370 km) from Needles. Read my review on Forbes. https://www.forbes.com/sites/francistapon/2018/09/18/review-of-a-train-ride-across-america-on-amtrak-part-1-acela-express What's it really like to take Amtrak across the United States. I did it with three different styles of travel: 1. 1st-class from NYC to DC. 2. A sleeper roomette from DC to Chicago. 3. Coach from Chicago to Portland, Oregon. By experiencing Amtrak's three travel classes, I experienced the spectrum of what Amtrak has to offer. One thing I don't mention in the video is the most surprising thing about taking Amtrak. I was shocked by how comfy the coach seats are. They are like first class seats in an airline. The biggest weakness is the food quality, especially on the Acela Express, which goes between New York City and Washington, DC. In the video, some might conclude that the Superliner Roomette has a private bathroom and shower in it. It does not. Only the Superliner Bedroom has that level of luxury. If you're in the Roomette, you share the toilet and shower with other Roomette passengers. Disclosure: I received a press rate for my travel as a Forbes Contributor.

In January 2014, I drove across the US from New York City to Los Angeles with a GoPro Hero 3+ mounted to the car's windshield, capturing the entire trip with time-lapse photos taken roughly every 30 seconds on average (give or take some battery charging issues). You'll see the same blizzards, dust storms, mountains, deserts and sunsets I saw. The route went via the southern roads and highways, from New York to New Jersey, into Pennsylvania, into Maryland, West Virginia and Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, through New Mexico and Arizona and finally, California. The music is a medley of many songs on the soundtrack to my indie full-length feature film Wildlife, which is ALSO about a road trip, but fictionalized and absurd. The score is by Alessio Natalizia from the bands Walls, Not Waving, and Banjo or Freakout, and is an energetic mix of electronic textures and 4/4 rhythms and shoegaze guitar vignettes. www.wildlife-movie.com

Enjoy the ride. From Woodcrest NJ to Santa Clara CA. Took I-80 most of the way except US50 in Nevada and I-70 in the east. The loneliest road in America (US50 in Nevada, starts around 32:30 in this video) is very scenic to drive on and there isn't a lot of road work like on the I-80. For the entire trip of just over 3000 miles, except a small part in Philadelphia, the whole trip has no tolls, the booth you see after crossing CA/NV border is for agriculture related inspection. Also worth mentioning, the drought in California in 2014 is bad, very bad Dash cam: Powerucc Panorama 2

Travelzoo members may have seen the unbelievable RV deal we published in Top 20: $1 per day to crisscross the ribbons of highways across America’s West. It was such a good deal, we booked it ourselves. We needed to stay behind to keep putting out deals so we asked intrepid traveler, accomplished photographer and Instagrammer Brandon Sharpe to hit the road. He set off from Forest City, Iowa, where he picked up the ride from Apollo RV. From there he explored the Badlands, Mt. Rushmore, the Washington Cascades, Yosemite and Glacier National Park. This is the first video in our 4-part series. Brandon and his girlfriend Chelsey will share stories from their life on the road, and the stunning photos they captured along the way. #tzooroadtrip Read more of Brandon's adventures on our blog: http://www.travelzoo.com/blog/rv-road-trip-the-first-leg/ http://www.travelzoo.com/blog/rv-road-trip-second-leg/ http://www.travelzoo.com/blog/rv-road-trip-last-leg/ http://www.travelzoo.com/blog/epilogue-returning-epic-rv-road-trip/ Road trip packing list: http://www.travelzoo.com/blog/packing-list-road-trip/ Join for free: https://www.travelzoo.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/travelzoo Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/travelzoo Twitter: https://twitter.com/Travelzoo

Day 1 of Year Long Road Trip Across America With Our Tiny Trailer - this is it! The day we left Houston to try to visit all 59 US National Parks plus the remaining 33 states that we haven't been to. Big goals! We plan to finish all of them in 12 to 14 months. Oweee! We know this is going to take a lot of energy and patience from us. It is also a test of how strong our marriage and friendship is. HA! All the months of preparation boils down to this day. We are finally making it happen! We have changed our whole life and sacrificing a lot for this because we know it is worth it. Life is short and we all need to explore and have a little more adventure in our lives. It is not the norm, but what is normal? :-) Our first stop was Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas, which is about 9 hours drive from our house. It took us a little bit longer because of the stops to fill up our gas tank and plus we drive a little slower because we are towing our trailer. It was also windy the day that we left. The campground in Hot Springs National Park is called Gulpha Gorge. We actually love this campground. They have full hook ups and they have a machine to register. The ground is also asphalt and leveled which made it easier for us to level our trailer, which is pretty important for inexperienced campers like us :-). We are so excited that we finally started this adventure! Music: http://www.bensound.com WHO ARE WE? We, Irwin and Victorina, have decided to quit our jobs, sell everything we have and go on an epic road trip of visiting all U.S. National Parks! Follow our journey - from letting go of our material possessions, preparing for the extended camping trip, and even the mistakes, joys, doubts and adventures we make along the way! We hope to inspire others to appreciate the beauty of Planet Earth. Adventure begins in Feb 2017. We estimate this road trip will take us approximately 12 to 16 months. We know we will some amazing places and meet a lot of interesting people. If you have an idea or suggestions for us for places to visit along the way, feel free to contact us! NEW VIDEOS every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. If we miss a day, it is probably because we had no phone signal inside the park or we couldn't find any wifi access. If this is the case, we will upload our video as soon as we get any phone signal. WHERE HAVE WE BEEN FEATURED? During the first week of July, Lorne and I flew into Chicago. Unfortantly while arriving, Lorne swallowed a small slip lead and became obstructed. He had to have emergency surgery which ended up costing thousands of dollars, but without it he would have surely died, so the choice to preform the operation wasn't a choice at all! I was very scared. It was the middle of the night and I was far away in Minnesota visiting some friends. I called every hour to check on him and I can't describe what a relief it was speaking with the surgeon afterwards to hear that everything went flawlessly and that there was no internal damage. He recovered remarkably quickly and we spent the next week and a half visiting with family and friends all across the Midwest. When it was time to come home- we drove. An unforgettable experience and one I had taken with Sugar Tree, too, when she was just a pup. We left Indiana on Saturday and made our way to Arizona. We were on the road together for four days and met many different people and places- we even met a Bison in Oklahoma and went to the house that was used in the television series Breaking Bad in New Mexico. Some places we stopped in included Northwest, Indiana, the Chicago suburbs, Springfield, Illinois, St. Louis, Missouri, Branson, Missouri, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas panhandle, Albuquerque, New Mexico and finally home. We even drove past Sugar Tree exit. A road I passed many years ago while on a cross-country trip with a then nine week old Sugar Tree. I'll never forget passing the exit sign and glancing at my little dobie pup and asking, "Sugar Tree?" She looked back at me and that was that. It was strange seeing it again with a new nine week old puppy, after four long years. This time I got out and took a picture on the road. I think I'd like to have it framed and I'll post it up on Facebook account when I get a chance (http://www.facebook.com/camelsandfriends). Despite Lorne's scary accident, we had an incredible trip and it was a very rewarding experience for Lorne to have so many new and unique experiences. Once we returned to Arizona, Lorne's staples were removed and he's 100% recovered. The leash incident was a freak accident and I do not expect it to develop into a chronic problem. I have a couple more shorter clips to upload from our trip and I hope many other adventures still await us. If you would like to donate any toys, treats or food to Lorne for everything he's been though and help offset the cost of the multi-thousand dollar bill I now owe the wonderful veterinary clinic that saved his life. You can see our wish list here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/14RKCEYEMWH1Z/ref=cm_sw_su_w All items go directly to the animals to enrich their lives. As always, thank you for watching. I hope you love watching these videos, just as much as I love making them. Pretty soon I'll be sending everyone's feathers out who donated toward finding a friend for Sniper. Even though sadly our first attempt did not work out, I'm confident that with your help, we will see some ostrich chicks in the future. Even if it has to be next year. (Song list below!) From July 20th to August 5th, 2013, my friend Jessie and I toured around the nation. For the first leg of our trip, we started in Cleveland, Ohio and drove through the states of Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California to finally wet our feet in the Pacific at the Santa Monica Pier. This leg was mostly a Route 66-themed affair, with each individual state showing us its many cultural and historic roadside curiosities. The second leg of the trip was less about people (although, believe, by now we've met plenty of the most interesting ones), and more about the awe-inspiring, grand forces for mother nature. We passed through California again on the way back, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana to reach Ohio again. On the way, we experienced enough national parks, viewpoints, and scenic drives for a lifetime, especially in the Southern Utah/Canyon Country/Four Corners/Rocky Mountain region. On October 2nd 2015, Dallas & Solange flew from Los Angeles to Boston to buy a used car they had neither seen nor test-driven—manufactured by a company that no longer exists—with the intention of driving it back to LA. This is their Saab story.

From July 20th to August 5th, 2013, I toured around the nation with a good friend of mine. This trip is something I've been dreaming of for many years, and having finally gone forth and made it a reality, I can say that there are few things in life that compare to saving up and planning for multiple years until one day finding myself suddenly behind the wheel, leaving my driveway for the open road. No tour guides, no guidance from parents, just me and something I've wholly created myself (along with my friend of course). This year, I graduating high school and am planning to go on to college. I know that another opportunity like this will be hard to come by, with me entering the "real world", which makes it that much more special. However to say I've seen this entire awesome country in 2.5 weeks is a crime, and I hope that later in life, I'll have the opportunity to hit the road once again, this time for an extended amount of time. To those of you who like the idea of a road trip, DO IT! If you go along with 2-3 buddies, it is entire possible to do a trip like this on the budget of $1,000 per person. Much, much less depending on if you plan on car camping instead of lodging in hotels. The line between dreaming and acting is as nonexistent as you want it to be.

Ammar is usually the one setting us up on dates, so now it was turn to go one. But it had to be different. It had to be spontaneous. So he went on Bumble, matched with an awesome girl named Tali and asked her if she'd go on a spontaneous trip across the world within 48 hours. Basically I went on a road trip with my boyfriend (now husband!) from California to North Carolina, AKA cross country. We discovered the scam that is Grand Canyon West Rim, had the weirdest overnight stay at Grand Canyon Ranch, and had some trouble with our U-Haul trailer along the way. Then our truck broke down near Wickenberg, AZ which is legit a small cowboy town. We got stuck for days before heading out for Tucson, El Paso (Cattleman's!), Austin (Sixth Street!), and New Orleans (Bourbon Street during the Bayou Classic 2012!). ✈✈✈✈✈✈Stalk Me✈✈✈✈✈✈ Weekly Newsletter: http://eepurl.com/bPGRbL Blog: http://www.laurenwithoutfear.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/laurenwithoutfear Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/laurenwithoutfear Twitter: https://twitter.com/laurensansfear Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/laurensansfear Snapchat: laurenmatoke ✈✈✈✈✈✈Recommendations✈✈✈✈✈✈ Ultimate Travel Packing Guide: http://www.laviesanspeur.com/?p=507 The BEST VPN for China: https://www.linkev.com/?a_aid=laurenwithoutfear Lazy Girl's Guide To Mandarin Chinese: http://www.laviesanspeur.com/?p=980 Get $30 off your first AirBnB: http://bit.ly/2bLqa8m 2 Free Audiobooks: http://amzn.to/2czi1od ✈✈✈✈✈✈My Filming Equipment✈✈✈✈✈✈ GoPro Hero: http://bit.ly/laurensgopro Nikon D3200: http://amzn.to/2bzoihZ Gorilla Pod: http://amzn.to/2gnaVFr GoPro Car Mount: http://amzn.to/2g7vvrI GoPro Dog Harness: http://amzn.to/2j5dnwM ✈✈✈✈✈✈Contact Me✈✈✈✈✈✈ For business inquiries: laurenwithoutfear(at)gmail(dot)com ✈✈✈✈✈✈Music✈✈✈✈✈✈ Mountain Sun by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Artist: http://audionautix.com/ Travel Light by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Artist: http://audionautix.com/ So Alive by Gill Bondy is on Majestic Casual's Majestic Color playlist Royalty Free Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ybkq2XdgzBg *Most links above are affiliate links
