SHORT: More videos to come! LONG: Apologies for the lack of consistent video uploads on this channel. It's actually quite time-consuming to make a quality recordings, quality editing, quality encoding and quality publishing. The recording time might only be a few minutes, but it takes at least 5 minutes to set up the camera + mic, an average probably 15 minutes to import and colour-correct everything, 20 minutes to encode, and usually 1hr20minutes to upload to youtube. So for a 5 minute video, it is at least two hours of computer time. On top of that, it's also not cheap. Camera, lenses, mic, webcam, fast computer, and I'm finding out the hard way that making movies takes up lots and lots of HDD space!! I'm also trying to upload everything in at least 2k resolution from now on... Nevertheless, it's something I enjoy, so I will try my hardest to upload a minimum of 1 to 3 video reviews per week from now until at least the end of 2017. I'll aim for Monday/Wednesday/Friday and see how that goes. Expect a lot more book reviews (design, typography and illustration), some reviews of art materials, and even a few tech-reviews of the equipment that I regularly use. I have placed the intro at the end because I think it's too long to see every time. A lot of work went into that, so "it has to be shown". I know I tend to jump straight into it, so I will try to introduce myself with "Hey this is Les" (or something like that) from now on. It's not easy as I have always been quite introverted. So I do get a tad nervous just before recording, and sometimes have to do two takes. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve my videos, please contact me or leave a comment below... As usual, thanks for watching. –Leslie https://twitter.com/vayakora https://vimeo.com/quintessentquirk https://www.instagram.com/vayakora https://www.flickr.com/lesliedeanbrown https://plus.google.com/+lesliedeanbrown https://www.youtube.com/quintessentquirk http://www.ebay.com.au/usr/quintessentquirk https://www.linkedin.com/in/drlesliedeanbrown https://www.etsy.com/au/people/quintessentquirk https://www.redbubble.com/people/vayakora/shop https://www.quora.com/profile/Leslie-Dean-Brown-1

DS 3 Cafe Racer Design

03:43
The tattoo is the primordial representation of the personality, a symbol, proudly shown, of belonging to a lifestyle and a special way of exhibiting one's identity. DS 3 Café Racer, the new limited edition creation of the DS Automobiles brand is the automotive interpretation of this modern symbolism of those who want to express their personality through the choice of the car. Interpreting the essence of the two-wheeler world, the new DS 3 Café Racer expresses, with the style and the class of French savoir-faire, both the stylistic features of the brand and the driving dynamics. 16 FAMOUS LOGOS WITH A HIDDEN MEANING (That We Never Even Noticed)

06:33
How to design a successful logo? How to build a famous brand for your business? Some of the most well-known logos in the world were purposefully designed to indicate something much more than simple beauty. In fact, it seems that in some cases, every line, curve, and color has meaning behind it. Adidas, Apple, BMW, Coca-Cola, Toyota… We see these famous brands everywhere but never consider what their logos exactly mean. Curious to know the secret? Watch the 16 famous logos with a hidden meaning you've never noticed. #logomeaning #logosecret # Hyundai 0:33 The letter ’Н’ symbolizes two people – a client and a representative of the company – shaking hands. Adidas 0:52 The current logo is three stripes at an angle which together form a triangle. This symbolizes a mountain, which in turn represents the challenges that all sportsmen have to overcome day after day. Apple 1:21 Rob Janoff, the designer who came up with the world-famous Apple company logo, explained his idea in one of his interviews. He bought a bag of apples, placed them in a bowl, and spent time drawing them for a week, trying to break the image down into something simple. Vaio 1:58 The first two letters of the Vaio logo symbolize an analogue wave. The last two are similar to the numbers 1 and 0 — that is, symbols of a digital signal. Amazon 2:14 The orange arrow is similar to a smile because the company wants its customers to be satisfied. The arrow is also stretched between the letters ’A’ and ’Z’, in a hint that the company sells absolutely every product you can imagine. Baskin Robbins 2:40 The pink-colored parts of the "BR" section make up the number 31, which is how many ice cream flavors Baskin Robbins used to famously sell. Toyota 2:56 The logo represents a stylized image of a needle eye with a thread passing through it. This is a hint at the company’s past – they used to produce weaving machines. Continental 3:28 Continental, a famous car tire producer, has a logo in which the first two letters depict a car wheel. Formula 1 3:41 If you look carefully at the white space between the letter ’F’ and the red stripes, you can see the number 1. Pinterest 3:59 On Pinterest, people collect images they like from across the Internet and ’pin’ them to their online boards. That’s why the image of a pin is hidden in the letter P. Beats 4:17 Beats, an audio equipment producer based in the USA, uses a logo in which the letter ’B’ looks like headphones on a person’s head. Toblerone 4:32 The famous chocolate company based in Bern, Switzerland, has a silhouette of a bear in its logo. That's because Bern is sometimes called a city of bears. BMW 4:55 The logo is simply a part of the Bavarian flag, the area of Germany where the company originated. LG 5:18 The logo is a stylized image of a person’s face. According to the company, this represents its aspiration to have human relations with their customers. Evernote 5:34 The corner of the elephant’s ear is folded over in a similar way how people fold the corner of a page to make notes. Coca-Cola 5:57 In the space between the letters ’O’ and ’L’, you can see the Danish flag. It’s purely a coincidence. Nevertheless, Coca-Cola has used this as part of its marketing campaigns in the Scandinavian country. If you’ve enjoyed this video, hit that thumbs up button! MiddletonA Brand Dev Reflection

03:41
Middleton_Brand Development Reflection Video Al Middleton The following are three of the most important concepts that I learned from our studies. Onliness Statement: Marty Neumeier’s concept of brand development centers on differentiation or “zag” but it is not simply minor differences, but that aspect of the brand that makes you one of a kind. The onliness statement is the representation of this difference. To ensure it is a true zag, you must be able to use the word “only”. If you are unable then you need to look at changing your strategy. Know who you are: Brands are a representation of you or your business. In order to build a brand, you must understand every aspect of your subject. You cannot express your authenticity or define you differences if you do not clearly know who you are, what you do or why you do it. Marty Neumeier walks you through a 17-point process in his book Zag to define every aspect of your brand including the who, what, and why, but also adding the how and for whom. Design Audit An objective appraisal of a design and how a company uses it can allow for insights in needed changes to design or updates to its usage. I see this being an effective tool when trying to redesign a particular piece associated with a brand, while at the same time ensuring there is consistency in its deployment. Resources: Best, K. (2006). Design management managing design strategy, process and implementation. Lausanne, Switzerland: AVA Academia Neumeier, M. (2007). Zag: The number-one strategy of high-performance brands. You Matter Dynamic Moodboard

00:40
Much like my static mood board, the overall feel of this board is light, airy, calming, inspiring, and rewarding. The imagery I have chosen all represent the emotional and physical expectations a young single parent will get through this program. These photos have an overall inspiring, encouraging, and motivating tone. Fonts that I will be using rang from decorative, traditional, and contemporary. I want the typography to work its way from a whimsical typeface into a more structured form which also reflects the same concept in logo. As far as the music aspect of it all, I chose to use a calm yet motivating instrumental. I mixed a few sound effects in the music, as well as incorporated a voice over at the end. Wheeler (2013) stated in her book, "As bandwidth increases, sound is quickly becoming the next frontier for brand identity" (page 156). Knowing that sound in an important part of the You Matter brand identity, the music I used suggested an inviting, welcoming, relaxing mentorship program while still encouraging young parents to live a positive lifestyle. This company is very family oriented and wants nothing but the best for their clients. Reference: Wheeler, A. (2013). Designing Brand Identity: An Essential Guide for the Whole Branding Team. Designing an identity system for W Hospital by Pratiksha

03:24
With over 20 years of experience in providing quality healthcare, Pratiksha Group is an established name in East India. The brand wanted to launch their flagship project, ‘W Hospital’, with an exclusive focus on women’s healthcare. The health of a woman has a deep impact on families, communities and well-being of children. And with modern lifestyles, women are facing new healthcare challenges. The brand endeavours to serve women’s healthcare needs across all stages of their lives. Our task was to design the brand identity and establish W Hospital as a one-stop destination for women’s healthcare. The identity is inspired by the spiral goddess symbol. Spiral is a sign of female power through transition and growth. It also represents the eternal cycle of life. The triple spiral represents the three powers of maiden, mother and crone. A flexible identity system was designed, allowing us to extend the concept to all the different departments within the hospital.

DC AVANTI LIMITED EDITION 310 | DC AVANTI 310 GREY COLOR

01:48
India has never had an affinity for sports cars, but it is this new generation that takes notice of these cars and hence when you ask them about these cars, there won't be a single Indian manufacturer in that list. But now we do; we have a made-in-India sports car - the Avanti. Made by DC Designs and manufactured in India, the Avanti is priced at just about 35 lakh. We've driven it and told you all about it. It's quite a car and we had said then, that considering it's a first attempt at making this kind of a car, the efforts need to be applauded. Then again there were those who wanted a bit more from the Avanti and DC Designs has answered their prayers. It's called the Avanti 310 and yes it's the better and meaner looking cousin of the Avanti. There are a whole lot of changes made to the car and one look at it and you'll see that it's for those who wanted some oomph out of the Avanti. Well, of course this is a limited edition and only 31 examples will be made. Well, the Avanti 310 retains the same 2.0-litre petrol engine sourced from Renault. But where the former punched out 250bhp, this one puts out 310bhp; the figure from which it derives its name. Details about what has been done to achieve that power figure elude us but we are certain that the turbo has been worked upon as also the other components. What it will also get (as an option) is a 6-speed automated manual transmission and yes, it will come with paddle-shifters. Now, the AMT that the Avanti 310 gets has been developed in-house and that shows us how the design house is evolving. History Of Royal Enfield Bike || Royal Enfield

05:23
Royal Enfield was a brand name under which The Enfield Cycle Company Limited of Redditch, Worcestershire[1] sold motorcycles, bicycles, lawnmowers and stationary engines which they had manufactured. Enfield Cycle Company also used the brand name Enfield without Royal. The first Royal Enfield motorcycle was built in 1901. The Enfield Cycle Company is responsible for the design and original production of the Royal Enfield Bullet, the longest-lived motorcycle design in history. Enfield's remaining motorcycle business became part of Norton Villiers in 1967 and that business closed in 1978. A former subsidiary continues to manufacture Royal Enfield motorcycles in India.George Townsend set up a business in 1851 in Redditch making sewing needles. In 1882 his son, also named George, started making components for cycle manufacturers including saddles and forks. By 1886 complete bicycles were being sold under the names Townsend and Ecossais. This business suffered a financial collapse in 1891. [2] [3] Albert Eadie, sales manager of Birmingham’s Perry & Co Ltd, pen makers who had begun to supply components for cycles, and Robert Walker Smith, an engineer from D. Rudge & Co[4], were chosen by Townsend's bankers to run the business. Then, in 1892, the firm was re-incorporated and named Eadie Manufacturing Company Limited; it was based in Snow Hill, Birmingham.[5][6] Later, in 1907, after serious losses from their newly floated Enfield Autocar business, Eadie Manufacturing and its pedal-cycle component business was absorbed by BSA.[7] Years later, the BSA chairman was to tell shareholders that the acquisition had "done wonders for the cycle department".[8] Eadie still retained a separate identity when Raleigh bought BSA's cycle interests in 1957.[9]adie had won contracts to supply precision parts for fire arms to the government's long-established Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield, Middlesex, now the London Borough of Enfield with its offshoot in Sparkbrook and had assumed the brand name Royal Enfield.[citation needed] In 1896 they also incorporated a new subsidiary company, The New Enfield Cycle Company Limited,[note 1] to handle much of the cycle work and in 1897 Enfield making complete cycles as well parts for other assemblers took all the cycle assembly work from Eadie. Enfield diversified into motor cycles, 1901 and motor cars, 1902. The motor department was put into a separate subsidiary, Enfield Autocar Company Limited incorporated in 1906 and established in new works at Hunt End, Redditch.[10] However Enfield Autocar after just 19 months reported a substantial loss and, aside from Eadie himself, shareholders were unwilling to provide more capital so in early 1907 Eadie sold his control of Eadie Manufacturing to BSA. Albert Eadie and Robert Walker Smith had been appointed directors of BSA before the proposed sale ha been put to shareholders. The new combined BSA and Eadie business manufactured "military and sporting rifles, (pedal) cycle and cycle components, motor-cars etc."[11] "BSA and Eadie cycle specialities".[12] But there were still minority Eadie shareholders alongside BSA in 1957. The business of Enfield Autocar, that is to say the plant and stock, was sold to Birmingham's Alldays & Onions Pneumatic Engineering.[13] Enfield Cycle Company took over the Hunt End premises. In 1955, Enfield Cycle Company partnered with Madras Motors in India in forming Enfield of India, based in Chennai, and started assembling the 350cc Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle in Madras. The first machines were assembled from components imported from England. Starting in 1957, Enfield of India acquired the machines necessary to build components in India, and by 1962 all components were made in India. Frank Walker Smith (1888-1962), eldest son of Robert Walker Smith, joined Enfield Cycle Company in 1909. Appointed joint (with his father) managing director in 1914 he took over the full responsibility when his father died in 1933.[14] After his death Enfield was bought by investors E & H P Smith who sold Enfield for £82,500 to Norton Villiers in 1967.[15] While Norton Villiers acquired 33 per cent of Enfield India the assets of Enfield's diesel engine division and pedal cycle and spares divisions were not picked up.[16] Royal Enfield produced bicycles at its Redditch factory until it closed in early 1967. The company's last new bicycle was the 'Revelation' small wheeler, released in 1965.[17][better source needed] Production of motorcycles ceased in 1970 and the original Redditch, Worcestershire-based company was dissolved in 1971.[18] Enfield of India continued producing the 'Bullet', and began branding its motorcycles 'Royal Enfield' in 1999. A lawsuit over the use of 'Royal', brought by trademark owner David Holder, was judged in favour of Enfield of India, who now produce motorcycles under the Royal Enfield name.[19]

Alina Wheeler
