We explore the incredible island of Vis, Croatia. Vis is in the Adriatic Sea, not far from Hvar Island. We stay in Vis town and explore the two sides of the town, Kut and Luka. We also rent bikes and head to the Grandovac beach where we go swimming, afterwards we grab some ice cream. In the evening we visit a restaurant called Lola where we have some fantastic local white wine and a delicious dinner. ------------------ SUBSCRIBE! - http://bit.ly/1M4etCO ------------------ The town of Vis: The town of Vis is located in the north-eastern part of the island Vis in the bottom of a well protected bay. It developed from the former settlements Kut and Luka, which became one entity in the 16th century by the building of the church Gospa od Spilica. The villages from the eastern side of the island such as: Zenka, Milna, Bargujac, Podstražje, Podselje, Plisko Polje and Marine Zemlje gravitate to the town. Since the World War II the whole island had been a military area. The tourism on Vis began to develop significantly with the demilitarisation of the island at the beginning of the war (1991-1995) in Croatia. So, it has been only 15 years ago that both the island and its town opened for the visit of tourists. The remains of the military objects in the northwest and northeast part of the Bay of Vis are the witnesses of the stay of the Yugoslav Army. During the last hundred years a part of the population emigrated in the search for better living conditions. There are only about 2000 people living in the town of Vis, and around 3500 on the whole island. Many visitors, and especially the yachtsmen, are coming more and more to Vis. In every moment you can see changes in life-style, but at the same time Vis has kept the old, irresistible Mediterranean charm and life without stress and trouble. The fortresses and the stony piles testify to the thousand-year-old settlement on Vis, and the remains of a theatre built into the foundations of the Franciscan monastery on the peninsula Prirovo, antique therms or the Hellenistic cemetery, confirm that Vis is one of the oldest urban centres in Croatia. Places featured: Grandovac Beach: https://goo.gl/uV7T8U Grandovac is the closest beach to the village of Kut. It is an easy twenty minute walk on a flat path that takes you along the waterfront, past some of the old stone homes in the village and then past newer homes that have been built since the island allowed people to return. Towards the end of the walk, you will see the old abandoned Czech Villa, once a glorious building but now completely ruined inside. Don’t forget to look at the street art on the abandoned building on the right just before the villa. Lola Restaurant: https://goo.gl/AeCrXs Named after their daughter, this restaurant combines the personal touch (ingredients home-grown by the chef’s parents, individual furnishings handpicked by the couple from around Europe) with very well executed dishes. Everything about this restaurant has been done with consideration and love, and as a result within the first week of opening, customers who discovered Lola quickly got addicted and made return trips, such that Lola’s first Saturday night was already spilling with customers. The second part of the journey from Croatia goes from the island of Vis to Dubrovnik. At the time of communist Yugoslavia, but also long before, Vis was restricted due to its excellent strategic position. Also Tito's partisan army had its headquarters in a cave in Mount Hum. The waters around Vis count to the most fishy of the Adriatic. Far above its regional boundaries, however, Vis is neither known for its wine nor for the rich fish rich in the sea. The Blue Grotto of Bisevo is the main reason for many tourists coming from Split or from the surrounding islands. Makarska is the most famous tourist resort on the Croatian Riviera. After the war in Croatia in the 1990s, the city was modernized with great effort. The historic old town experienced an addition to new hotels, restaurants and shops. With an area of 396 square kilometers, Brac is the third largest island of the Adriatic and the largest of Croatia. The "goldene Horn", a sandhorn about 300 m long, is the tourist landmark. However, Brac is known worldwide, especially among the handworkers. The white house in Washington / USA was built from the snow-white Bracer limestone. Another important place is the island of Korcula. The parents of Marco Polo, the most important seafarer of European history, lived here. Whether her famous son was born here, is not handed down. Highlight of this part of the trip to Croatia is the visit of the city of Dubrovnik, the city of churches and monasteries.

Adriatic in Croatia - the most beautiful sea coast in the word Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/goran_safarek/ and Facebook https://www.facebook.com/safarekfilms/ Croatia's extraordinary island-speckled coastline is indisputably its main attraction. The first thing that strikes you is the clarity of the water. When it's set against a dazzling white pebbly beach, it sparkles with a jewel-like intensity in shades of emerald and sapphire. There are long sandy and shingly stretches too – perfect for lazy days spent lounging and devouring trashy holiday novels. If that all sounds too relaxing, there are myriad water-based activities at hand to lure you off your sun-lounger – snorkelling, diving, kayaking, windsurfing and sailing, just for starters. Jukin Media Verified (Original) * For licensing / permission to use: Contact - licensing(at)jukinmediadotcom According to Wikipedia... The Sea organ (Croatian: Morske orgulje) is an architectural object located in Zadar, Croatia and an experimental musical instrument which plays music by way of sea waves and tubes located underneath a set of large marble steps. Chaotic reconstruction work undertaken in an attempt to repair the devastation Zadar suffered in the Second World War, which turned much of the sea front into an unbroken, monotonous concrete wall. The waves create somewhat random but harmonic sounds. The device was made by the architect Nikola Bašić as part of the project to redesign the new city coast (Nova riva), and the site was opened to the public on 15 April 2005. The Sea Organ has drawn tourists and locals alike. In addition, white marble steps leading down to the water were built later. Concealed under these steps, which both protect and invite, is a system of polyethylene tubes and a resonating cavity that turns the site into a large musical instrument, played by the wind and the sea. In 2006, the Sea Organ was awarded with the prize ex-aequo of the fourth edition of the European Prize for Urban Public Space.

Split, Croatia is one of my favorite cities in the world. It's on the coast of Croatia, the Dalmatian Coast. The place is like a fantasy, and most of the time you'll be walking within the walls of an ancient Roman palace. Step outside of it and you're right next to sapphire blue waters. Take a stroll up a nearby hill and see the whole city with a coastal mountain backdrop, orange rooftops, and a perfect setup along the coast. Split is unique. Take a tour of this city with us today as we take you through Diocletian's Palace, some Croatian beaches, Croatian street food, and more. Spit, Croatia is the Croatian city that needs to be on your radar. ❤️ SUPPORT THIS CHANNEL https://www.patreon.com/Travelbum 🔹 TRAVELBUM STORE ON AMAZON https://www.amazon.com/shop/alexandertravelbum ◾ MY CAMERA GEAR - My Camera: http://amzn.to/2xdUBes - My Main Lens: http://amzn.to/2irNbBb - My Camera Microphone: http://amzn.to/2wzs7Pl - Camera Strap: http://amzn.to/2s0abdq - Memory Card Case: http://amzn.to/2sjgU31 - Ape Camera Case : http://amzn.to/2yjrPds - My Military-style backpack: http://amzn.to/2wzCOkP - My drone: http://amzn.to/2xNjfmx| - Polaroid Camera : https://amzn.to/2Lfqj1t 🔸 MY FAVORITE TRAVEL GEAR - Best Travel Underwear : http://amzn.to/2z6UAsO - My Passport Wallet : https://amzn.to/2N8IMNS - Best Backpacking Backpack : http://amzn.to/2yizU23 - My Beloved Hat: http://amzn.to/2s0aDs8 - Favorite Travel Book : http://amzn.to/2z6Vw0i - My Traveling Daypack : https://amzn.to/2JhxtAs - Water Purifying Bottle : https://amzn.to/2NKsH28 - Banana Holder : https://amzn.to/2uu8pAS - Scuba Dive GoPro Case : https://amzn.to/2N8IMNS 🔹 MY SHOP AT AMAZON https://www.amazon.com/shop/alexandertravelbum ◾ GET $25 OFF YOUR AIRBNB! www.airbnb.com/c/alexs3133 🔺 JOIN COUCHSURFING http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-8856870-12868296 ◾ WEBSITE https://www.alexandertravelbum.com/ 🔺 USE TUBEBUDDY (IF YOU ARE A YOUTUBER) https://www.tubebuddy.com/travelbum ◾ GET 20% OFF TRUSTED HOUSESITTERS https://www.trustedhousesitters.com/su/cLLWrXCO or use code: RAF148492 🔸 BOOK YOUR TRAVEL WITH AGODA https://www.agoda.com/partners/partnersearch.aspx?pcs=1&cid=1779405&hl=en ◾ BUSINESS EMAIL [email protected] 🔹 INSTAGRAM - https://www.instagram.com/alexander_travelbum/ 🔹 FACEBOOK - https://www.facebook.com/alexandertravelbum 💛 THANK YOU TO ALL OUR PATRONS. A rich culture and the breathtaking landscapes of the Croatian Mediterranean. This has made Croatia one of the most popular holiday regions of Europe, already at times of the United Yugoslavia. In two episodes Hans Jöchler and his team travel the land of the countless islands and historically meaningful places on the mainland. The film shows impressive landscapes on the mainland and the islands. However it delivers an informative insight into the busy history of a multiethnic nation, which became a full member of the European Union in 2014. This first of two episodes presents well known destinations like Rovinji. Here many traces of the Venetians are to be found which once were rulers of the country. Furthermore the city of Pula and some of the 1242 islands of Croatia stand on the itinerary, such as Cres or Pag. One of the highlights is the visit of the oldest national park of Europe, Paklenica with its impressive gorges and black pine wood. A visit of the former capitol city of Dalmatia, Zadar stands before the boat trip to the Kornati. On Dugi Otok the team puts the heads and the camera under water briefly, to be astonished about the variety of ocean coral species and molluscs at the up to 90 meters deep steep slopes. Finally the team heads on for Riva, one of the most popular tourist destinations of Croatia. This film gives the audience an impression of a country which suffers often from just being seen as a destination for mass tourism. But hardly many people know about its high cultural status proved for example by old sacred buildings or the Artworks and crafts.

Polar kayaking conditions in the Adriatic? I know, probably goes in the same story as talking rabbits and Alice from Wonderland, right? Nope. Cold northern fronts have literally paralyzed Croatia (both land and islands). We took the opportunity to go for our coldest paddle ever. Expect snow, ice flowstones and paddling on minus 5 Celzius.

This video was shot during our regular North Adriatic Sea Kayak adventure in May 2015. We started from our base just south of the amazing medieval town of Rab. We paddled around the southern Cape to the east side, where we found remote pebble beach with amazing views to the mainland and National Park North Velebit. It was time to set our first camp and prepare dinner in our improvised kitchen. Due to the nature of such kayaking trip the whole group soon became involved and helped with cooking and cleaning up. This is the beauty of any expedition trip, everyone is involved and is part of the family. This is especially true for sea kayaking expeditions as kayaks are limited with space and everybody needs to carry something to benefit the whole group. The next day we woke up into a sunny morning, stretched our legs, finished breakfast, cleaned the camp and started kayaking north. First we visited cave Medova buža. To enter the cave you have to jump through the small hole and then climb out. All this is not a problem, but in May the problem was temperature of the water, while it is not a big deal to swim in the sea, the cave is in a shade and the water inside is very cold, but there were few of us who accepted the challenge. After the cave, we visited a bay of Lopar, with its sandy beach, which is one of only a few in Croatia, before moving on to the North side of the island Rab to cross the small channel to the island of Sv. Grgur. Sv. Grgur is one of the two prison islands in Croatia. The other one is even more famous, Goli otok. Prison islands were established in 1949 when Croatia was still a part of Yugoslavia. The prison islands were closed in 1988 and today it is possible to visit and explore the ruins of ex prisons. One can also find around 40 bunkers all over the island and a huge water collector made of stone on top of the island. A nice surprise were deers, that moves totally free all around the island and are not afraid of people, so they came close and we actually fed them directly from our hands just in front of our tents. After this historical lesson, the next morning we continued kayaking towards the biggest Croatian island. To reach island Krk we first paddled to the coast of island Prvič, where we could admire beekeepers at their work. As we reached island Krk, once a blue sky, turned into dark clouds and before we managed to reach our camping site we experienced a decent shower, but the rain was soon over so we could easily set up our camp for the night. Actually, one night turned in to two nights as bura started blowing the next morning and it was too risky for our group to continue. Instead, we hiked to the nearby town, Krk, where we enjoyed "civilization" after a few days and also went for dinner in a restaurant. Like always pizza and a beer tasted even better after such a trip. We had a great time in Krk and the forecast was also promising for the next day. The next morning bura was down and we could continue our adventure, next stop, island Plavnik. Plavnik is a small island between the biggest Croatian islands Krk and Cres. We set our camp on the SW side of this uninhabited island that is today used for hunting. There was a small village once on the island and we went to search for the remains that one can find on top of the island. Besides the ruins, top of the island offered us much more than that. The view from the top is amazing as it is possible to see many surrounding islands and basically you can see the whole route we did, all the way back from island Rab. And seeing the route like this is quite impressive, I must say. In the morning I looked out of my tent and I noticed some company, sheep. Together with warm morning sun and oil-like sea, it was a nice breakfast company. One last kayaking day remained, so we cleaned the camp, packed our sea kayaks and headed towards island Cres. East side of the island Cres offers amazing beaches and some impressive cliffs. And the cliffs were hiding something even more impressive than the cliffs itself, the Griffon Vultures. Island Cres is one of the rear nesting colonies for this species. It was impressive to paddle calm seas, below cliffs while this impressive animal was flying above us with its wingspan of almost 3 meters. After a few amazing days of sea kayaking around and along North Adriatic islands we reached our final destination, beautiful beach just below the town Beli on island Cres. We set our camp and went for a short walk in old oak and chestnut forest in the area called Tramuntana. There we found very interesting things like Roman aqueduct, interesting labyrinths, many abandoned shepherd houses as well as some nice walking and biking trails. Town of Beli is also home of Griffon Vulture rescue center that we were very happy to visit and learn more about this beautiful animal. This object was filmed during a boat trip from the Island of Pag to the main land in Croatia. By accident the film maker discovered the UFO on the left side of the ship and immediately started filming. The shape of the object is unknown to us. But the way it flies and in continuity the way it dives down into the water is familiar to us. Many people who witnessed UFOs before tell us that there are no splashes when they dive into the water. Apparently a source of energy is generated by the UFO prior to the dive. In this video it is noticeable that some kind of blue light is created before it dives into the water. As soon as a UFO enters the water it is called USO (Unidentified Submarine Object). "UFOFilesTV" has finished the project on YouTube. Join me on another one of my unforgettable #mymoorings moments on the water on my seven-day bareboat sailing charter aboard a Moorings 42.3 (Oceanis 41) monohull. This can be your next affordable dream vacation! DM me if you want to experience a vacation of a lifetime. Follow me on Instagram. @jeffmonuszko Our itinerary: Dreaming of clear water, a place full of history, and wine and food to die for, then make your way to Croatia. This 8 day trip was full of history, natural wonders and great food and wine. We flew through London-Heathrow to get to Split, Croatia (there are way more airline options for Split than you would think) and then spent the next 6 days exploring the area by sea. Day 1: BRAC - Veliki Drvenik (Blue Lagoon), Osibuva, Milna Day 2: VIS - Ravnik (Green Cave), Rogacic (submarine tunnel) Day 3: VIS - Bisevo (Blue Cave), Komiza Day 4: HVAR - Stari Grad, Fortica (castle) Day 5: BRAC/SOLTA - Zlatni Rat (Bol), Maslinca (wine tasting) Day 6: SPLIT - Trogir (castle), Krka (water falls) There are hundreds of places to see but we selected what we think are some of the best spots for our first trip. We had some great experiences during the trip thanks to: Wine Tasting and Degustation on Solta: Agroturizam Kastelanac - https://www.agroturizamkastelanac.com Tour of the Blue Cave FROM Komiza, Vi: Alternatura Tourist Agency - https://www.alternatura.hr/blue-cave-... Scooter Rental in Stari Grad: "Park" Scooter Rental - +385 91 536 6108 We drove our way out to Hvar Town to see the Fortica Things here are done a little differently than in the Caribbean.. So here’s a few suggestions for your vacation. 1 - The more hands the better. We suggest at least 3 people onboard to help with the advanced level anchoring and docking. 2 - Arrive by 3pm in the harbours with town quays to ensure your spot. It will cost you $80-100 USD for a monohull. But it’s more convenient than anchoring or picking up a mooring in another bay. Reservations can be made for the Marinas, but they are more expensive. 3- There are plenty of places to eat with REALLY good food and it’s affordable. So enjoy the local food and don’t plan to eat aboard for dinner. 4 - Make sure you bring plenty of cash and exchange it into Kuna - preferably before you get to Split. Most places don’t except Euros (yes, they are part of the EU - but they have their own currency) and there are lots of places that only except cash. There are ATMs available in most cities and at The Moorings Base, but you’ll be charged a transaction fee by your bank. NOTE: Town quays can only be paid for with cash.

In the southern part of Croatia, in the peninsula of Pelješac, one winery is taking their love of wine *deep*—75 feet below the Mediterranean Sea's surface. Wanting to combine his two favorite pastimes, winemaker and scuba diver Edi Bajurin built an underwater winery, with custom cages and secure clay amphora that store the bottles for a year and a half. But why underwater? For Edi, the ocean’s “silence” bestows and blesses wine with a certain richness unlike anything found above ground. For centuries the world's waters have provided food, oil and other resources. Now, winemakers in Croatia are using it to develop its own wine industry as they use underwater cellars to bring a unique taste to their beverages. Croatia has a long wine-making history. The best homegrown red wine grapes in Croatia are called Plavac Mali, which means blue and small in the local language. Edi Bajurin and Ivo Segovic co-founded a winery in Drace, a tiny village located along the southern coast of Croatia. They planted the delicate Plavac Mali grapes on the steep hills along the Adriatic Sea, which is a favorable place for grape cultivation because of its scorching, damp summers and mild winters. The grapes are picked, de-stemmed, squeezed and fermented, and turn into wine with high alcohol and tannin content. The wine made from Plavac Mali grapes tastes of a mixture of blackberries, black cherries, and spices. The winemakers usually store the wine in oak barrels in an underground cellar. After two years, they will select and bottle the wines. The wine bottles will then be sealed in pottery jugs and placed in a secret cellar at the bottom of the sea five kilometers away. The jars are placed on iron shelves 50 meters below the surface of the sea. Bajurin and Segovic started to build their underwater cellars in 2011. They have chosen three places on the seabed for long-term wine storage. The conditions under the surface of the sea creates a perfect environment for wine storage -- constant low temperatures, oxygen-deprativity and zeor ultraviolet light -- keeping the fruity aroma and enriching the complex flavors. "In recent years, I've dived into the sea every 15 days. I check if the shelves are stable and if the jugs are intact, as there are frequent ocean currents here," said Bajurin. After being stored for more than two years in the ocean, the wine will take on an amber tawny color, slowly developing softer flavors for discerning palates. "The flavor is really delicious. It's very smooth, very deep and rich," said a British tourist. The wine aged under the ocean has been certified in the European Union (EU) with patent protection and has become a popular special souvenir for tourists visiting Croatia.More on:http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20161004/8033528.shtml#!language=1 Subscribe us on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CCTVPlus CCTV+ official website: http://www.cctvplus.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cctv-news-content Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NewsContent.CCTVPLUS Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCTV_Plus
