https://www.expedia.com/Cape-Town.d6046820.Destination-Travel-Guides Cape Town sits on South Africa’s Cape Peninsula, where the waters of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans converge. Begin your adventure at The Castle of Good Hope, the centerpoint from which the city grew. Nearby you’ll find Company’s Garden, the Parliament Building, and the South African Museum. Don’t miss the District Six Museum, which gives voice to the 60,000 non-white residents who saw their vibrant multi-racial neighborhood flattened during the darkest days of the Apartheid era. One neighborhood that was spared from apartheid’s wrecking ball is Bo-Kaap, where traditional Cape Malay culture continues amid the row houses of this colorful hillside suburb. Visit the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, and explore attractions such as Two Oceans Aquarium. The waterfront is also the gateway to one of the world’s most infamous prisons, Robben Island. Table Mountain is Cape Town’s most beloved landmark. From the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, take a walking trail up the mountain, or take the Cableway for the spectacular ride to the viewing area. Cape Town is one of the world’s great beach cities. From Green Point, the site of Cape Town’s futuristic stadium, follow the coast and discover one incredible beach after another. Cape Town’s riches don’t end with its beaches, it’s also blessed with some of the best wine country in the world. After touring the acclaimed wineries of Paarl and Stellenbosch, head up Franschhoek Pass and wander hillsides filled with Proteas. In local tradition, the Protea represents transformation, courage and hope. Cape Town is a city which shares the same soil, so it’s not surprising that it embodies those same qualities too.

Africa Safaris and travel 2016 - Botswana, Zimbabwe & Zambia

08:47
African Safaris and travel 2016 - Botswana, Zimbabwe & Zambia - Africa trip 2016 Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube Africa has 54 sovereign countries—the most on any continent—and is the second largest continent in terms of both land area and population. Africa is bounded by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, by the Red Sea to the northeast, and by the Indian Ocean to the southeast. Africa is a vast continent spanning over 8,000km (5,000 mi) north to south and 7,500km (4,800 mi) east to west (not including islands) and contains a wide array of peoples, skin colours, religions, and cultures. Africa contains the world's longest river—the 6,650km long (4,100 mi) Nile River running from Burundi to Egypt—while the Congo River in the DRC is the second largest in terms of discharge as well as the deepest with a depth of over 230m (750 ft) in some spots. Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro is the world's tallest free-standing mountain at 5,890m (19,340 ft). Djibouti's Lake Assal is the second lowest point on Earth, the saltiest lake outside Antarctica, and one of the hottest places on Earth. While the first activity most people associate with Africa is safaris, there are endless possibilities for adventure. You can purchase crafts in markets, venture into the Sahara with a Tuareg caravan, visit pygmy villages, hike through jungle to watch gorillas, relax on tropical islands in the Indian Ocean, snack on exotic treats, travel down a river in a dugout "pirogue", travel across savannah on a colonial-era railway, and much more. Africa is a very diverse continent, with each country, or even each part of a country having its own unique culture. While it is common for people in the West to refer to Africa as if it was a single country, one should remember the sheer size of the continent, and that Africa is not one country but 54 different countries, meaning that it is impossible to make generalisations of Africa as a whole. Tragically misunderstood by many people as a land of poverty, corruption, war and famine, and simply as a land of suffering—a misconception only bolstered by the media and the numerous NGOs on the continent—Africa today is a vast continent with many bustling metropolises, friendly people, and amazingly diverse and beautiful landscapes. While there are some places resembling the stereotypical Africa of war, famine, and poverty, most of the continent is peaceful, well-fed, and of working class . See ========= Flora & Fauna ========== Many visitors are attracted by the African flora and fauna and several countries benefit from Safari tourism to African National Parks. Natural Wonders Africa is home to many famous natural wonders, from the Nile River, the world's longest river, to Victoria Falls. The continent is home to two of the world's four volcanoes with permanent lava lakes—the dramatic Mount Nyiragongo which rises hundreds of metres above Goma, DRC and Erta Ale in Ethiopia's stark Danakil Depression (the others are Mt.Erebus in Antarctica & Kilauea in Hawaii). Both volcanoes can be climbed by the adventurous tourist to stand at the rim gazing in awe at the bubbling lava below, an especially incredible sight at night! Landscapes ============ Historical civilizations While the continent's diverse and unique wildlife is often all that is mentioned in regards to African travel, as home to the oldest civilizations on the planet, Africa has equally impressive cultures and history. The most famous civilization on the continent, and arguably in the world, is that of ancient Egypt. From the southern city of Abu Simbel to Luxor and all the way north to Alexandria and Cairo, including the Pyramids of Giza, the only surviving of the original Seven Wonders of the World and the most iconic symbols of this ancient kingdom. Sites from the Nubian-Kushite Kingdom that broke away from Egypt can be found in Sudan, such as Gebel Barkal and many other pyramids in Meroe. Ethiopia offers many ruins from the ancient Axumite Kingdom where the Queen of Sheba ruled. The obelisks and Dungur ruins in Axum were built prior to the kingdom's conversion to Christianity, while many other great monuments, such as the Ezana Stone and the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion, where the Arc of the Covenant is said to be stored, were built after the conversion as religious sites. Other famous Christian structures built later by the kingdom's successor, the Abyssinian Empire, especially during the 12th and 13th centuries, can also be found in Lalibela.

South Africa Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination South-Africa. Johannesburg is the commercial centre of South Africa. Since gold was first discovered there, everything has revolved around money and from the 50th floor of Africa’s tallest building, The Carlton Towers, there is an all-engulfing view of the city’s narrow streets and jungle of concrete and glass. The African Museum is a contemporary building and one of South Africa’s most exquisite landmarks, it contains a large variety of geological exhibits and detailed accounts of the city’s past surface mining that gave rise to the country’s massive gold rush. The resistance to apartheid is also illustrated, as well as the history of Africa’s native inhabitants who journeyed from present day Botswana to the south of the country. In contrast to Johannesburg, Pretoria grew at a calmer pace and has developed from a Boer farming municipality into South Africa’s administrative capital. Located on a hill is the Vortrekker Monument that is a reminder of the Boers’ Great Trek and, in 1830, the crucial battle in which they defeated the Zulus. Sun City is a magnificent fantasy world full of African ambience and the Sun City Hotel is the casino that made Sol Kerzner the richest man in South Africa, whereas the futuristic Cascades Hotel derived its name from its wonderful setting of waterfalls, pools and lush plant life. The route travels northeast over the misty and one time heavily defended Drakens Mountains in the direction of the Kruger Park that extends along the border with Mosambique. From Kruger, the journey continues across Swaziland and Kwazulu Natal to Port Elizabeth on the Indian Ocean’s south coast. Along the rocky coastline a road leads to the southernmost tip of Africa, the Cape Of Good Hope. For those lucky enough to experience it, the drive on the spectacular mountain road around the Cape is an amazing adventure. One of the many natural wonders of this unique land that unites European influence with African pride. -------------- Watch more travel videos ► https://goo.gl/MXPgSs Join us. Kalahari Desert (South Africa) Vacation Travel Video Guide

09:36
Travel video about destination Kalahari Dessert in South Africa. In southern Africa is a unique and gigantic desert, the Kalahari. But it is far more than just a desert. Due to its numerous trees and grassy vegetation zones the Kalahari looks more like a large and dry savannah. Geographically the Kalahari extends into a total of nine countries. In the north it stretches as far as Angola and Zambia. But the largest region of the Kalahari is in Botswana, one of the most sparsely inhabited areas in the world. Few animals are able to survive in this part of the world. The Kalahari has its own strict rules and those who do not obey will not survive here for very long. Due to its size the ostrich is the most striking creature in this region and it is also the largest bird in the world. Despite its harsh environment the Kalahari is also the home of an ancient African tribe, the San. The San people are known as Bushmen and although their tribal name has a racist background they are one of the oldest ethnic groups in the world. For twenty five thousand years the San have lived in complete harmony with nature within this hostile looking desert in the south of the African continent. The Kalahari is far more than just a large desert in Southern Africa. With its huge variety of fascinating wildlife and magnificent landscapes it is a unique world all of its own! -------------- Watch more travel videos ► https://goo.gl/MXPgSs Join us. Garden Route HD - South Africa Travel Channel 24

The Garden Route is a popular and scenic stretch of the south-eastern coast of South Africa. It stretches from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape to the Storms River which is crossed along the N2 coastal highway over the Paul Sauer Bridge in the extreme western reach of the neighbouring Eastern Cape. The name comes from the verdant and ecologically diverse vegetation encountered here and the numerous lagoons and lakes dotted along the coast. It includes towns such as Mossel Bay, Knysna, Oudtshoorn, Plettenberg Bay and Nature's Valley; with George, the Garden Route's largest city and main administrative centre. South Africa tourism packages 2017 4K

07:50
South Africa Travel Vlog 4K, South Africa Travel Guide, South Africa tourism packages 2017 Travel Vlog 4K https://goo.gl/HzFhA4 South Africa is located at the southern tip of Africa. It is bordered by Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho (which is completely surrounded by South Africa). It is a vast country with widely varying landscapes and has 11 official languages, as well as an equally diverse population. South Africa is renowned for its wines and is one of the world's largest producers of gold. South Africa has the strongest economy in Africa, and is an influential player in African politics. In 2010, South Africa hosted the first Football World Cup to be held on the African continent. If you want to travel in southern Africa then South Africa is a good place to start. While you can fly into any country in southern Africa, most flights will route through South Africa anyway. South Africa is also a good place to get used to travelling in the region (though some would argue that Namibia is better for that). Of course South Africa is not only a jumping off point, it is itself a superb destination rich in culture, fauna & flora and history. Outsiders' views of South Africa are coloured by the same stereotypes as the rest of Africa. Contrary to popular belief, South Africa is not devastatingly poor with an unstable government. South Africa is to a large extent two countries within one . On the one hand it is a first world state, especially the major cities such as Cape Town and Johannesburg, and on the other hand it is under-developed and has large scale poverty. South Africa is one of the most unequal countries in the world where opulence and severe poverty can often be observed together. The rural part of South Africa remains among the poorest and the least developed parts of the world and poverty in the townships can be appalling, progress is being made. The process of recovering from apartheid, which lasted almost 46 years, is quite slow. In fact, South Africa's United Nations Human Development Index which was slowly improving in the final years of apartheid, has declined dramatically since 1996, largely due to the AIDS pandemic, and poverty levels appear to be on the increase. South Africa boasts a well-developed infrastructure and has all the modern amenities and technologies, much of it developed during the years of white minority rule. Lately, white farm owners have come under attack by mobs of blacks after they were disarmed by the government. A wave of violent crime against any whites has engulfed the country and caution is recommended. 20 Things to do in Stellenbosch, South Africa Travel Guide

19:41
Join us as we visit Stellenbosch, South Africa showcasing the best things to do in Stellenbosch in this travel guide to the Cape Winelands region of the Western Cape. Our focus was of course touring around world class vineyards and wine farms in and around Stellenbosch; however, we also covered some of best outdoor activities and cultural experiences such as going on a vineyard segway tour, wine safari, visiting a township and eating a local Xhosa meal. Stellenbosch town has numerous attractions worth visiting and a wonderful cafe, restaurant and nightlife scene. Fortunately, we had a chance to explore on foot and bicycle to see a different side of town. Overall, our Stellenbosch travel guide covers sipping wine, gourmet eating and fun activities for couples, friends and/or families. 20 Things to do in Stellenbosch Travel Guide Playlist: Intro to Stellenbosch, South Africa - 00:01 1) Cape Malay Dinner with wine and cupcakes at Delheim - 00:50 2) Wine and Fudge Pairing at Avontuur Estate - 01:12 3) Lunch at Blaauwklippen Family Market - 02:35 4) Braai and Wine Blending at Middelvlei Wine Estate - 04:08 5) Segway tour at Spier Wine Farm - 05:28 6) Lunch at Hoghouse BBQ & Bakery on Spier Wine Farm - 06:51 7) Walking Tour of Stellenbosch, South Africa - 07:11 8) Wine safari at Jordan Wines - 07:32 9) Kayamandi Township Tour - 08:46 10) Traditional Xhosa Meal - 09:16 11) Music and Drinks at Rebellion Courtyard Cafe - 10:03 12) Hiking in Jonkershoek Nature Reserve - 10:25 13) Biking tour of Stellenbosch, Cape Winelands - 11:20 14) Lunch at Lanzerac Wine Estate - 11:28 15) Vinegar tasting at Rozendal Farm - 11:41 16) Dinner at Delaire Graff Estate - 13:22 17) Brandy Tasting at Van Ryn - 13:39 18) Olive oil Tasting and Brunch at Tokara - 14:31 19) Sidecar tour of Stellenbosch, South Africa - 14:54 20) Lunch at The Bus Stop - 15:58 Outro to Stellenbosch, Western Cape - 19:11 Our visit Stellenbosch travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a wine and food guide (best vineyards, farms, restaurants and food in the region), top adventure recreation and the city by day and night. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Stellenbosch tourism brochure or Stellenbosch, South Africa city tour. Things to do in Stellenbosch, South Africa Travel Guide Video Transcript: On our very first trip to South Africa we spent one day in Stellenbosch where we did a wine tour and hit up a total of 5 wineries. It was an action packed day but we knew we had only seen a fraction of what this place has to offer and we were itching to return! Fast forward two years, and we found ourselves with an invitation to come and experience Stellenbosch, this time with a week to spare. Naturally we said yes! This being the winelands meant that our itinerary was wine heavy, but we also got to see sample the food, visit the markets, check out the nightlife and get close to nature. The following is our travel guide to Stellenbosch, pour yourself a glass of wine, sit back, and join us on this ride! In between all the feasting and vineyard hopping, we also found a bit of time to explore Stellenbosch itself. Stellenbosch is a charming town located in the Western Cape, and it’s the second oldest European settlement in the province after Cape Town. The streets are lined with oak trees, the buildings are all painted white, and you have a cool mix of Early Cape, Cape Dutch, and Victorian architecture. And while Sam was off hiking, I did a biking tour of Stellenbosch with the Adventure Shop, where I learned a bit more about the town’s history, and got out in nature, before biking over to the Lanzerac Wine Estate where we met up with the group again. Here we had a light lunch featuring a spread of cheese, deli meats, fresh fruits, and of course, wine! And just like that our week in Stellenbosch was over! I think it’s fair to say that we left a few pounds heavier, but with a newfound appreciation for South African wine and a taste of what the winelands have to offer. As always, we hope you enjoyed this travel guide and that it gave you a few ideas of things to do in Stellenbosch. If you have any other suggestions of cool things to see, eat, or experience, feel free to share those with travellers in the comments below. In the meantime we wish you happy travels and we’ll see you in Cape Town on our next video! This is part of our Travel in South Africa video series showcasing South African food, South African culture, South African wine and South African cuisine. Cape to Namibia route HD - South Africa Travel Channel 24

27:50
Magnificent mountains, unique fynbos vegetation, glorious seascapes, wetlands, vineyards, golden fields, citrus orchards, semi-desert, half a dozen nature conservation areas and the extraordinary bloom of wild flowers in spring - there is much to discover on the South African side of the Cape to Namibia route. There is plenty to do, too: water sports, hiking, 4x4 trails, quad biking, horse riding, bird watching. And each of the little hamlets and villages has its history and cultural heritage and a story to tell. There is much to learn about the early inhabitants who left their mark with rock paintings, the pioneers, the missionaries and not least the adventurers who endured great hardship in their quest to strike it rich. You Won't Believe WHAT BrooklynAndBailey Saw on thier Safari! | Behind the Braid Ep.27

15:51
For Spring Break this year, we took the four older kids to South Africa, to experience Cape Town and to spend a few days in the African Bush on Safari! Click to see all the animals we saw, LITERALLY RIGHT NEXT TO US!!! Listen to BrooklynAndBailey's "DANCE LIKE ME" single HERE! https://brooklynandbailey.lnk.to/DanceLikeMe Enter BrooklynAndBailey's 13" MacBook Air + Wireless Projector GIVEAWAY, here! http://www.cutegirlshairstyles.com/musicgiveaway Out trip first took us to Cape Town where we spent several days touring the city, summiting Table Mountain, visiting a penguin reserve, great white shark diving, and eating amazing food! We take you with us on all these adventures, including swimming with Great White Sharks!!! Would you do it? We then flew to Johannesburg where we drove for two hours to the What Kruger National Park, a game reserve of 435,000 acres of natural African habitat. We stayed at the Black Rhino Lodge, for three days worth of safari where we saw plenty of elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffe, zebras, ostrich, impala, foxes, hyenas, wart hogs, monkeys, hippos, rhinos, etc! Only 20 minutes into our first drive, we saw a 12' black mamba cross the road right in front of us! (The black mamba is Africa's most poisonous snake!) While we were there, we carried with us 50 pounds of school supplies that BrooklynAndBailey wanted to donate to a local school there. Come along with us as we drop off the supplies! Meanwhile, back at home Dax & Paisley (who are still too young to adjust well to the 9 hour time difference) stayed home with a family friend and had a lot of fun with the activities we had planned for them. They had so much fun going to the zoo and seeing the same animals we were seeing, too! Shaun brought home a petrified shark tooth for Daxton and he LOVED it! The twins bought Paisley a toy giraffe. We have to say, experiencing the safari the way we did was simply breathtaking! We observed all the animals in their natural habitat, and many of them walked right by in front of us! South Africa was even better than we had imagined, IT WAS SO AMAZING! We can't wait to go back again! What was your favorite part of our South African Safari vlog? Would you like to go on a safari? First Time In Africa: Ep 2 - Backpacking in Botswana & Zambia

49:23
My first trip to Africa was a 5 week adventure through South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia. captured in this travel documentary. This second episode sees me continue my G Adventures Tour towards Victoria falls. My journey continues in Ghanzi learning the traditional ways of the bushmen. Driving along the "elephant highway" we then explore Okavango Delta by scenic flight and boat. At Chobe River National Park we go on a sunset boat cruise and find ourselves surrounded by wildlife. The journey finishes at Victoria Falls in Zambia. Here I have an action packed week of white water rafting, helicopter rides and bungee jumping. --------------------- Watch more films --------------------- SUBSCRIBE to my channel: http://bit.ly/KarlWatsonTravelDocs Visit website: http://www.karlwatson.net --------------------- Social Media --------------------------- Facebook: http://fb.com/karlwatsondocs Twitter: http://bit.ly/karlwatsondocstwitter Instagram: http://bit.ly/karlwatsondocsinsta Merchandise: https://teespring.com/stores/karl-watson-travel-docs-store --------------------- Equipment --------------------------- Sony A7s: https://amzn.to/2NAqCJA Sony 28-70mm Lens: https://amzn.to/2O8IPgV RodeGo Mic: https://amzn.to/2ONrW8p Rode DeadCat: https://amzn.to/2zsuBzr Shoot Tripod: https://amzn.to/2O8w9q5 GoPro Hero 6: https://amzn.to/2NADsaE GoPro Monopod: https://amzn.to/2zrnEOM DJI MavicPro Drone: https://amzn.to/2zrPafg MavicPro Case: https://amzn.to/2zsINbs MacBook Pro: https://amzn.to/2NA2NSe WD Elements 4TB Hard Drive: https://amzn.to/2zsEpJo Software used: Final Cut X, Adobe After Effects --------------------- About Karl Watson --------------------- My name’s Karl, welcome to my channel that’s all about sharing my backpacking adventures from around the world, through fun, entertaining and honest travel documentaries. 06:30:05
My 17-day land tour of South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Zambia. The tour starts off in Johannesburg. From there I visit the capital in Pretoria. Next up is Soweto and the homes of Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. After a flight to Botswana I spend two days on animal safaris in Chobe National Park. Next it's a short drive to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe where I visit the world famous Victoria Falls, ride an elephant through the bush, take a sunset cruise down the mighty Zambezi River, visit a primitive village and local school. I fly to northern South Africa next where I spend three days on animal safari in Kruger National Park. Next I fly to Cape Town for the final six nights of my trip. I spend the first two nights on a wine estate from where I explore the towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. I spend the last four nights of the trip in downtown Cape Town. From here I ride the cable car to the top of Table Mountain, visit Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprissoned, take a scenic drive to the Cape of Good Hope where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet, enjoy the lively V&A Waterfront and visit the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. Note: Prior to arriving in Africa I spent several days in Dubai. Watching this video together with my Dubai video (@ https://youtu.be/gsYBWQ-a82c) documents my complete trip. South Africa Land of Diversity is located at the southern most region of Africa, with a long coastline that stretches more than 2,500 km and along two oceans the South Atlantic and the Indian. The interior of South Africa is a vast, flat, and sparsely populated scrubland, the Karoo, which is drier towards the northwest along the Namib Desert.
