Beautiful Azan in a Church - Muslim call to prayer

03:51
The Call to Prayer(AZAAN) The Azan is uttered in a loud, albeit sweet melodious, voice to announce to the faithful that it is time for the Obligatory Prayer and to invite them to offer the prayers. Those who perform Azan are known as 'Muezzin.' The honour of being the first Muezzin goes to Hazrat Bilal(R.A.), a black slave who converted to Islam. He had a very sweet, resonant and musical voice. He was appointed as Muezzin by the Prophet(peace be upon him) of Islam. The appointment of a black slave as the first person to call Muslims for prayers, shows that in Islam all human beings are treated as equals. Rich or poor, black or white, short or tall - all are equal in the eyes of Allah. It is the piety of each individual that makes the difference. Azan is recited in a loud voice by the Muezzin facing the direction of the Ka'ba in the following words, which are said in the order mentioned: "Allahu Akbar" - recited FOUR times. Meaning, "Allah is the Greatest."(four times) "Ash-hadu an la ilaha ill-Allah" - recited TWO times. Meaning, "I bear witness that there is none worthy of being worshipped except Allah."(twice) "Ash-hadu anna Muhammad-ar-Rasoolullah" - recited TWO times. Meaning, "I bear witness that Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah."(recited twice) "Hayya 'alas-Salah" - recited TWO times. Meaning, "Come to prayer."(turning the face alone to the right and saying it twice) "Hayya 'alal-falah" - recited TWO times. Meaning, "Come to Success."(turning the face alone to the left and saying it twice) "Allahu Akbar" - recited TWO times. Meaning, "Allah is the Greatest" "La-Ilaha Il-Allah"- recited once. Meaning, "There is no other object of worship except Allah."

In The Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Adhān is the first call to prayer. Those who perform Adhān are known as 'Muedhin.' The honour of being the first Muedhin goes to Bilal (ra), a black slave who converted to Islam. He had a very sweet, resonant and musical voice. Meaning, "I bear witness that there is none worthy of being worshipped except Allah."(twice) "Ash-hadu anna Muhammad-ar-Rasoolullah" - recited TWO times. The Evening Call to Prayer in Old City Jerusalem

04:36
***ANY POLITICALLY CHARGED, RACIST, OR DEMEANING COMMENTS WILL BE DELETED. ENJOY THE VIDEO/LOVE JERUSALEM*** This is the evening call to prayer in Old City Jerusalem. The first 30 seconds or so are silence just before the call begins. The repeated words "Allahu akbar" mean, "Allah is the greatest." There are several mosques in the picture, but the most obvious one is just south, almost right in front of me when I pan to the right. By my count, there are at least 6 visible throughout the video. You can tell the mosques by their minarets that are lit up green at night. I am told the Muslims use green because it was the Prophet Muhammad's favorite color according to the Hadith (although I have heard many reasons suggested). I apologize for my occasional sniffles; it was cold. I took this video from the top of the Austrian Hospice. You can enjoy this beautiful view any time of the day; just go to the door and ring the bell. They will let you in. ALSO VISIBLE IN THIS VIDEO: (1) The Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the Christian Quarter. This is the traditional and most likely location of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. Its two blue domes topped with crosses are visible when I pan to the right (at 0:22). (2) The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in the Christian Quarter. This is the tall steeple with windows just to the left of the Holy Sepulchre (at 0:24). You can climb it and get a killer view of the Old City for just a few shekels. (3) The Hurva Synagogue in the Jewish Quarter. Its white dome is lit up to the left of the Holy Sepulchre (at 0:28). (4) The al-Aqsa Mosque. This is the black domed mosque on the southern end of the temple mount. This is the functional mosque on the old Temple Mount complex, called haram esh sharif (the Noble Sanctuary) by Muslims (at 0:33). (5) The Dome of the Rock. This is the golden dome visible when I pan to the left, probably the most well-recognized of any holy site in Jerusalem. This is not a mosque but a memorial. It commemorates the place where Muhammad is said to have been taken into heaven and received the five pillars of Islam. Today it is the third most holy site in Islam (at 0:35). (6) The Mount of Olives. This is the hill visible behind the Dome of the Rock (at 0:40).

The Message - Bilal Giving the 1st Call to Prayer

02:25
This is from the movie " The Message". Bilal ibn Rabah or Bilal al-Habashi (AD 580-640) was an Ethiopian companion of the Prophet Muhammad who was born in Mecca and who is considered as the first muezzin chosen by the prophet himself. I do not own this and you can buy the film by clicking on the link below. http://www.amazon.com/The-Message-30th-Anniversary-Edition/dp/B000AQ6A4E

Islamic Call to Prayer (english translation-subtitles)

03:23
In Muslim countries, the adhan (call to prayer) rings out over the land for each of the five daily prayers. Muslims use the human voice to announce the times of prayer to the community. The Adhan is the call to prayer itself. This call is also pronounced as Athan or Azan. Muslims observe five formal prayers each day. The timings of these prayers are spaced fairly evenly throughout the day, so that one is constantly reminded of God and given opportunities to seek His guidance and forgiveness. Muslims observe the formal prayers at the following times: Fajr (pre-dawn): This prayer starts off the day with the remembrance of God; it is performed before sunrise. Dhuhr (noon): After the day's work has begun, one breaks shortly after noon to again remember God and seek His guidance. 'Asr (afternoon): In the late afternoon, people are usually busy wrapping up the day's work, getting kids home from school, etc. It is an important time to take a few minutes to remember God and the greater meaning of our lives. Maghrib (sunset): Just after the sun goes down, Muslims remember God again as the day begins to come to a close. 'Isha (evening): Before retiring for the night, Muslims again take time to remember God's presence, guidance, mercy, and forgiveness. In Muslim communities, people are reminded of the daily prayer times through the calling of the adhan. For those in Muslim-minority communities, computerized adhan programs are available. Adhan, God's call to prayer, is a tremendously valuable opportunity for us to disconnect from our earthly temptations, temporary rushes and helps us connect with God and assists us to remember and seek a purposeful life in God's righteous way. Call To Prayer (Adhan) in America

04:16
Saqib Ul Islam, Urdu VOA News, Hamtramck.MI The Call to Prayer is a centuries' old tradition in Islam. A prayer is recited five times a day to invite Muslims to pray. It is often broadcast by loud speaker in predominantly Muslim countries, but seldom broadcast in the United States. However, this Islamic tradition created a controversy in Hamtramck, MI where Call to Prayer bill was presented in the city council and it became a law in 2004. Many Hamtramck residents strongly object to the Call to Prayer. While Hamtramck Muslims argue that the call to prayer is equivalent to church bells. In this report Saqib Ul Islam talks to the Hamtramck councilman Shahb Ahmad , who presented this bill and also the city manager William cooper, who describes his experience of working with Muslims in a city with 40 percent Muslim Population.

The Rewards of Reciting Quran We all know from the Quran and the Ahadeeth about the countless rewards and benefits of praying and reciting Quran during the nightly prayers (last one-third of the night) As is stated in the hadeeth narrated by ‘Abd-Allah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas (may Allah be pleased with them both), in which the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever recites ten ayat (verses) in qiyam will not be recorded as one of the forgetful. Whoever recites a hundred ayat (verses) in qiyaam will be recorded as one of the devout, and whoever prays a thousand ayat (verses) in qiyaam will be recorded as one of the muqantareen (those who pile up good deeds).” (Reported by Abu Dawood and Ibn Hibbaan. It is a Hasan report. Saheeh al-Targheeb, 635).” Imaam al-Bukhaari used to pray qiyaam and tahajjud at night until the time of suhoor, and he would read between a half and a third of the Quran, and complete it at suhoor every third night. This hadith proves that people who are not well versed in the Arabic language or have other difficulties in reciting the Quran, get even a higher reward for reciting the Quran in Arabic for their extra effort. ....... emotional quran recitation heart touching quran recitation quran recitation really beautiful quran recitation most beautiful the most beautiful quran recitation quran recitation really beautiful amazing crying recitation really beautiful audio quran recitation really beautiful audio quran recitation really beautiful mp3 quran recitation really beautiful surah baqarah quran recitation really beautiful voice quran recitation really beautiful by child quran recitation really beautiful with english translation The Most Emotional & Soft Quran Recitation Heart Soothing ----------------------------------------------------------------- This video edit is made by TOP QURAN RECITER for educational purposes only. I recorded this from my little camera the day after I went into the city for the first time in early August 2007. Nothing happens, but it helps portray what the environment was like at the time. The outpost I was at was in the west-central part of the city. Note the general lack of vehicular or foot traffic.

The call to prayer (adhān), Marrakech, Morocco

03:33
The amazing experience of the call to prayer (adhān) from the rooftop of our Souk in Marrakech, Morocco - January 2009 "The adhān (Arabic: أَذَان‎ Azan/Ezan [ʔæˈðæːn]) is the Islamic call to prayer, recited by the muezzin at prescribed times of the day. The root of the word is ʼḏn أَذَن meaning "to permit"; another derivative of this word is uḏun, meaning "ear". Adhan is called out by the muezzin in the mosque five times a day, traditionally from a minaret, summoning Muslims for mandatory (fard) prayers (salah). A second call known as iqama (set up) then summons Muslims to line up for the beginning of the prayers. The main purpose behind the multiple loud pronouncements of adhan in every mosque is to make available to everyone an easily intelligible summary of Islamic belief. It is intended to bring to the mind of every believer and non-believer the substance of Islamic beliefs, or its spiritual ideology. In modern times, loudspeakers have been installed on minarets for this purpose."

How To Attend a Muslim Friday Prayer Service (Jum’ah)

03:25
Watch more How to Celebrate Ramadan videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/217206-How-To-Attend-a-Muslim-Friday-Prayer-Service-Jumah Step 1: Find a Friday prayer service Use Muslim acquaintances or a Website to find a Friday prayer service near you. Most are held around lunchtime. Tip Friday prayer services do not always happen in a mosque. University students often arrange Friday prayers in an empty hall or auditorium. Mosques in urban areas host prayers in satellite locations, such as downtown office buildings or even churches. Step 2: Purify your intention As with all acts in Islam, take a quiet moment to purify your intention, affirming that you plan to attend Friday prayers for God’s sake alone. Tip While Friday is usually a holiday in Muslim-majority countries, it’s a regular workday elsewhere, and some men are not able to attend as a result. Do your best to fit Friday prayers into your work schedule. Step 3: Take a shower or bath If you are able and you have time, take a shower or bath on Friday morning, as this practice was recommended by the Prophet Muhammad, who advised his followers to keep clean. Step 4: Dress in clean, modest clothes Dress in clean, modest clothes. For men, this means no shorts. For women, this means covering the arms and legs, avoiding tight or revealing clothing, and bringing along a headscarf. Tip Cologne is recommended for men, but perfume for women should be avoided. Step 5: Remove your shoes When entering the mosque or prayer area, remove your shoes. This is the moment of truth for your socks! Step 6: Enter prayer area with right foot first Enter the prayer area with your right foot first. If the mosque is segregated according to gender, women should enter the women’s area, and men should enter the men’s area. Tip If you have small children, you may prefer to leave them at home. If you need to, however, you can bring them. Children of all ages are a common sight at Friday prayers. If a child is very disruptive, or if a baby can’t stop crying, however, you may have to leave with them. Step 7: Offer voluntary prayer If you are Muslim, offer two cycles of voluntary prayer, known as tahyatul masjid salah, which means literally, 'the prayer to greet the mosque.' Tip If you are not Muslim, take a moment to sit quietly and offer your own prayers. Step 8: Sit next to other congregants on the floor Sit next to other congregants on the floor. Choose the available space closest to the front of the room. In other words, the front rows should be filled first, particularly because the back rows should be left open for latecomers. Step 9: Listen to adhan Listen as a fellow congregant gives the adhan, or call to prayer. This means the Friday prayer service has begun; refrain from talking at this point. Step 10: Sit quietly & listen to imam Sit quietly and listen while the imam, or prayer leader, offers a sermon, or khutbah. The first half the khutbah is the longest, followed by a brief period when the imam will sit down and offer silent prayers. Then he will stand again to deliver the shorter final section of the sermon. Tip A sermon will always open and close with words in Arabic. Hopefully, the language of the sermon itself will be one you understand. If not, be patient and ask someone near you for a translation when it is over. Step 11: Listen to iqaamah After the sermon, a man will stand to give the iqaamah, a shortened version of the call to prayer, which indicates the prayer itself is about to commence. Step 12: Line up shoulder to shoulder Stand up and move so you are standing shoulder to shoulder with the people on your left and right, forming a straight line that faces the qibla, or direction pointing to Mecca. Your shoulders, arms or feet can be lightly touching other people’s. Tip If you are not Muslim, ask someone where you can sit to observe the prayers. Generally, non-Muslims should not join in the prayer. Step 13: Perform salat Perform two cycles of the ritual prayer, or salat, following along with the imam. Step 14: Greet other people When the prayer is over, be sure to greet the people praying on either side of you when they are finished, either by shaking their hands and saying, 'May Allah accept your prayers,' or by simply smiling. Step 15: Make a charitable contribution If you wish, make a charitable contribution as you leave. Boxes for contributions are generally available near the exit. Did You Know? The Prophet Muhammad was known for giving short sermons, but don’t expect everyone to follow that lead—some sermons can last more than an hour.

A Powerful New Documentary Film on the life and teachings of Allama Muhammad Iqbal: Islam's most important spokesman of the 20th Century. Available to RENT or DOWNLOAD online NOW: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/message Official Selection Beirut International Film Festival 2010 Official Selection Muslim Fest 2010 Official Selection Salaam Film Festival 2010 Official Selection Fargo Film Festival 2010 Official Selection Mammoth Film Festival 2009 A Message from the East is an inspirational film about the life and work of Muhammad Iqbal, the national poet of Pakistan. A crew of 10 Chicago Filmmakers traveled from Germany, Dubai, Pakistan, Turkey, Spain, Canada, and parts of the United States to retrace the steps and thoughts of the most inspiring Muslim Poet of the 20th Century. This film seeks to answer the misunderstood question: "Where are the moderate Muslims?" and it decisively shows us they are here, their voices are strong, and they have been with us for quite some time. Muhammad Iqbal was a man who understood the nature of contradiction and the necessity of balancing the converging forces in our lives. An inspiration to the people of the subcontinent and an advocate of cultural understanding and peace, Iqbal was instrumental in the stages leading up to the Partition of India and the Creation of Pakistan. A poet, philosopher, lawyer, and a political activist, Iqbal spoke of the power we have as individuals to strengthen ourselves and our communities through respect for the cultural other and by being engaged with the present moment. Through the inspiration of the 13th Century Mystical Poet Rumi from Turkey, Iqbal believed the problems of his own time would not be solved unless we had a greater understanding of ourselves. It is our responsibility to be actively involved in our own communities and co-creators of the world we wish to see. In order for us to understand the current situation in Pakistan and Afghanistan and the rising paranoia of Radical Extremism we need to look at this critical point of history to understand those who where concerned with these same issues 100 years ago. In a post-9/11 world that is rampant with paranoia and cultural misconceptions it is now more important than ever to embrace those elements which unite us as people rather than to focus on the differences which divide us. The greatest problems of the 21st Century have little to do with radical extremism and everything to do with our perceptions of ourselves and each other. The message of Iqbal is a strikingly contemporary one which encourages us to overcome our suspicions and doubts. Ahead of his time, he understood Einstein's Theory of Relativity as a vehicle to bridge the differences between Religion and Science. Iqbal will go down in history as a Revolutionary Thinker who spoke for the freedom and dignity of all people. The basis of Iqbal's message is clearly represented in his 1938 New Years Address shortly before his death: "Only one unity is dependable and that unity is the brotherhood of man, which is above race, nationality, color or language. So long as this so-called democracy, this accursed Nationalism, and this degraded imperialism are not shattered, so long as men do not demonstrate by their actions that they believe that the whole world is the family of God, so long as distinctions of race, color and geographical nationalities are not wiped out completely, they will never be able to lead a happy and contented life and the beautiful ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity will never materialize." - Allama Muhammad Iqbal
