I see these are products you make for children, naturally, children put things in their mouths. Are the inks from your printer non-toxic? Yes, this is a really good way to save money but is this method childsafe? I am genuinely asking, being a student in my 3rd year and currently working on my own product range. I'm looking at ways to label my product also.
TeeCup__ (7 months ago)
+Easy Sewing for Beginners Thanks for your reply 😉
Good question...a good start would be to check the manufacturer's specifications for your particular inkjet printer. From the search I did for the dye based inkjet ink is that they are non-toxic, but let me know if you find out any other information.

Can you recommend a particular heat transfer paper. When I try to find it there are many types. The one I find for inkjet printers requires sublimation ink. Is that a requirement for your method?

Easy Sewing for Beginners, thank you so very much for posting this tutorial on making fabric labels at home. I have been in the process of looking into ordering labels from an online source. I am certainly going to attempt this process first and save money and finish my product with a signature label. I wish your continued success!

Brittany Mosley (10 months ago)
Dawn Mason you may need to tests
Dawn Mason (1 year ago)
My heat press has temperatures & timers I do not use a domestic iron.
I believe she said cotton setting which is usually your high setting.
Septemberbaby (1 year ago)
Thanks so much for this tutorial! I did this method yesterday and it worked! I've done the "iron fabric on freezer paper and print on it" method and all I have to show for it is a jammed printer! Your method worked perfectly!
Cassandra Mcgee (1 year ago)
thank you for posting this! !
VeeVeeVeeV (1 year ago)
hm... a lot of wasted time... why wouldn't you just use a pressing board, or an ironing board, instead of a tea towel and pan?? hm..
Jennifer (11 months ago)
Those can be too soft. The hard surface of the pan helps you accurately iron the label onto the fabric.
Jasper (1 year ago)
It's probably easier to film from the same angle for the video so she used a pan to not ruin anything on the table.
How do I know which labels # to choose from?

It seems to be easier to do the whole sheet in the same method. With a larger fabric sheet then cut them out.

Hyuga Hinata (1 year ago)
Can you transfer the image directly to the fabric garment instead of a ribbon?
Jess Combs (1 year ago)
Hyuga Hinata Absolutely! Transfer paper is a lot of fun to play around with. Just make sure the paper you purchase says it can be transferred to the fabric you want it on. Some papers are cotton/specific blends only and not universal. :)

very easy video. can you list out the materials used
Pokey Bug (2 years ago)
This would be a great tutorial, except there were no instructions on how to set up the Word template. I don't know how to do this, no instructions, so the rest of the video is useless.

Avery Wizard Tool/App for Microsoft Word, most return label templates work for ribbon labels.
Kim Peters (1 year ago)
Pokey Bug , google Word templates and click on the Microsoft Word link. There will be many Word templates to choose from. Find the size and shape you want and download the template. Then look in your Downloads on your computer to find what you just downloaded and the. Type your own info over their sample text.
Sajola Sash (1 year ago)
Just get the image you want to use (one with a picture and text, or whatever your logo looks like), you could edit it with a photo editing app, open the image in word, making it small enough, duplicate it several times arranging it in rows and columns, there is a grid-line feature which you can use in word.
Carol McCollum (2 years ago)
I have watched over & over... & I do not understand how anything got printed onto anything for the 2 small labels. Starting at 8:17 to 8:50 the desired design was printed onto plain paper. Then, at 9:05, a small square of heat transfer paper, shiny side down, is taped onto the plain paper that has the print design of the 2 labels. The print is totally covered!! So... how can the printer print the image of the labels when the image is absolutely not visible--- it is sandwiched between plain paper & heat transfer paper?? Seriously, how can the printer print when there is nothing visible to copy?? What did I miss?
Millie Lillie (1 year ago)
The first regular printed paper was a test. She taped heat transfer paper over the first printed spot then printed again. So there were labels printed into plain printer paper then again onto heat transfer paper.
Soul Alchemy (1 year ago)
Carol McCollum Did you just panic?
Carol McCollum I put the paper back into the printer and reprinted onto the heat transfer paper.
Carol McCollum I printed onto the paper only so I knew where to stick the heat transfer paper for the labels. Then I reprinted onto the same piece of paper with the heat transfer paper stuck onto it.
