An impression of (West) Cyprus. More videos of Cyprus: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfDnpb75oMAAoQFJTeaeNBHQmQYyxPZ_n (The Republic of) Cyprus is an island country in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. Cyprus is the third largest and third most populous island in the Mediterranean, and a member state of the European Union. Cyprus was placed under British administration in 1878 and formally annexed by Britain in 1914. Cyprus was granted independence in 1960. In 1963, the 11-year intercommunal violence between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots started. A separate Turkish Cypriot state in the north was established in 1983. These events and the resulting political situation are matters of a continuing dispute. The island is close to Turkey, Syria, and Egypt. Both Greek and Turkish Cypriots prefer to think of themselves as living close to Europe rather than Africa and the Middle East. May, 2015 My camcorder equipment: https://youtu.be/8ZfOQCyeBho

Ibiza is a city and municipality located on the southeast coast of the island of Ibiza in the Balearic Islands autonomous community. Although called Ibiza in English and Spanish, the official name is the Catalan Eivissa (as restored in 1986) and its inhabitants call it the Vila d'Eivissa or simply Vila ("Town"). It is divided into two main parts: the old town, called the Dalt Vila (literally "Upper Town"), located on a little mountain by the sea, and the modern part, called the Eixample ("extension"). The city, which has a population of 49,768 (2012), is the capital and most populous settlement of the island and of the Pine Islands group, which includes Ibiza and Formentera. It is widely known and visited for its exciting nightlife. Two of the island's most notable nightclubs, Pacha and El Divino, are located in Ibiza itself, whereas Space is located just south of the town, near the airport. Sights include the cathedral of Santa Maria d'Eivissa (14th century), located at the top of the Dalt Vila, and the Punic necropolis of Puig des Molins. Nearby is also the monument of Christ, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a 23 metre-high statue inspired by Christ the Redeemer, which is 3.1 miles (5.0 km) north of the city.

Alexandria, Egypt - The Mediterranean port city in Egypt that was once the home for the old damaged lighthouse which was located in the same place where Qaitbay citadel now stands. Alexandria (known in Arabic as الأسكندرية) is considered the second biggest city in Egypt, coming directly after the capital, Cairo. Being placed on the Mediterranean sea and in the north central part of the country, Alexandria is important as a tourist destination and attraction, and also because of its natural gas and oil pipelines from Suez; so it is important for both locals and foreigners. The history of Alexandria is the main reason behind attracting tourists in the meantime. The name Alexandria came from Alexander the Great who founded it in the ancient times. The lighthouse of Alexandria was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world until it was destroyed by the attackers. The Bibliotheca Alexandria is not only a modern attraction but it was one of the largest in the ancient world until it was replaced with this modern one. The Necropolis of Alexandria was also one of the seven wonders of the middle ages. Alexandria might not be the capital of Egypt but it was once considered the second powerful city coming after Rome. This written history made Alexandria one of the cities that tourists want to visit after passing by Cairo, and it is important to say that it carries some good attractions that say a little bit about the past. Apart from the Alexandria fish dinner by the sea or the ice-cream while walking by the beach, there are some important historical destinations that one should visit to know this city more. The old buildings and the walks through the old streets with the salty breeze is definitely beautiful, but what about knowing more about this city's history? From the most famous landmarks of this city, Qaitbay citadel stands at the top and this not only goes back to the magnificent views one will see along with receiving a good sea breeze, but it is also one historical place were the old lighthouse was once located before it was damaged by attackers during the wars (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TypQ9NcNE00). Coming directly after the Qaitbay citadel, Bibliotheca Alexandria is the second important landmark of this city. The library of Alexandria was found since the time of Alexander and it was one of the biggest in the ancient world, but it then faced some restorations and was transformed into the modern library that people visit these days. Another famous attraction in this city is Alexandria National Museum which tells the story of Alexandria to those who come across it through the different artifacts that it carries and which most of them came from other museums in Egypt. This museum is housed in the old Al-Saad Bassili Palaca, who was one of the wealthiest wood merchants in Alexandria. Of course, Alexandria doesn't come fully on the sea shore, there are still inside streets that carry much of the history that one would want to know more about when it comes to this old city. Qaitbay citadel and the library of Alexandria are placed on the sea, but most of the other museums are not. These are the most famous landmarks found in Alexandria but are not considered the only options, so for those willing to go to Alexandria, Egypt, you could also visit the Greco-Roman Museum, the aquarium of Alexandria - which is just minutes away from the citadel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXcc6v4C_lI), the Royal Jewelry Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Montaza Palace and garden, Shalalat Gardens, and Alexandria Opera House. Spending a couple of days in Alexandria will definitely be filled with places to visit and historical areas to come across, and you will even get the chance to take a dip in the sea. If you want more of a summer place that could offer you a good beach and at the same time some silence away from all the hassle of the city, then heading to the North Coast, which is only about an hour or less by the car, will be always considered a good idea to think about (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atJfRWSR3lI). Egypt in general is a good country to visit for all the history that it carries, you might find some negative points about the place, such as not caring much about the cleanliness of the streets, but you will come back with a really good amount of information, keeping in mind that due to the economic problems, it is considered an affordable country to spend a couple of days in. At the end, who would not feel excited about the idea of visiting the Great Pyramids of Giza (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlsFcP3EV0k) or going through the caves of the Qaitbay citadel that will always take him/her to the sea at the end? Almost nobody and that is exactly the reason we recommend visiting Alexandria and Egypt in general. Just put down your plan and we are going to help you with suggesting those famous landmarks and historical places which you are going to enjoy in Egypt as a whole.

Istanbul is the most strategically important city in the world. It's located on one of the busiest waterways in the world, the Bosporus straight, which links the Black Sea with the Mediterranean, and a land route between Europe and Asia. Notes about the names of Istanbul: During the Ottoman Empire, the people of the city would call it Istanbul, while the government still referred to the city as the Turkish variant of Constantinople. The city's official name was not changed to Istanbul until Turkey became a republic. Byzantium was refereed to as the New Rome until after emperor Constantine's death, when it became Constantinople. Bat Yam (Hebrew: בת ים) is a city located on Israel's Mediterranean Sea coast, on the central coastal strip, just south of Tel Aviv. Real estate sale in Bat Yam - http://arenda.israelhome.ru/eng/about_bat_yam/ Short-term rent of apartments in Bat Yam - http://arenda.israelhome.ru/eng/about_bat_yam/ Part of the Gush Dan metropolitan area, in the Tel Aviv District, the city is home to 129,100 people. Early history Bat Yam was established in 1926 as Bayit VaGan (Hebrew: בית וגן; House and Garden), and was geared toward Orthodox Jews. During the 1929 Palestine riots, Bayit VaGan came under attacks by Arab gangs from neighbouring Jaffa and was evacuated by British Authorities before being reestablished in 1930. In 1936 the town was given the status of local council, and in 1938, the name of the town was changed to Bat Yam. By 1945 the population had grown to 2000 Jews. Israeli Independence Following the United Nations vote in favour of a partition plan on 29 November 1947 and the subsequent outbreak of violence, Bat Yam came under heavy attack from Jaffa, until Jaffa surrendered on 13 May 1948. Bat Yam Municipal Stadium In the years following Israel's independence, Bat Yam grew dramatically due to mass immigration, gaining the status of a city in 1958. After this point, however, Bat Yam began to suffer from an Israeli version of "white flight". As more and more immigrants moved to the city, socio-economic problems began to appear. Relatively low real estate prices and a building boom during the 1970s and 1980s, saw even more migrants from lower socio-economic strata, mainly second- and third generation descendants of Jewish immigrants from Arab countries move into the city. As a result, middle-class veteran inhabitants of Bat Yam started to move out, primarily to the newer suburbs of Rishon LeZion, a boomtown south of Bat Yam. The city gained a sizeable community of Jews from Turkey (est. 23% of the population) and has therefore hosted visits from the Turkish president, Süleyman Demirel, and prime minister, Tansu Çiller. Recent history Bat Yam beach. Bat Yam once again experienced a period of rapid growth early 1990s with the mass-immigration from the former Soviet Union leading to many choosing Bat Yam as their new home due to its proximity to the industrial centres of the country, and relatively low real estate prices. The influx of Russians and Georgians, however, did nothing to help the city's socio-economic crisis, and by the early 2000s, following financial scandals resulting from the declining local leadership led by Yehoshua Saguy, the city was placed at the brink of bankruptcy. In 2003 a new mayor, Shlomo Lahiani, was elected and the city began to rejuvenate, with some areas having already been transformed. There remain to this day, however, some zones of the city which still suffer from the issues which plagued the whole of this city just a few years ago. Bat Yam started to lose its image of the "poor suburb", thanks to large investments in education, culture and the appearance of the city. In 2008 the Bat-Yam International Biennale of Landscape Urbanism was held for the first time. A small Hasidic enclave of Bobover Hasidim, known as Kiryat Bobov, was also established in Bat Yam. Margarita Lautin, 31 of Yehud was killed accidentally in a botched assassination attempt by the Abergil Crime Family while strolling on the Bat Yam beach with her husband Alexander and two children. Shlomo Lahiani was re-elected as the mayor of Bat Yam in the municipal elections of November 11, 2008. He won 86 per cent of the votes, which, according to Israeli media, is a result unprecedented in a big city. Tourism The location of Bat Yam on the Mediterranean makes it popular with beach-goers. Furthermore the city has several museums, including the Bat Yam City Museum "Ben Ari", the Museum "Ryback" with a collection of paintings of the painter, Issachar Ber Ryback. There is also a museum in the memory of the Yiddish writer Sholem Asch who lived his last years in Bat Yam, and a small Holocaust museum. Transport Bus service Bat Yam is served by bus only. Not only did the lost city of Atlantis actually exist, but its true location has been hiding in plain sight for thousands of years, completely unnoticed, as we’ve been looking in all the wrong places...Since everyone assumes that it must be under the ocean somewhere, such as in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean or the Mediterranean Sea, which have long been considered to be the most likely places for its existence. And no, I am not about to suggest that Antarctica is the hidden location of Atlantis, either. Because in this video, I am going to connect the dots on the exact words that Plato used to describe Atlantis, its location, and the geographical land features that surround it, which were recorded in Plato’s dialogues, the Critias and Timaeus. And the details that Plato shared of Atlantis, which I’m about to share with you in side by side comparison, will show you that the Richat Structure located in Mauritania Africa, also commonly referred to as the Eye of the Sahara, or the Eye of Africa…is the most likely location for the lost city of Atlantis. Here is the top list of mysterious sunken underwater cities in the world found underwater! These strange and mindblowing but also amazing forgotten ancient underwater ruins are located deep into the ocean. Check out Alexandria, City of Cuba, Yonaguni, Lake Titicaca, Pavlopetri, Lion City, Heracleion and more underwater cities! Yonaguni Pyramids In the mid 80s, Divers found underwater rock terraces and pyramids off the coast of Yonaguni Jima. Yonaguni Jima is an island that lies near the southern tip of Japan's Ryukyu archipelago, About 75 miles off the eastern coast of Taiwan. At first scientists believed they might be natural formations, but There are quarry marks and some writing on the stones and animal statues that have also been found underwater. Now some experts believe that The structures Could be what is left of the mythical city of Mu, a fabled Pacific civilization rumored to have vanished beneath the waves. Masaki Kimura, a marine geologist from the University of Japan, Has been studying the underwater pyramids for over 15 years. The underwater structures include castle ruins, a triumphal arch, five temples and at least one large stadium, all of which are Connected by roads and water channels and are partly shielded by what could be huge retaining walls. Kimura believes the ruins date back to at least 5,000 years, based on the dates of stalactites found inside underwater caves that he says sank with the city. The theory is that the ancient underwater city Might have been sunk by an earthquake or tsunami around 2,000 years ago. Yonaguni invites tourists and researchers to dive freely around the site. 2. Sunken City of Cuba In 2001, A company called Advanced Digital Communications (ADC) was working with Fidel Castro's government to explore Cuban waters looking for sunken Spanish ships loaded with treasure. Their Sonar equipment picked up a series of geometrical structures lying on the bottom of the ocean. Here's a computer generated image of the pyramids and other structures found underwater. The structures and design made it look like there was A gigantic underwater city at the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle. The media went crazy claiming that Atlantis had been discovered in Cuba. There are local legends of the Maya and native Yucatecos that tell of an Island inhabited by their ancestors that vanished beneath the waves. If it's true the structures were made by an ancient civilization, they would have been the Most technologically advanced structures on the planet at that time. Scientists estimate that they would have been built about 50,000 years ago which doesn't seem very likely. The numerous structures and cities that have been discovered underwater around the world Lie less than 120 meters (or 395 feet) below sea level, which comes as no surprise since the sea level never fell below this mark during the time Homo sapiens walked the earth. This Cuban city, if we can call it that, is the Only exception since It is submerged over 700 meters (2300 feet) underwater. If the large structures are actually pyramids, 2 of them are Even larger than the pyramids of Giza and Cheops in Egypt. As of yet there is no plausible explanation for the existence of this city and ADC is still trying to investigate the site. 3. Lake Titicaca Lake Titicaca is Located in the Andes between Bolivia and Peru. It is the largest freshwater lake in South America and was the cradle of Peru's ancient civilizations, including the Inca. Their presence can be seen on Lake Titicaca by the ruins they left behind, including A mysterious underwater temple thought to be between 1,000 and 1,500 years old. In the Incan creation myth, The god Con Tiqui Viracocha emerged from Lake Titicaca. After commanding the sun, moon, and the stars to rise, Viracocha created more human beings from stone. After bringing them to life, Viracocha Commanded them to go and populate the world. The Incas therefore believed that Lake Titicaca was their place of origin, and that upon death, Their spirits would return to this lake. Archeologists located a huge temple in 2000 after following a submerged road (and I'm sure following advice from locals). After 18 days of diving below the clear waters of Titicaca, scientists said they had Discovered a 660-foot long, 160-foot wide temple, a terrace for crops, and a 2,600-foot containing wall along with gold and statues. It is said the lost city was Covered with sediment during a great flood of biblical proportions and local people had passed down the stories of the underwater temple and flood from generation to generation.

"Brought to the boil". I recorded this excellent series from the telly, in the mid 80s. It was made in 1960 by the Rank Organization and ATV and is one of a series of 13. This is the only one that survived because I transferred it to DVD some time ago. It covers the British Royal Navy action in the Med and is narrated by Rear Admiral, Roy Foster Brown.

The second part of the journey from Croatia goes from the island of Vis to Dubrovnik. At the time of communist Yugoslavia, but also long before, Vis was restricted due to its excellent strategic position. Also Tito's partisan army had its headquarters in a cave in Mount Hum. The waters around Vis count to the most fishy of the Adriatic. Far above its regional boundaries, however, Vis is neither known for its wine nor for the rich fish rich in the sea. The Blue Grotto of Bisevo is the main reason for many tourists coming from Split or from the surrounding islands. Makarska is the most famous tourist resort on the Croatian Riviera. After the war in Croatia in the 1990s, the city was modernized with great effort. The historic old town experienced an addition to new hotels, restaurants and shops. With an area of 396 square kilometers, Brac is the third largest island of the Adriatic and the largest of Croatia. The "goldene Horn", a sandhorn about 300 m long, is the tourist landmark. However, Brac is known worldwide, especially among the handworkers. The white house in Washington / USA was built from the snow-white Bracer limestone. Another important place is the island of Korcula. The parents of Marco Polo, the most important seafarer of European history, lived here. Whether her famous son was born here, is not handed down. Highlight of this part of the trip to Croatia is the visit of the city of Dubrovnik, the city of churches and monasteries.

The Aegean Sea is an elongated embayment of the Mediterranean Sea located between the Greek and Anatolian peninsulas, i.e., between the mainlands of Greece and Turkey. In the north, it is connected to the Marmara Sea and Black Sea by the Dardanelles and Bosporus. The Aegean Islands are within the sea and some bound it on its southern periphery, including Crete and Rhodes. The sea was traditionally known as Archipelago, but in English this word's meaning has changed to refer to the Aegean Islands and, generally, to any island group. The Aegean Sea covers about 214,000 square kilometres (83,000 sq mi) in area, and measures about 610 kilometres (380 mi) longitudinally and 300 kilometres (190 mi) latitudinally. The sea's maximum depth is 3,543 metres (11,624 ft), east of Crete. The Aegean Islands are found within its waters, with the following islands delimiting the sea on the south (generally from west to east): Kythera, Antikythera, Crete, Kasos, Karpathos and Rhodes. The word archipelago was originally applied specifically to the Aegean Sea and its islands. Many of the Aegean Islands, or chains of islands, are actually extensions of the mountains on the mainland. One chain extends across the sea to Chios, another extends across Euboea to Samos, and a third extends across the Peloponnese and Crete to Rhodes, dividing the Aegean from the Mediterranean. The bays and gulfs of the Aegean beginning at the South and moving clockwise include on Crete, the Mirabelli, Almyros, Souda and Chania bays or gulfs, on the mainland the Myrtoan Sea to the west, the Saronic Gulf northwestward, the Petalies Gulf which connects with the South Euboic Sea, the Pagasetic Gulf which connects with the North Euboic Sea, the Thermian Gulf northwestward, the Chalkidiki Peninsula including the Cassandra and the Singitic Gulfs, northward the Strymonian Gulf and the Gulf of Kavala and the rest are in Turkey; Saros Gulf, Edremit Gulf, Dikili Gulf, Gulf of Çandarlı, İzmir Gulf, Kuşadası Gulf, Gulf of Gökova, Güllük Gulf. egean surface water circulates in a counter-clockwise gyre, with hypersaline Mediterranean water moving northward along the west coast of Turkey, before being displaced by less dense Black Sea outflow. The dense Mediterranean water sinks below the Black Sea inflow to a depth of 23–30 metres (75–98 ft), then flows through the Dardanelles Strait and into the Sea of Marmara at velocities of 5–15 cm/s. The Black Sea outflow moves westward along the northern Aegean Sea, then flows southwards along the east coast of Greece. The physical oceanography of the Aegean Sea is controlled mainly by the regional climate, the fresh water discharge from major rivers draining southeastern Europe, and the seasonal variations in the Black Sea surface water outflow through the Dardanelles Strait. The current coastline dates back to about 4000 BC. Before that time, at the peak of the last ice age (c.16,000 BC) sea levels everywhere were 130 metres lower, and there were large well-watered coastal plains instead of much of the northern Aegean. When they were first occupied, the present-day islands including Milos with its important obsidian production were probably still connected to the mainland. The present coastal arrangement appeared c. 7000 BC, with post-ice age sea levels continuing to rise for another 3,000 years after that. The subsequent Bronze Age civilizations of Greece and the Aegean Sea have given rise to the general term Aegean civilization. In ancient times, the sea was the birthplace of two ancient civilizations – the Minoans of Crete and the Mycenean Civilization of the Peloponnese. Later arose the city-states of Athens and Sparta among many others that constituted the Athenian Empire and Hellenic Civilization. Plato described the Greeks living round the Aegean "like frogs around a pond". The Aegean Sea was later invaded by the Persians and the Romans, and inhabited by the Byzantine Empire, the Bulgarians, the Venetians, the Genoese, the Seljuq Turks, and the Ottoman Empire. The Aegean was the site of the original democracies, and its seaways were the means of contact among several diverse civilizations of the Eastern Mediterranean. Many of the islands in the Aegean have safe harbours and bays. In ancient times, navigation through the sea was easier than travelling across the rough terrain of the Greek mainland (and to some extent the coastal areas of Anatolia). Many of the islands are volcanic, and marble and iron are mined on other islands. The larger islands have some fertile valleys and plains. Of the main islands in the Aegean Sea, two belong to Turkey – Bozcaada (Tenedos Τένεδος) and Gökçeada (Imbros Ίμβρος); the rest belong to Greece. Between the two countries, there are political disputes over several aspects of political control over the Aegean space, including the size of territorial waters, air control and the delimitation of economic rights to the continental shelf.
