On May 7, the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida got a loud surprise. One of the Air Force's two secret X-37B space planes announced its re-entry to Earth with a loud sonic boom. The plane is part of the Air Force's X-37 program. Not much is known about this program except that the Air Force has launched four missions since 2010. Moreover, the plane that returned from orbit on May 7 stayed in space longer than any of the previous three missions. What are those space planes doing up in space? TR 3B Aurora Secret Plane | Top-Secret US Air Force Black Triangle Visit Us: https://www.matrixdisclosure.com Song: Fredji - Blue Sky (Vlog No Copyright Music) Music provided by Vlog No Copyright Music. Video Link: https://youtu.be/Hf6vHY0lQTI TR-3B, evolves at high altitude, invisible (using STEALTH technology), being a recognition platform with indefinite flying time. Once it arrives at high speed, it does not need much propulsion to maintain altitude. At Groom Lake, rumors came of a new element that acts as a plasma catalyst. With the weight of the vehicle reduced by 89%, it can travel by 9 Mach (9 times the speed of sound, approx. 10,000 km / h, ) either vertically or horizontally. Some sources say performance is limited only by pilots’ biological limitations. There are many, considering that the mass is reduced by 89%, and G-forces (gravity.) Are also reduced by 89%. The TR-3B propulsion is provided by three multi-mode propellers mounted at each lower corner of the triangular platform. TR-3B moves below Mach 9 to climb 120,000 meters (120 Km), then God knows how fast it can move. The three multimode rocket engines mounted under each corner of the platform, use hydrogen or methane and oxygen for propulsion. In a rocket system that uses hydrogen and liquid oxygen, 85% of the propulsion provides oxygen. The nuclear missile engine uses a liquid-oxygenated thermal propellant for additional power. The reactor heats up liquid hydrogen and injects liquid oxygen through supersonic nozzles so that hydrogen burns at the same time as liquid oxygen. The multimodal propulsion system can operate in the atmosphere, with the propulsion provided by the nuclear reactor, in the upper atmosphere with hydrogen propulsion, and in the combined hydrogen/oxygen propulsion. What you have to remember is that the 3 rocket engines propel only 11% of TR-3B’s Top Secret mass. Engines are built by Rockwell. Observation of triangular UFOs means they are not necessarily extraterrestrial, but top secret – TR-3B. NSA, NRO, CIA, and USAF played a shell game with the nomenclature of these aircraft.

America is developing a pair of two new high-tech fighter aircraft, and you probably haven’t heard much about them. Under the leadership of Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, the Pentagon has clamped down on talking about cutting-edge capabilities in development. Nevertheless, some details have emerged about the ongoing programs, one each from the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy. And in light of European plans for new fighter designs, it is worth revisiting what is, and isn’t, known about the American efforts.

An interesting aircraft documentary about Russian air force military aircraft that some believe are the worst nightmare of the us air force. The Russian Air Force (Russian: Военно-воздушные cилы России, tr. Voyenno-Vozdushnye Sily Rossii) is the aerial warfare service branch of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. It is currently under the command of Colonel General Viktor Bondarev. The Russian Navy has its own air arm, the Russian Naval Aviation, which is the former Soviet Aviatsiya Voyenno Morskogo Flota ("Naval Aviation"), or AV-MF). The Air Force was formed from parts of the former Soviet Air Forces after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991–92. Boris Yeltsin's creation of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation on 7 May 1992, can be taken as a convenient formation date for the new Air Force. Since that time, the Air Force has suffered severe setbacks due to lack of resources, and has constantly shrunk in size. Since Vladimir Putin became President of the Russian Federation however, much more money has been allocated to the Armed Forces as a whole. Since 2000 General Kornukov was succeeded by General Vladimir Mikhaylov in 2002. In December 2003 the aviation assets of the Army—mostly helicopters—were transferred to the VVS, following the shooting down of a Mi-26 helicopter in Chechnya on 19 August 2002, that claimed 19 lives. The former Army Aviation was in its previous form intended for the direct support of the Ground Forces, by providing their tactical air support, conducting tactical aerial reconnaissance, transporting airborne troops, providing fire support of their actions, electronic warfare, setting of minefield barriers and other tasks. The former Army Aviation is now managed by the Chief of the Department of Army Aviation, who in mid-2007 was Lieutenant General Anatoly Surtsukov. In October 2004 the disbandment was announced of the 200th and 444th Bomber Aviation Regiments with Tupolev Tu-22M3, of the 28th, 159th, 790th, and 941st Fighter Aviation Regiments, of the 302nd and 959th Regiments equipped with Sukhoi Su-24, and of the 187th and 461st Assault Aviation Regiments with the Sukhoi Su-25. These disbandments did not go ahead. The Air Force continues to suffer from a lack of resources for pilot training. In the 1990s Russian pilots achieved approximately 10% of the flight hours of the United States Air Force. The 2007 edition of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Military Balance listed pilots of tactical aviation flying 20–25 hours a year, 61st Air Army pilots (former Military Transport Aviation), 60 hours a year, and Army Aviation under VVS control 55 hours a year. General Mikhailov was succeed by General Colonel Aleksandr Zelin in 2007. Zelin said in August 2007 that by 2011 the Air Force would deploy advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) with flight range of up to 400 kilometers (250 mi) and flight duration of up to 12 hours. The UAVs of both fixed- and rotary-wing types will perform a variety of tasks, including reconnaissance, attack, retransmission of radio signals and target designation, he said. In August 2007, the commander of the 16th Air Army, General Major Alexander Belevitch, said that the 16th Air Army would soon receive two regiments of the advanced Su-34 Fullback fighter-bombers in the near future. However, as of 2010, only 16 Su-34s are in service, and only one frontline unit has received any aircraft. Belevitch also said the formation would receive MiG-29SM 'Fulcrum' fighters to replace outdated MiG-29s and modernised Su-25 Frogfoot close support aircraft, which showed outstanding performance during operations in Afghanistan, Chechnya and other "hot spots." Russia resumed the Soviet-era practice of sending its bomber aircraft on long-range flights at a permanent basis in July and August 2007, after a 15-year unilateral suspension due to fuel costs and other economic difficulties after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Patrols towards the North Pole, the Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean were reinstated, bringing the planes often close to NATO territory, most recently flying over the Irish Sea, between the UK and Ireland. In 2008 the Air Force lost between 4 and 7 aircraft to Georgian anti-aircraft fire during the 2008 South Ossetian War. Warfare.ru indicates that in early 2009 the Air Force went through a major restructuring, in which air armies were succeeded by commands, and most air regiments becoming airbases. However, Combat Aircraft, in a piece by Stefan Buttner in its August–September 2009 issue, presented the order of battle as being substantially unchanged. Eventually Aviation Week & Space Technology confirmed that the reorganisation would be completed by December 2009 and would see a 40 percent reduction in aircrew numbers.

In 2013, Lockheed Martin announced development of the successor to the SR-71 Blackbird spy plane. The SR-71 was capable of reaching speeds over three times the speed of sound, and the SR-72 is intended to have even more impressive specs. Following is a transcript of the video. The SR-72 is the successor to the SR-71 Blackbird spy plane, which was the fastest plane to ever exist. Built by Lockheed Martin in the 1960s, the SR-71 could reach speeds exceeding Mach 3 (above 2,200 mph). That's over 3 times faster than the speed of sound. The recon jets went out of service in 1998. Development of the SR-72 was announced in 2013. It will be headed by "Skunk Works," Lockheed's advanced development program. Lockheed calls the SR-72 a "game changer." The jet will be an unmanned hypersonic aircraft. Lockheed claims it will reach speeds topping Mach 6 — over 4,500 mph — and they also want the jet to do more than just recon missions, including the ability to strike targets. Experts say the jet could reach anywhere in the world within an hour. Rumors of sightings have flooded the internet. Recently, an unmanned aircraft was seen at a Skunk Works facility. Reports say it could have been an early test for the SR-72. Lockheed confirmed plans to fly a research vehicle in the early 2020s. If all goes well, it may not be long before the fastest plane ever hits the skies. -------------------------------------------------- Follow BI Video on Twitter: http://bit.ly/1oS68Zs Follow BI on Facebook: http://bit.ly/1W9Lk0n Read more: http://www.businessinsider.com/ -------------------------------------------------- Business Insider is the fastest growing business news site in the US. Things you didn't know about air force one! Unbelievable secrets about the amazing Boeing plane that carries the President of The United States of America CORRECTION: In #6 we mention the U.S. defense budget as 8.1 trillion dollars, however this is not annual but over 12 years from 2015 to 2026. #9 Overdue Upgrade For over half a century, the aircraft corporation Boeing has been the sole provider for all of the head of state’s air transportation needs. Originally initiated with the first overseas presidential flight taken by Franklin Roosevelt in 1943 to Casablanca, the Boeing B-314 “Dixie Clipper” is considered to be history’s introduction to Air Force One. In the late 1950s, the company built the first plane dedicated to serving the commander-in-chief with the development of the Boeing VC-137A. It debuted under the term of Dwight Eisenhower with a 19-day maiden voyage across 11 nations. Currently, the pair of jets serving as Air Force One are extremely customized Boeing 747-200B models and were purchased under the Reagan administration. With production of the plane long since ended, the need for new presidential planes has only gotten more serious with each new presidency. And so, under the Obama administration, two Boeing 747-8 models were commissioned to be converted to airbound presidential command centers. Since taking office, though, President Trump has made numerous modifications to this order, claiming to try to lower costs, and the total price and completion date have yet to be seen.

Nuclear Resistance The government has taken special precautions in case of a full-blown nuclear apocalypse and air force one would prove to be a formidable stronghold. In the event that this were ever to happen the plane’s body is built to withstand a nuke detonated from the ground. Thanks to armor plating, as long as the president is not too close to the actual blast, radiation exposure wouldn’t be able to seep through by any means. 11. Dimensions So there are some notable differences between commercial boeing 747’s and the ones the president uses. The weight difference is about a total of 154,000 pounds, weighing in at 987,000 pounds. which means you know there’s some heavy cargo on there. The difference between the normal wingspan and the presidential wingspan is about 29 feet with the presidential version stretching longer, measuring at 224 feet and 5 inches. In addition, it’s also longer measure from the nose to rear at 250 feet and 2 inches making it also the longest commercial jet in the world. Let’s see the chinese try to beat that! 10. Ecofriendly The president just can’t go around every country he wants to and spew a bunch of toxic pollution into the air just because he’s the president, can he? In any case, we at least tell other countries that our presidential jumbo jet is completely eco friendly and emits 16 tons less co2 per trip over the typical 747-200. That would require about 13 acres of american national park forests to purify that much each year. 9. Let’s make Air Force One Great Again There have been some ideas to make air force one look just a little bit more american with a new cool patriotic paint job, complete with stars, stripes, bald eagles and all that good stuff. The ceo of america would also prefer that the beds be a little bit more comfortable like the ones in his personal jet. The new air force one with these upgrades will likely be ready in 2021 and cost about 4 billion dollars. Others still think his dream jet likely won’t happen. 8. Bootlegging Sometimes presidents won’t want to go anywhere without the right fresh beer on board. A long time ago, Coors wasn’t available for sale on the eastern side of the US states and that was Gerald ford’s favorite beer. In order to make sure he was able to get a little drunk on a plane, he would continually request his secret service members to bring some with him. Each time they went to colorado, they would stock up on coors before going anywhere.

Get the first 2 months of Skillshare for free: https://skl.sh/mustard5 Enjoy over 23,000 classes covering just about anything! It sounds like the stuff of science fiction: A Boeing 747 with an internal hanger loaded with 10 specially designed fighter jets. An on board crew to launch, recover, refuel and rearm the jets while in mid-flight. Sleeping quarters and a crew lounge to ensure that a squadron of 14 fighter pilots and 18 mission specialists stay rested. All of it hurtling forward at Mach 0.85, 35 thousand feet above sea-level. That’s asking a lot from a Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet. But a once classified feasible study prepared for the U.S. Air Force details how it could be done. An Airborne Aircraft Carrying Boeing 747 might have been an overly-ambitious, overly-complex and ham-handed idea from 1970s, but it wasn’t entirely out of left field. The U.S. Military had been experiment with the aerial aircraft carrier concepts for nearly half a century. In the early 1930s, two U.S. Navy airships, the USS Akron and the USS Macon carried up to 5 planes stored inside an internal hangar bay. These airborne aircraft carriers enhanced the Navy’s seaborne scouting ability, and the airships’ onboard planes could be deployed for further scouting or defensive purposes. But both USS Akron and Macon were destroyed in weather related accidents not even 3 years after their introductions, helping to put an end to any future airship-based aircraft carriers. But the experiments continued in the 1940s, this time spurred on by a need to protect long-range intercontinental bombers. A seemingly sensible solution to extending escort fighter range was to have long-range bombers carry escort fighters onboard which could be deployed and recovered when needed. But the promising concept proved far more difficult in reality, with aircraft recovery being a particularly dangerous endeavor. Multiple docking methods were attempted, but only one version using a trapeze mechanism and a full-sized fighter ever saw limited service. By the mid-1950s, aerial refueling had proven itself to be a far more practical and safe solution to extending aircraft range. Yet, the Air Force reexamined the concept again in the early 1970s. This time, spurred on by perceived strategic vulnerabilities to conventional seaborne carriers and the new opportunities brought on the enormous Boeing 747 and Lockheed C-5. The feasibility study titled #747 #Boeing #FlyingAircraftCarrier Declassified ‘Investigation of a Micro-Fighter/Airborne Aircraft Carrier Concept’ can be found here: https://apps.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/529372.pdf Select footage courtesy the AP Archive AP Archive website: http://www.aparchive.com YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/aparchive and https://www.youtube.com/c/britishmovietone Link to the Mustard Store: www.mustardchannel.com/store Special thanks to Nick Arehart for helping clean up our audio: https://twitter.com/airhrt_ Special thanks to: Wyatt Doran, Gibbo, Jake Hart, Coby Tang, Cole Gerdemann, Christian Altenhofen, Xan Daven, Felix Wassmer, Jefferson Hu, Jean-christophe, Colin Millions, TOOLCO CORP, Anthony, Razvan Caliman, Joseph Zadeh, Mark Mills, Robert Tait, Danny Wolf, Matt Waters, Trent Bosley, and Christopher Boyd for supporting us on Patreon and helping Mustard grow: https://www.patreon.com/MustardChannel Music (reproduced under license): Intro Song: “Dark Horizons” - https://www.pond5.com/stock-music/64950802/f-giovannangelo-dark-horizons-accompaniment-only.html Main Song 2: "Funk This" - https://audiojungle.net/item/funk-this/23168178?s_rank=6 Main Song 2: "Out To Sea" - https://www.pond5.com/stock-music/70971036/out-sea-alt-midtempo-epic-drama-bed-danger-military.html Main Song 3: “Dark Horizons” - https://www.pond5.com/stock-music/64950802/f-giovannangelo-dark-horizons-accompaniment-only.html Extro Song: “Undercover Spy” - https://www.pond5.com/stock-music/95173660/undercover-spy.html

From top secret stealth fighters, to vertical landing jets, these are the MOST Advanced Fighter Aircraft ! HEY YOU ! There are more awesome videos being made every week, like and subscribe to World Unearthed so you don't miss a beat ! "The appearance of U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) visual information does not imply or constitute DoD endorsement." 7.Eurofighter Typhoon | EU 6. F-35 | USA www.dvidshub.net/video/576407 www.dvidshub.net/video/580864 www.dvidshub.net/video/531568 www.dvidshub.net/video/476198 The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II family of fighter aircraft was developed in the early 2000’s. It all started with the X-35, a prototype for the Joint Strike Fighter program from the 1990s. The first official flight of the F-35 was in December of 2006, since then, the U.S. Military plans to order more than 2,500 aircraft, and worldwide, the aircraft will be available to all these countries. When I say this I mean that the F-35 will be produced until 2037 and has been projected to be in service until 2070. Crazy right? It's not cheap either, the jets cost between $94 million to $122 million each. There are 3 main variants, The F-35 A, B and C. Each model has specific use cases, but they all come equipped with these futuristic helmets that have Heads Up Displays. As it turns out all that experience in Battlefield might be worth something in the future ! The F-35A is the lightest and smallest version, but it does have a 25mm cannon internal cannon ready to go. During development, it was expected to replace the A-10 Warthog, but that doesn’t seem likely anymore. The F-35B is the STOVL variant, in other words, short takeoff and vertical landing. Yes. Vertical landing. Check this video out, aaand plop, there it goes. Finally, the F-35C will be primarily used by the U.S. Navy, thus it is called the “carrier” variant. 5.Sukhoi Su-57 | RUSSIA 4. Chengdu J-20 | CHINA Introduced in 2017, this all weather fighter took its first flight in January 2011, it will be the main air superiority fighter of the Chinese military and it is believed to already be in service. Each unit costs about $110 million and right now, there are 20 plus J-20s in use by the Chinese. The stealth characteristics of the J-20 resemble the shaping and design of the American F-22, which we will cover later on. The first official test flight occurred at the same time that the United States Secretary of Defense was visiting the country, some people took that as a show of power, but the director of the NSA, James Clapper, said that the United States had known about the J-20 program for years and the test flight was not a surprise. There were other bad rumors surrounding the Chinese program, including a report that stated hackers retrieved information from the F-35 Lightning II project, which might have helped in the production of the J-20. 3. Mitsubishi X-2 Shinshin | JAPAN 2.F-22 Raptor | USA www.dvidshub.net/video/481165 www.dvidshub.net/video/150832 www.dvidshub.net/video/508041 Possibly the most controversial aircraft on this list is the F-22 Raptor, it took its first flight in September 1997 and at the insane cost of $150 million per unit, it has had its issues. Lockheed Martin started development of the Raptor in 1986 and by 2005, the F-22 Raptor was ready for combat use ! As I mentioned earlier, the F-22 is banned from export under U.S. law, since it contains top secret technology that cannot fall into the wrong hands. In 2006, the Raptors need was challenged, some people believed there was a lack of relevant adversaires for the fighter jet, thus there was no reason to produce anymore of them. Ultimately the F-22 Raptor was limited to a production cap of 187 aircraft, some government officials believe that 187 units is not enough to defend against rising threats from China and Russia. The F-22 is praised for its stealth technology and it is believed to be years ahead of previous stealth fighters like the F-117.However, there have been serious issues with the aircraft. Six Raptors undertook their first overseas deployment in 2007, and suffered major system failures when crossing the 180th Meridian, known as the International Date Line. The aircraft had to return to a Hawaiian base by following tanker aircraft. Pilots have experienced loss of consciousness and memory loss during flights, mostly due to oxygen supply disruptions. Since 2011, lockheed martin has worked on fixing the problems. 1.Sixth Gen Fighters

Air Force One is the official air traffic control call sign of a United States Air Force aircraft carrying the President of the United States. In common parlance the term refers to those Air Force aircraft specifically designed, built, and used for the purpose of transporting the president. The Presidential aircraft is a prominent symbol of the American presidency and its power. The idea of designating specific military aircraft to transport the President arose in 1943, when officials of the United States Army Air Forces -- the predecessor to the U.S. Air Force -- became concerned with relying on commercial airlines to transport the President. A C-87 Liberator Express was reconfigured for use as a presidential transport; however, it was rejected by the Secret Service amid concerns over the aircraft's safety record. A C-54 Skymaster was then converted for presidential use; this aircraft, dubbed the Sacred Cow, transported President Franklin D. Roosevelt to the Yalta Conference in February 1945, and was subsequently used for another two years by President Harry S. Truman. The "Air Force One" call sign was created after a 1953 incident during which a flight carrying President Dwight D. Eisenhower entered the same airspace as a commercial airline flight using the same call sign. Several aircraft have been used as Air Force One since the creation of the presidential fleet, including two Boeing 707s introduced in the 1960s and 1970s, respectively; since 1990, the presidential fleet has consisted of two Boeing VC-25As -- specifically configured, highly customized Boeing 747-200B series aircraft. The Air Force is looking into replacing the two VC-25 aircraft with three replacement aircraft beginning in 2017. Text from: Wikipedia Credits to: National Geographic

Here is a video about India's Secret MiG-25 Foxbat which flew faster than Mach 2 over Pakistani territory following a reconnaissance mission into Pakistan airspace & also will Explain about How Was Indian Air Force Able to Guard the Secret about MIG25 Foxbat? - Mig-25 Foxbat : The MiG-25 Foxbat can be described as a legend shrouded in darkness and secrecy. The MiG-25 serving in the IAF retired from active service in 2006 . This magnificent aircraft was acquired around 1981 with the 102 Trisonics and stationed in Bareilly. The IAF had around eight single seat and two twin seat MiG 25’s in service, and they were the MiG 25 R, the reconnaissance version. - IAF MiG-25 Foxbat Over Pakistan : In May (1997), an Indian Air Force (IAF) Mikoyan MiG-25RB Foxbat-B Reconnaissance aircraft created a furore when the pilot flew faster than Mach 2 over Pakistani territory following a reconnaissance mission into Pakistan airspace. The Foxbat broke the sound barrier while flying at an altitude of around 65,000 feet, otherwise the mission would have remained cover, at least to the general public. The Pakistani Government considered the breaking of sound barrier as deliberate to make the point that Pakistani Airforce (PAF) has no aircraft in its inventory which can come close to the cruising height of MiG-25 ( up to 74,000 feet ). - MiG-25 Foxbat Secrecy : The MiG 25 aircraft were flown in dismantled condition to their base in Bareilly, in Antonov aircrafts which led western analysts to believe the Antonov as huge acquisition. The base for the MiG25 was located in Bareilly, an other wise not a location one can think for a secret aircraft. This aircraft got the IAF in the Mach 3 club. It’s pilots had to don a Cumbersome pressure suit and a helmet a bit similar to Russian cosmonaut’s. ► Indian Military Base - Top 5 Secret Military & Air Bases Of India, Watch Here : https://youtu.be/Fcl0Dxo3VTU ⭐For More Defence News & Updates, Visit ► https://www.defencexp.com/⭐ Hello Defence Lovers, Defence Gyaan Series ke is episode No. 174 mai humne apko Secret MiG-25 Foxbat Jo ki Pakistan Ke andar jaake Mission ko complete krke bina detect huwe aaya tha isi ki story ke baare mai baataya hai, Hume Umeed hai ki apko yeh episode pasand ayega. An interesting documentary about the world famous US Air Force bone yard for surplus or out dated aircraft. Davis–Monthan Air Force Base (DM AFB) (IATA: DMA, ICAO: KDMA, FAA LID: DMA) is a United States Air Force base located within the city limits approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) south-southeast of downtown Tucson, Arizona. It was established in 1925 as Davis-Monthan Landing Field. The host unit headquartered at Davis–Monthan is the 355th Fighter Wing assigned to Twelfth Air Force, part of Air Combat Command (ACC). The base is best known as the location of the Air Force Materiel Command's 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG), the aircraft boneyard for all excess military and government aircraft. Overview Davis–Monthan Air Force Base is a key ACC installation. The 355th Fighter Wing (355 FW) is the host unit, providing medical, logistical, mission and operational support to all assigned units. This wing's combat mission is providing A-10 Thunderbolt II close air support and OA-10 forward air controllers to ground forces worldwide. The 355 FW provides initial and recurrent training to all U.S. Air Force A-10, OA-10 and EC-130 pilots and crews. The 355th is also the ACC's executive agent for INF and START treaty compliance. One of the wing's tenant units, the 55th Electronic Combat Group, is tasked to provide command, control and communications countermeasures in support of tactical forces with its EC-130H aircraft; and, employing the EC-130E aircraft, provide airborne command, control and communications capabilities for managing tactical air operations in war and other contingencies worldwide. Two other major tenants, the 563rd Rescue Group (structured under the 23d Wing, Moody Air Force Base) and 943rd Rescue Group (structured under the 920th Rescue Wing, Patrick Air Force Base), are tasked to provide combat search and rescue support worldwide. As the location of the Air Force Materiel Command's 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG), Davis–Monthan Air Force Base is the sole aircraft boneyard for excess military and government aircraft. Tucson's dry climate and alkali soil made it an ideal location for aircraft storage and preservation. History The base was named in honor of World War I pilots Lieutenants Samuel H. Davis (1896–1921) and Oscar Monthan (1885–1924), both Tucson natives. Davis, who attended the University of Arizona prior to enlisting in the Army in 1917, died in a Florida aircraft accident in 1921. Monthan enlisted in the Army as a private in 1917, was commissioned as a ground officer in 1918, and later became a pilot; he was killed in the crash of a Martin bomber in Hawaii in 1924. Origins In 1919, the Tucson Chamber of Commerce aviation committee established the nation's first municipally owned airfield at the current site of the Tucson Rodeo Grounds. The rapid increase in aviation activities meant a move in 1927 to the site which is now Davis–Monthan Air Force Base. After the City of Tucson acquired land southeast of town for a runway in 1925, Charles Lindbergh, fresh from his nonstop crossing of the Atlantic Ocean, flew his "Spirit of St. Louis" to Tucson in 1927 to dedicate Davis-Monthan Field, then the largest municipal airport in the United States. Military presence at the field began when Sergeant Simpson relocated his fuel and service operation to the site on 6 October 1927. He kept a log containing names of the field's customers, including Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, Benjamin Foulois, and Jimmy Doolittle. Doolittle, awarded the Medal of Honor for his 1942 Tokyo raid, was the first military customer at the field on 9 October 1927. The combination of civil and military operations worked well until the early 1940s, when military requirements began to require the relocation of civil aviation activities. World War II Davis-Monthan Airport became Tucson Army Air Field in 1940, as the United States prepared for World War II. The first assigned U.S. Army Air Corps units were the 1st Bomb Wing, 41st Bomb Group and 31st Air Base Group, activating on 30 April 1941 with Lieutenant Colonel Ames S. Albro Sr. as commanding officer. In its military role, the base became known as Davis-Monthan Army Air Field on 3 December 1941. Air Corps leaders utilize the airfield, sending Douglas B-18 Bolo, Consolidated B-24 Liberator and Boeing B-29 Superfortress bombers, for training and observation missions. Postwar years With the end of the war, operations at the base came to a virtual standstill. It was then the base was selected as a storage site for hundreds of decommissioned aircraft, with the activation of the 4105th Army Air Force Unit. The 4105th oversaw the storage of excess B-29s and C-47 "Gooney Birds." Tucson's low humidity and alkali soil made it an ideal location for aircraft storage and preservation, awaiting cannibalization or possible reuse — a mission that has continued to this day. Cold War

United States AC-130 air operations at a secret location. The AC-130 is manufactured by Lockheed Martin, and Boeing is responsible for the conversion into its current technology, being a long-endurance ground-support variant of the C-130 Hercules transport aircraft. Its very tough and is computer-controlled/assist on the wide array of anti-ground oriented delivery that are integrated with sophisticated sensors, navigation, and control systems. The AC-130 relies on visual recognition, lasers and or triangulation using various forms of data. Because its large profile and low operating altitudes (around 7,000 ft) make it vulnerable, it usually flies close air support missions at night, and can commonly engage multiple ground units 6 miles away with decisive accuracy.

The US Navy says that its version of the F-35 fighter jet is now ready for combat. After more than two decades of testing and development, the service announced Thursday that the advanced aircraft has achieved Initial Operating Capability, meaning it passed the proper tests to be flown on missions. Thursday's announcement comes shortly after the first squadron of Navy F-35s completed aircraft carrier qualifications aboard USS Carl Vinson. "The F-35C is ready for operations, ready for combat and ready to win," said Vice Admiral DeWolfe Miller, commander of Naval Air Forces. "We are adding an incredible weapon system into the arsenal of our Carrier Strike Groups that significantly enhances the capability of the joint force."
